Get a $25 Credit on All New Lines

If you sign up for new service or add lines to an existing Consumer Cellular account by December 31, 2019, you’ll receive a $25 credit for each new line on your next bill. Tell Your Friends for a $25 Referral Credit

We’re proud that our customers are the most loyal in the wireless industry—and we love it when they tell friends how much they enjoy all the benefits we offer. That’s why we’re more than doubling our Refer-A-Friend reward during this time, too. Refer a friend to Consumer Cellular, and if they sign up by December 31, you both receive a $25 referral credit on your next bill. Be sure to let your friend know they can also take advantage of our $25 credit on new lines, so they can start new service with $50 (or more) in savings! And refer as many friends as you wish—you’ll earn a credit for each one.

Special Discounts on Smartphones and More

You can’t enjoy great wireless without great devices, so we’re also offering special price discounts on a variety of smartphones and flip phones, as well as our GrandPad tablet, throughout the holiday season. I would like to get the GrandPad for my mom for Christmas. Can this replace her current cell phone? She has a cell phone but struggles to use it, so thinking the GrandPad would be a better option. Also, would she be given a phone number for the GrandPad?

Also, if she loses power would she be able to make a phone call with the GrandPad?

    Thank you!

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

It sounds like the GrandPad may be a great alternative for your mom. It doesn’t come with a phone number automatically, but you can request one for it. Since inbound calls are restricted to those in her contacts, anyone that she would be receiving calls from would need to be added to her contacts list first. Additionally, since the GrandPad runs fully off of our network, it should still work even if the power goes out as long as any local cell towers haven’t also been affected.

  4. Brenda Carter says

Do you have the letters in big numbers and big letters?

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to post, Brenda. If you need a phone that comes with a larger keypad and buttons, I would recommend the Doro 7050, found here. The buttons on this phone are also spaced out to make them easier to see and press. The text on the screen can also be adjusted to be much larger than normal if needed.

  5. Michael P Bryan says

My wife wants to switch. After her month ends in 18 days can we get 25 each

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Michael, if she will be signing up before 12/31/2019, then she will be eligible for the promotions listed.

  6. Marie West says

I am thinking of changing service to consumer celluler. Can i keep the phone i have and what extra charge is their to have wifi?

    • Hi Marie, great questions! If your phone is unlocked and is able to take a SIM card, it may work on our network. We can’t guarantee that all models will be compatible, but our agents will do everything they can to see if we can get it up and running. We don’t actually offer WiFi but our data plans can be found on our website here.

  7. Carolyn Ruffin says

Can I switch from Cricket and keep my number and my service is currently suspended due to a error that they made?

    • Hi Carolyn, that’s a great question. I’m sorry to hear what your current provider is doing with your account! The number would need to be active in order for us to transfer it over, which means it couldn’t be suspended and have the line switch to us.

  8. Kelly says

I signed up for service a couple of weeks ago and while I have a $10 balance for buying the SIM card at a Target store, I don’t see $25 for the advertised holiday sign up special. Even this article says there’s a credit on all new lines, wouldn’t switching into CC count? Or am I jumping the gun here and something will show up on my first bill? (So far the new service is working very well, so kudos there.)

  9. Ruth Zink says

I’m thinking of switching from straighttalk but need to know what fees and taxes will be added to my bill. I currently pay 39 for unlimited talk and 2 gb of data. If it’s going to be close to that why would I switch? My zip is 27603.

    • Hi Ruth, thanks for your interest in our service! We don’t have a list of taxes that are applied for each area as they are added for us once a bill is generated. They can run between 15-20% but if you take a look at your current invoice with Straight Talk you should see them listed there for you to get a more accurate calculation for that.

  10. Vicki Smith says

I would like to win a different phone. Mine can not hold no data I only have 4 apps?

    • Hi Vicki, winning that giveaway would be a great start to the holidays! If you’re having trouble with the memory space on your phone, we’d be happy to go over some options such as memory SD cards to see if that will help at all. Give a call at 800-686-4460 or chat with a live agent here for further assistance.

  11. Tracy says

Is there any holiday savings on replace/upgrades?

  12. Nicole says

I am looking to switch from Straight Talk. I currently have unlimited talk, text and data. I do not see that as an option here. Am I incorrect? If so, is the data plan chosen shared between two phones, or is it per line?

    • Hi Nicole, great question! We don’t currently offer Unlimited Data as part of our line up, but we do go up to 25GB that would be shared between the two lines for $40 a month plus tax. If you’d like, you can view our plan options on our website here.

  13. Richard says

Does your service work in Canada, Mexico or Europe?

  14. Margaret Alford says

When i purchase the phones when i recieve them will they be ready to activate and use

    • Hi Margaret, thanks for taking the time to post your question! The phones will be ready to activate once they’re received. If you’re transferring a number though, the phone will not activate completely until that process has completed.

  15. Candy Willis says

Why does my usage bar on the website under my account show the orange color instead of green and state I’m nearing upgrade if I’ve only used 0.8 of my 10 GB?

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Candy, our records show that your usage should be reflecting correctly online. If your usage is still showing orange online, then I recommend clearing your cache and cookies so it isn’t based on any previous access to your online account.

  16. Eileen schroeder says

What I do is needed to change over from a Verizon over to con. Cellular? The phone will be a gift?

    • Hi Eileen, we appreciate your interest! If you’re wanting to purchase one of our phones and just transfer the number over, as long as the number remains active with the current provider during the transfer process, you can switch it over. We will also need the current account number, PIN number if there is one, billing address, and the account holder’s first and last name to submit to your current provider so that they will release the number to us so we would recommend having a bill readily available for this process.
