These Smartphone Apps Make Handy Holiday Companions

For anyone who’s ever said “I could sure use some help with all my holiday tasks”, your smartphone offers almost all the help you’ll ever need! It’s the perfect tool to help you with everything from finding the perfect gift to finding a moment to relax.

Here are a few smartphone apps that I’ve found to be indispensable holiday companions. You’ll find these available for both Android smartphones, and iPhones. Each of the apps listed here is free to download and start using, though several also offer additional “premium” content with paid subscriptions.

Shopping: Nearly every retailer now offers an app or website that lets you directly shop its merchandise without ever leaving home. With just a few clicks, you can browse, order, pay and have your packages delivered right to your door. Among large retailers, checkout Target or Amazon. Or, for great deals on gently used luxury clothing and accessories, try Tradesy.

Holiday Music: Love to have a seasonal soundtrack? If you’re a holiday music fan, then you need to make sure you have Pandora on your phone. It has so many incredible Christmas music stations, you’re sure to find a sound and style that fit whatever mood you’re in.

Travel: If your loved ones are flying in for the holidays, consider trying the Flight Tracker app to keep tabs on their travel status. You can track their flight from point to point, and know if they’re on-time or delayed. It’s also an amazing way to watch aircraft move all around the world in real-time

Food: The Yumly app is a terrific way to spice up your holiday table with new dishes and flavors. With a database of more than two million recipes, it offers plenty of great ideas along with step-by-step instructions and even helpful videos.

Time for you. Amidst the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it’s important to find time for yourself to relax and recharge. I use the guided meditations and helpful tips offered at the Headspace app for a little stress-free “me” time.

Before you dive into the whirl of the holiday season, consider adding one (or all) of these apps to your smartphone. They can help make the season bright, in so many ways!

I currently have AT&T. I have since before they were called that. About 30 years. I have a older iPhone. I have shopping, grocery store , financial, weather, news that I just could not give up. My iPad is also on this account. I am in my early 70’s. Would you be a good fit for me? I would like to up grade my phone but it does not have to be a 11. Do you offer any of the others? I was told a 8 might be good for me.

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

I’m happy to help, Caroline! If you’re interested in bringing over your own iPad it will need to be unlocked, GSM-compatible, and able to use a SIM card. We aren’t able to guarantee compatibility for all devices, our team will do all they can to get it working on our service.

We have a variety of iPhones available ranging from the Apple iPhone 6s to the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max, and all of them can be found here. The 8 would be an excellent choice if you want to have a model that is a bit newer and will still be supported for quite a while, but don’t have a need for the latest model.

I am currently a CC customer and am wanting to get the apple watch with cellular capability. Does CC support this item? I know ATT does and my iphone is an ATT version with your sim card and it is working fine. I understand there is something “special” that needs to be done to add the apple watch since it uses the same number as the phone.

    • Hi Jerry, great question, thanks for your post. We do not offer support for iWatches at this time. The newest model needs an e-SIM which we do not offer at this time. However, you can connect it to your phone using the Bluetooth feature if you’d like.

You may want to advice that they call 211 if they are low income and ask that question as well as how to get free or low cost service…
    I love Consumer Cellular!

Having trouble with getting CC online all that comes up is Ted Danson and the ability to switch services. Same problem with the app. I’m unable to do anything with in the app. I only see what I would owe and that’s it. What happened ?
