GrandPad Companion App Lets You Stay Connected by Smartphone

We’re continuing to share a deeper look at some of the unique features of our terrific new tablet for seniors, GrandPad, Powered by Consumer Cellular. In a previous post I invited you to meet GrandPad, and recently discussed how to create a secure family circle with its private network and family administrator functions, making it a safe tool for Mom and Dad.

The GrandPad experience is also very special for family members who want to stay connected to their aging loved ones. You can communicate directly with the GrandPad user with a convenient smartphone app! The GrandPad companion app is available to both iPhone and Android smartphone users, and using it means you always have quick and easy access to share special moments and take turns brightening each other’s day.

For enhanced security, only companions who are approved by the family administrator can download and use the app. Once you’ve become an approved companion, you can send and receive voice and video messages to and from mom or dad and share photos or videos with them. You can even link your social media accounts through the app so that items you post there will also be added to the GrandPad’s photo album. You’re also able to view and comment on things that other approved companions have shared, creating a dynamic family circle. Plus, the items you share are saved to the GrandPad’s photo library, so your loved one can enjoy them again and again.

Using the modern amenities of GrandPad’s Companion App, you can play a vital role in keeping Mom, Dad, Grandma, or Granddad in touch with people and events so they remain a vibrant part of our lives. If you’d like to introduce someone special to GrandPad, Powered by Consumer Cellular, order today online or contact customer service at (888) 545-1425 and we’ll be delighted to help get you started.

Will the grand had ever go down on the price and cheaper than $40 dollars a month. Some people can’t afford that price if they are on a fixed income each month

Thank you for taking the time to share your concerns, Melody. We don’t currently have plans to change the monthly price of the GrandPad, but I have passed along your feedback for consideration. Thank you again and have a great day!

Can you add miscellaneous apps to the Grandpad-such as the “Calm” App? It is for meditation and relaxation.

  8. Carol Boyd says

Is the GrandPad still available and if so what is the price and how do I go about purchasing one ?

    reply to Carol

    • Hi Carol, thanks for your question! The GrandPad is still available for $250 plus tax for a brand new model. We do also offer our gently used Certified Risk-Free Guarantee option though for $75 plus tax if that will fit better into your budget. There is also the option for our EasyPay plan for this device that would have you pay $10 plus the taxes upfront and then pay off the phone in installments.

How do I access information on the administrator aspect of the GrandPad? I am the administrator for my mother’s app and feel a bit lost without a manual or some consistent connection for me personally to get answers.

One of the companions invited to join my parents GrandPad network is concerned about using to much data on her own phone with limited data plan. Any suggestions?

    reply to Paige

  13. Paige says

Is there a way to silence or turn off the GrandPad during my 90+ parents’ nap time so an incoming call doesn’t disturb them?

    reply to Paige

    • Hi Paige, great qeustion. There are a couple of ways that we can turn the GrandPad off, you can contact us and we can power it off for them remotely if needed. Otherwise, hold the power button (the smaller of the two buttons on the GrandPad, in the upper right part of the device on the otherwise of the flap) down. It will take a few seconds of pressing that button down, but then the option to “Power Off” will show, and then they just tap on that. You would press that same button to power it back on again once they’re ready to use it again.

      reply to Jacob

      • Paige says

        Thanks, Jacob.
It would be a nice option for administrators to be able to manage quiet times remotely.
My parents won’t be able to manage the power button.

I am a contact in two secure family circles, my mom and also my mother in law. How do I upload a photo to my moms private network without my mother in law seeing the photo and vice versa? And how do I view their photo feed private networks separately? Thanks

    reply to Teri

    • Hi Teri, thanks for your question. If you are using the GrandPad app, it should be separate feeds for the two devices. If you’re having any trouble with this at all, give our GrandPad team a call at 888- 545-1425 and we’d be happy to assist you further with this.

      reply to Jacob

  15. Teri says

    Hi Jacob,
I am using the GrandPad app and it is not two separate feeds. I called Consumer Cellular and they said they can fix by merging my profiles which now made it worse.. my mother in law and her contacts can now see my mom and her contacts private photos/posts. Please be specific with what I am to tell them when I call as it is frustrating. Thanks again!

We are going to cancel our GrandPad account. Will all of the pictures remain on all of the phones with the App in our family?
