For most of us these days, family budgets are getting tighter, not looser. So it’s a perfect time to look for ways to consolidate monthly bills. I’m pleased to report now you can combine your home phone and cell phone service into one easy and affordable monthly bill thanks to our new product, the Wireless Home Phone Base.
Simply put, the Wireless Home Phone Base enables you to use your traditional home telephone with our wireless network. It’s truly a cost-effective solution and is just like adding a second cell phone line to your account. Once you purchase the device, using your traditional home phone only adds $10 per month to your current cell phone plan. Just like any shared line, it will use minutes from your plan.
Here’s how it works: You plug your traditional home phone into our Wireless Home Phone Base and a standard electrical outlet. Voilà! You get voice service through our wireless network. You don’t even need a telephone wall jack. In fact, all you need is a strong cellular signal and an electrical outlet. This means it can be set up in just about any room of your house or you can take it with you on the road, making it the very definition of “mobile.”
Plus, you may keep both your existing number and telephone. For more details about Wireless Home Phone Base, please watch the brief video below or call our Contact Center at 1-888-345-5509.
Great idea! Can a fax machine be attached to the Home Phone Base in addition to a regular phone?
Hi Aubrey. Thanks for the question. Fax machines won”t work in conjunction with Wireless Home Phone Base. Here”s a link to more information about the device: https://www.consumercellular.com/Info/HomePhone. Thank you!
thank you for all your help! You people are great!!!! Jim
I have 3 separate phones for my landline for different floors in my house. How could this work if I want to keep my multiple phones?
Hi Tara. You may plug two phones into this device. If you need any additional assistance or if you”re interested in learning more about this product, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5509. Thank you.
I”m a customer of yours and I don”t get good cell phone service at my home,,,,so will this still work for me? I would love it if it could.
Hi Nancy. Thanks for the question. Our risk-free trial period applies to this device as well. This means you can test it out to see if it works out for you. If you”re interested in pursuing this further, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5509. Thank you.
Can I plug the base unit of a six cordless phone system into this and have all six phones receive and send the calls? Also, if the base unit includes an answering machine, will the answering machine get the unanswered call messages or will I have to fetch them from voicemail as I do now? Also (number 2)l if the base unit includes bluetooth capability, can I link my cell phones to the six portable phones when I am home and receive a call on my cell phone?
Thanks for the questions, Jerry. You can check Voicemail using this device – similar to the way you check Voicemail on a cell phone. However, the device only works in conjunction with two phones. If you”re interested in learning more about this product, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5509 and we”ll be more than happy to assist you.
I am moving from a house to a housing apartment, my home phone is expensive per month, I will be calling for hook up.
We make numerous calls to Japan. Is there a rate on C.C. that would compare with our home line rate?
Thank you,
269-449-6895
Hi Roland. Thanks for the question. Here”s a link to more information about our international rates: https://www.consumercellular.com/Support/InternationalRates.
I currently receive my internet service thru the phone company…what would I do for internet service?
Thanks for the question, John. You”re free to determine the best solution for your internet needs however, we don”t offer any internet solutions for the home. Thank you.
With regards to internet solutions for the home, I understand that you don”t provide any, I would really like to see Consumer Cellular provide a high-speed wireless internet service in the near future. I would love to get rid of my Verizon DSL and my landline phone, not that DSL is bad, it”s GREAT!, however the cost of maintaining the landline phone and the DSL service, and especially all the numerous charges, fees and surcharges are taxing me financially. Hope you folks at Consumer Cellular might consider providing such a wireless internet service.
I would love to get rid of Verizon also! Please work at getting an Internet service!!
Thank you for the comment, Deb. I’ve passed your suggestion on to our management team. Thanks again!
Looks interesting. How does this work if I have multiple phones in my home? Are additional minutes included with the $10 charge? Thanks.
Hi Ken. Thanks for the questions. You plug two phones in to this device. The $10 charge allows you to share the minutes on your current plan with this device. If you need additional minutes, you”re free to move to a different plan. If you need any additional information, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5509. Thank you.
Will the device interfere with my wireless Internet ?
No, it”s similar to having a cell phone in the room, it won”t interfere with your wireless internet. Thanks for the question.
We have caller I”D on the landline…would this service be included ?
Yes, in fact, Caller ID will work in the same manner that it does on a cell phone. Thanks for the question.
Sounded very interesting and I had several questions until I read you could only connect 2 phones to it. That kind’a makes it useless in a family setting where 3 bedrooms are about minimum. From a technical point of view I can”t see why you can not plug your cordless phone 6 units in to it and it would work. It only supplies an interface to the cellular system.
Hi David. Here”s some further clarification for you. There are two telephone ports on the Wireless Home Phone Base. If you have a home phone system that connects to one wall jack and branches out into several telephones – you can use that set up with this device. It”ll just use one of the two available ports. If you need any additional assistance, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5509.
Will you contact my current carrier to make the switch or will I have too?
Thank you!
Hi Darlene. You won”t need to contact your current carrier. When you”re ready to make the switch, give us a ring at 888-345-5509 and we”ll take care of the rest. Thanks!
can we add another land line thorugh Consumer Cell….will they give us a landline tel number for the 2nd line to plug in?
Hi Pat. Yes, you may add another line through our service. If you”re interested in pursuing that option further, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5509. Thank you.
Do you see getting home internet service in the near furture
Thanks for the question, Kay. To be honest, it”s very unlikely that Consumer Cellular will expand into the market that provides home internet service. Thank you.
1) You mentioned in your videos that calls have to be made using 10 digit phone numbers….
What about calling emergency 911 ????
2) Our DSL internet service is connected via phone line in another room….. Will this
interfere with that at all ??? Thanks
Hi Sandi. Dialing 911 can be accomplished the same way you dial on a regular home phone, simply dial 911. This device won”t interfere with your DSL service however, if you need any additional information, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5509. Thank you.
Can”t wait to get this service in addition to my cell phone service with Consumer Cellular. Have to wait until my “bundled contract” expires in 6 more months!!!!
WOW. What a great product the Home Phone System is. Works very well. Would recommend to anyone. How can you do it for such a great price?. Why everyone doesn”t have this system is beyond me.
Thank You.
Will I still have anytime mins?
Yes, in fact, you can use any of our cell phone plans in conjunction with this device. If you need any additional assistance, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5509. Thank you.
I have ATT landline and wireless internet. If i change to your home phone wireless service how do I keep the wireless internet. Do I call and let them know I still want internet or will you take care of it for me?
Thank you for commenting, Billy. When you move your phone service to us, we will port your number and take care of the number transfer. We won’t be able to do anything with the cable portion of our service with AT&T, so it is probably a good idea to contact them and let them know you will be keeping the internet service. When you are ready to start the transfer, just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can get that taken care of for you. Thank you again for the comment, and have a wonderful day!

I understand that the equipment is unavailable right now. But, I cannot find any information about the service on your website, either. Does this mean you have no plans to offer this service again?
Thank you for asking. At this time, we don’t have the Home Phone Base available, but we will be sure to let our customers know if it becomes an option once again. Any new products would be announced here on our blog, on our website and in the customer newsletter. If we can assist you with a different option or with another type of phone, we’re happy to help you at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us!
I have ADT security system. Will your landline phone system work with my security system?
Thank you for asking, Jeanette! Our wireless home phone base uses cellular technology to work with a handset. You may ask your security system company if that type of device will work properly with their system. If we can answer any other questions you may have, please don’t hesitate to call us at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post today!
I’m wondering how I can check my voicemail on my home base phone using my cell phone.
We’re happy to help with that, Ione. From your cellphone, call the number associated for the wireless home phone base. When you hear the greeting, press the “*” key. You’ll be prompted to enter your voicemail passcode, and then you’ll be able to check your messages. If you run into any issues, please don’t hesitate to call us at 888-345-5509. Thank you for posting, and we hope you have a great day!
I used to have CC cell phone – but could not get calls where we live. That was about 3 years ago. Has the ‘broadcast power’ increased since then? We would love to go back to CC.
Thanks for asking, Aurelio! We’re happy to take a look at the coverage in your area and see if it has improved. We offer coverage on two of the nation’s largest networks, so there are more options than ever. Please feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509 at your convenience. We appreciate you posting, and we look forward to speaking with you soon!
I am currently using another VoiP service but am thinking of combining your home VoiP with my current wireless account. What is the cost of the base unit and is the additional $10 a flat fee for the service or is taxes and additional charges added to that figure. I am currently paying $13.25/mo with my VoiP service.
Hi Rosana, those are great questions, thanks for asking. The cost of the home base is $25 plus tax, and the cost for the additional line fee is actually $14.25 plus tax that would be added onto your monthly invoice each month.
Can you use the home base with a plan without having a cell phone
Hi Vernon, thanks for your question. You can definitely set up your account with just a home base and not have a cell phone active with it.
