What It Means to have Great Employees

With three contact centers in two states, nearly 800 employees and more than one million customers, Consumer Cellular has experienced steady growth, even during a sometimes sluggish economy. I believe our growth is partly, if not mostly, because we never let our expansion undercut the stellar service we provide to our customers.

In other words, our employees kept–and keep–their eye on the prize. Their mission is to deliver the friendliest and highest level of customer service, regardless of our growth and continued expansion. Their prize is earning your business, loyalty and respect—not just once but every day.

I’d like to take a moment and talk about two awards we received recently, awards, which I believe, cast a bright light on our employees:

BusinessJournalFor the fourth year in a row, Consumer Cellular was selected by the Portland Business Journal as one of the 100 fastest growing private companies in the region. We earned a spot on their prestigious Top 100 list with a growth rate in excess of 90 percent. Breaking into a “fastest growing” list once or twice might indicate momentum. Doing it four times in a row acknowledges the consistency and stability we’ve sought to maintain while serving our customers.

CareerbuilderLogoIn the inaugural year for the award, CareerBuilder recognized our Phoenix contact center as one of the Top 50 Companies to Work for in the state of Arizona. Employees throughout the state were asked to participate in an anonymous survey administered by CareerBuilder. Based on their responses, Consumer Cellular was selected as one of the Top 50 work places. This means our employees told CareerBuilder they’re happy working for us.

The Business Journals, a division American City Business Journals, deliver news to a total business audience of over 10 million people via 43 websites, 40 publications and 550 annual industry leading events. While Career Builder, the largest online job site in North America, is a global leader in human capital solutions. Simply put, these two organizations are steeped in what it means to be a successful business in the 21st century.

I now wish to thank them for recognizing us. I feel honored to see Consumer Cellular in the company of so many other wonderful business success stories.

Of course, you don’t make or stay on any thumbs-up list without dedicated employees. So I’m saving my best congratulations for last: thank you, Consumer Cellular employees. In a feature-rich world, you remain our best feature.
