I just switched to Consumer Cellular a couple of months ago. Love my new iPhone 6 but I do have one complaint and it’s a big one. When you look at the coverage map the coverage should work in Alaska along the Inside Passage. Not true. Just returned from a trip and had very little coverage in that area. Also folks, CC does not have International coverage. I had not noticed that when I changed from Verizon. My coverage at home in Everett, Washington is not great either. I’m sorry I changed carriers now.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Lana. I was able to take a look at your account, and verify that you should have good coverage in your home area, and that we do have coverage in Alaska. That being said, coverage can be affected by many things, including building materials, terrain and more. That may be why you had little coverage while there. We’re happy to troubleshoot your phone with you, and we can look at some options to increase your coverage at home. As to international coverage, we don’t offer service outside of the United States. You can place outgoing international calls from your Consumer Cellular phone, and for more information, just visit our website here. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can work to resolve this coverage issue for you. We’re happy to have you as a customer, and we appreciate you reaching out to us today!

What about classes for IPhone users?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Renea. Many Apple stores in your area will provide instruction and training for using your iPhone. Just give them a call and you can see what is available for your iPhone model. We can also help you with any issues you’re having over the phone at 888-345-5509. Whichever option works best for you!

Can I use a CC phone in Ontario Canada? I lost my phone and need to replace it but will be in Canada for a month. I need a phone I can use there.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Lisa. Our service is only available in the United States, but if you purchase on of our devices, you could use it in Canada with an international SIM card. You can also use Wi-Fi while you are there to stay in touch via email and use Facebook. Another great option is to use Google Hangouts, which will allow you to message others in real time, similar to text messaging. We can walk you through the international SIM process if you’re interested, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’re happy to help you find the best option to meet your needs. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us!

I noticed my bill was higher than normal with a $4.50 charge. I called and was told the extra charge was because I used directory assistance 3x. $1.50 per call?? Ridiculous!! That should be something that is directly told to new customers when they are setting up their accounts. I was told that there is a Free Directory Assistance # 1-800-373-3411, for those unaware people like me. BEWARE of hidden fees and Extra charges!! Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Susan. We certainly apologize for any frustration or confusion in regards to directory assistance. Free 411 is a great service, and you can learn more about it in our recent blog post here. Again, we apologize for any confusion, and we appreciate your feedback. Thank you again for taking the time to reach out to us!

When I have problems using an application the first question is – who is your provider and the next is what kind of phone do you have. Unfortunately I seem to strike out on both these points since no one is familiar with Consumer Cellular or the Samsung Rugby that I bought from you. One thing they say is I need to upgrade to 4.0. 4.0 what? Is that a software update?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a good question, Sue. It sounds like you are referring to the phone’s operating system, or the Android software version number. Some apps require a more recent operating system version, such as 4.0 which is known as Ice Cream Sandwich. We’re happy to answer any other questions you may have about your phone, just call us at 888-345-5509. Thank you for reaching out to us today, we appreciate it!

I could not find any information I was looking for and decided that maybe I can get the answers here. I certainly hope.
How can I block numbers from calling into my phone? Does anyone know?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Richard. We completely understand your frustration, and we’re happy to assist you. First, please make sure are registered on the Do Not Call list so you can minimize the number of unwanted calls. Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to block calls made to your phone. We’re happy to speak with you about this if you like, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We apologize for the frustration, and we appreciate you taking the time to comment. We hope you have a great day!

    • Jo Ann says

Depending on your phone, you can block the numbers. On the Iphone5 you tap on the phone number in the recents list and then scroll down and you will see where you can block it. I was also able to block numbers from older phones that I had. Try looking at the phone number and tapping like I suggested. Good luck.

I have had no service for over 12 hours. My phone says no mobile network available. Is the problem your network or my phone?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Mary. I was able to take a look at the coverage in your area, and there don’t seem to be any down towers or interruptions. I also checked the settings on our end, and they appear normal. Please try turning your phone all the way off, then turning it back on again. This should allow your phone to connect to the tower nearest you and get a stronger signal. If that doesn’t resolve the problem, please call us from a different phone at 888-345-5509 or email us at [email protected]. We’ll be happy to troubleshoot and get your service up and running once again. Thank you for reaching out to us!

Is there any way Consumer Cellular would help customers immensely by accepting electronic checks? It would make life so much easier. This is the only phone service I have ever heard of that does not do this. Please consider this. Thanks you, Mynette Marsh

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Mynette. We do accept some electronic checks, it just depends on the bank. We’re happy to talk you with and see if this option is available to you. 16. Gene says

Hello, I’ve been with Consumer Cellular for a month or so now. I’m wondering if I’ll be able to get the AARP discount? I joined AARP about two weeks after transferring my wireless account from AT&T to Consumer Cellular. Also, I have a few text messages that came in (mostly from CVS, wanting to know if I wanted to sign up for their prescription notifications) that I didn’t want. Since I didn’t include text messages as a part of my account, how will this affect my bill?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re happy to help you with that, Gene. All we need is for you to give us a call and provide your AARP member number. Then we’ll get that added to your account information so you can start seeing your 5% discount each month. As for your text messages, each text you receive or send is $0.10, but you can get our 300 text/30 MB text and data plan for just $2.50 a month. We’re happy to review your bill with you over the phone at 888-345-5509 if you like. Thank you for reaching out to us today, and we look forward to speaking with you!

Where can I go to get a hands on tutorial for my new phone. I’m having a hard time understanding and when I go to the place where I got it they run through so fast it doesn’t make sense and I’ m right back where I started.

    Thank you, Kathy

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

  18. Pam Kono says

I became a member of AARP and notified CC of that with my AARP member ID a couple weeks ago, but I don’t see that discount noted on my CC account. How can I be sure to receive those savings? Thanks, Pam

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for posting, Pam. We’re happy to verify that we have the correct member information over the phone, so please give us a call at 888-345-5509 at your convenience. That way, we can ensure that you receive the 5% monthly discount. Thank you again for reaching out to us, and we look forward to speaking with you soon.

Why did you erased my comment and question of 7/6/22? This is not honesty.
    This is it again:
    Dear Consumer Cellular Billing Service:
    My Account
This month –July 2022- you increase bill charges but percentages are staying the same.
    – Fed USF Cellular: Federal 23.80% 07/17/2022 0.47
    06/17/2022 0.45

    Sales Tax: Cuyahoga County 2.25% 07/17/2022 0.39
    06/17/2022 0.37

    Sales Tax: OH 5.75% 07/17/2022 1.00
    06/17/2022 0.95

This is illegal. Would you please correct it.
    Thank you
