Making a Difference with a New Call Center

There are days when I can’t believe how great it feels to see Consumer Cellular’s growth lead to a positive impact on the lives of so many others and the communities in which they live. I say this with humble appreciation and full knowledge of how many dedicated employees it takes to grow a business. Simply put, I am in awe of our workers.

Recently, I had one of those great days in Redmond, a small town in Central Oregon. I was there to participate in the official opening of our newest call center, an expansion designed to help us to better meet our growth needs as we surpass 850,000 customers. This new space was already configured to be a call center, a 77,000-square-foot facility previously operated by another cell phone service provider.

On the date of the call center’s official opening, we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the morning, which was attended by several local and state dignitaries, including the mayor of Redmond, a representative from the Governor’s office, numerous politicians and business leaders, as well as our newest call center team.

By that same afternoon our Redmond call center was up and running and taking its first Consumer Cellular support calls. I’ve added a few photographs from our ribbon-cutting ceremony to this blog post. There’s a photo of Tiffany, our Redmond site manager, making a speech and three of us (I’m in the middle) cutting the “ribbon.”

Popular broadcast journalist Tom Brokaw once said, “It’s easy to make a buck. It’s a lot tougher to make a difference.” While all companies are in business to make a buck, I can’t think of a better legacy for any company than to also make a difference.

    I've only been with Consumer cellular for about two months; however, I sing your praises every chance I get. My daughter just switched to Consumer Cellular also. The customer service is amazing. Whatever you're doing, don't ever change it.

    They really do speak English when you have a problem and so nice. I won't change ever. Consumer Cellular finally has the right idea and puts their customers first.

    I have great respect for companies that want to keep jobs in the USA. Its too bad some of these larger corporations did not feel that way decades ago. Companies that shipped their jobs overseas are partly responsible for the economy.

    I totally agree,I've been with Consumer Celluar for eight months.The customer service people are the greatest and great phone plans and they speak English.Keep up the good work.

    What a fantastic company. I would never change carriers as the people are so helpful, patient and caring. What a wonderful example they've set. It's a shame more businesses aren't run the same way.

    I ordered my Consumer Cellular phone via Sears after seeing your TV ad on Fox 9 Minneapolis. You're onto a good value, though the website ordering process is not the easiest in the world.

    I can't tell you how impressed I am with the service I get from Consumer Cellular representatives. I sent an email concerning removing a phone from my account. I not only got immediate service, but the rep actually called me to discuss my needs! Now THAT'S service!!! Keep up the good work guys!!

    I too left a major company to become a consumer cellular customer. Customer service is just great and I have had very little problems especially in our restricted area I still get service.
    I am getting up there in age and do not really need a cell phone except when I go someplace so your low cost and none contract is the greatest.
    HIGHLEY RECOMMEND TO ANYONE.

    I’m a prospective new customer to C-C — considering it after seeing a friend’s C-C cell. While I am deciding, thought I’d give you guys a call and get some basic questions answered. As I dialed, I was thinking “well, here I am dialing into a discount phone service, wonder how long it’ll take to get to talk to a customer service rep?”. Was I surprised when a human answered on the 2nd ring! She answered all my Qs, and later on I called back several more times, each time with the same experience.. Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful people without the long wait I was used to at bigger companies. Looking forward to being a customer soon.
