Putting green ideas to work.

At Consumer Cellular, we work extra hard to be kind to the world around us. As we celebrate Earth Day 2016 this week, we’re even more mindful of our partnership with the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). As you know, it requires more than ideas to preserve and improve the world around us. And last we heard, action speaks much louder than any tree falling in a forest.

This year’s Earth Day theme is ‘Trees for the Earth.’ It’s all about working together to plant a healthier future. Together, Consumer Cellular and the NPCA work to protect and enhance national parks in the United States, improving them for future generations, advocating for plants and wildlife, and protecting important cultural sites.

Since 2011, we’ve supported NPCA’s initiatives by donating more than $700,000 to protect and sustain national parks. As of this year, our annual contributions have grown to $150,000. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help nature while serving our communities. We’ve chosen as a company to lead by example while encouraging our customers to explore smart, sustainable options.

There’s also a very easy way for you to help us and NPCA continue this mission. Just choose the e-billing option in the My Account portal! Not having to print or mail bills can literally save tons of paper each year. And, saving paper saves more than trees. It reduces fuel waste and pollution, too!

Join the nearly 93% of our customers who use one of our paper-saving method billing options. We think you’ll find it convenient and easy! And, maybe instead of walking to the mailbox, you can stop and smell the pine cones at your nearest national park soon.

I love my Consumer Cellular phone service. I appreciate you adding more minute options last year. I was wondering if you are considering adding a 1,000 minute/ month plan. I seem to use between 600 and 850 minutes per month. Therefore, I get the 1500 minutes plan, and rarely use over half of it.

Thank you for the feedback, Janet. It is always helpful for us to hear directly from customers like yourself. At this time, we don’t have any new plan announcements to make, but if we do change our plans we will be sure to let you know here on the blog and on other social channels. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with us, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks for your involvement in an extremely worthwhile endeavor.
There are many ways we all can find to avoid being wasteful, no matter how great or small. Loving my cell phone service!

My Consumer Cellular signal coverage is much, much better than my previous service. I am now considering increasing my calling plan and eliminating my land line. The thing which holds me back however is the stupid fact that while I have good cell coverage wherever I go, at home I get only one little bar and, often, no bars. Is there some way I can encourage CC to improve the strength of my home signal?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Earl. Depending on the materials of your home, you may have a weaker signal indoors. Materials such as brick or metal roofing can result in less coverage at your home. We’re happy to discuss some options with you at 888-345-5509 if you like. It’s great to hear that our service is a good fit for you, and our Wireless Home Phone Base may be a really good fit for your needs. We appreciate you posting today, and we look forward to speaking with you!

I recently moved my sim to a unlocked AT&T Lumina 640 (with great assisting info from Consumer Cellular).

My Lumina appears as a “Customer Provided Device”, not a Lumina Windows phone. Does this affect any updates, etc.?

(This is an excellent way to upgrade to a smart phone for $30)!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Leo! Any updates to your Windows Phone will come from the manufacturers, so you will still receive them as they are released. Your phone appears as a “customer provided device” only because you are using your SIM card. Your service won’t be different in any way, but we’re glad you double checked! We’re so glad to hear you were able to get the smartphone you wanted at a great deal, all while enjoying our award-winning service. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

I just received my new iPhone 5s and am amazed at the speedy delivery: Ordered late Saturday afternoon, arrival at destination Monday early afternoon, that’s what I call service! Thank you, CC.
The phone is now charging and then it’s off to set up, and I’ll probably be calling Customer service, because I am not very good with technical things.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s wonderful, Ute! We know you’ll enjoy all the iPhone 5s has to offer. Thank you for keeping us posted, and be sure to check out our Apps of the Month blog for some great new app ideas!

I just love Consumer Cellular. The prices are extraordinarily low as compared to any other cell phone company. I have been reading how Consumer Cellular has been growing and that’s super news. I do have one wish, I hope Consumer Cellular will consider providing high speed internet service at affordable prices. Currently, I am stuck with Verizon DSL and Verizon is pushing hard to get people to convert to FIOS, but the prices are too high and only for a limited time, and then there is the major headache of having to run fiber optic cables from the street and through the foundation of buildings. It is too much to deal with. Consumer Cellular would do extremely well as an internet provider. Hope it will come about, and soon!.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the idea, Bill! At this time, we’re sticking with the cellular business, but if that should change, we will be happy to let our customers know. Thank you for posting!

I am not a member with Consumer Celluar, but I read the blog and came close to joining several times. After reading the blog I’m giving it more consideration.

That’s great to hear, Carinell! If you ever have any questions about our plans or our service, I’m happy to answer them here for you. We’re glad to hear that you find the blog fun to read, and we appreciate you taking the time to post!

  9. Al says

Great and helpful blog! Two questions – if I order an iPhone SE, is there a wait for its arrival? Also, if I prefer AT&T service for a ported phone number, how do I specify that on your website? Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re glad you are finding the blog to be helpful, Al. When you order the iPhone SE, you won’t have a wait as long as we have them on hand. Once you complete your order, it will ship to you as soon as possible. Best of all, the shipping is free! You can also purchase one at your local Target store if that will work better for you. As for your service, we will send you the SIM card that will provide you with the best coverage. We can discuss this with you at 888-345-5509 if you like. We can even help you complete your order over the phone at the same time! Thank you for taking the time to comment, and we hope you have a wonderful day!
