    I agreed to the Square Trade on my new phone, but it says it starts immediately even though I don’t have my phone yet. Shouldn’t the start date be when I receive and activate my phone? It’s only a few days so it’s not that big a deal, except for the timing. This means it’s started 2 days before the end of the billing cycle. Do they prorate or am I going to have to pay for a full month for those 2 days – even though during those 2 days I don’t have the phone? Thank you for your help on my concerns.

    Till today, have paid $6.00 a month to Square Trade for 60 months totaling $360.00. During the past 60 months, I have needed one battery replacement and one screen replacement.

    There is a $50.00 deductible with each repair.
    I got a total of $27.00 back, once.

    Having insurance made me feel better at the time. $6.00 a month wasn’t much. I cancelled today. If or when I get a new phone, don’t know if I will get insurance again.

    I had trouble getting a replacement with insurance when I had the warranty when I cracked a screen on my new phone 2years ago. I have to replace this one now because of a dropped phone and cracked screen and am hesitant to use the insurance I’ve rightfully paid for. Last time y’all tried to get me to get the phone fixed. It was not possible where I live.

    I had to contact Consumer Cellular multiple times to finally just get the phone replaced. If I’ve paid the insurance I want a replacement, not a repair run around. It’s not an expensive phone.

    Is there going to be a similar problem this time?

      I’m sorry to hear that happened to your phone, Andy. While SquareTrade covers accidental damage, it doesn’t cover the loss of a phone. If you don’t have the phone in your possession, you won’t be able to file a claim for a replacement.

If the phone is less than a year old though, we would need to go through our warranty process though.     We just filed a claim with Square Trade for a Samsung Galaxy A20 that we purchased last year. My screen only displays a bluish color and then goes to black at the bottom, I cannot see anything on the screen. We we spent $180.00 on the phone and they charged us a deductible of $25. The 2nd guy we talked to wanted to charge us $35 but we mentioned that we were quoted $25. So yes apparently there is a deductible on phones under $200 and apparently it varies.
    They are sending me a replacement phone in 1 to 3 business days, again is this the guaranteed fast replacement?
    We are not happy with SquareTrade, I wish we had never purchased this plan.

      I apologize for the frustration, Cathy. There is a deductible for replacement with some of the protection plans. Whether or not one will be required is detailed when purchasing the phone and the protection plan for it, but I apologize if it was not clear. Replacement orders through the protection plan are shipped and delivered as quickly as possible as well, but we do need to allow a few days for the post office, in case there are delays.

      Great question, David. The protection plan will remain active and roll over to the replacement device, as long as you haven’t filed more than two claims within a continuous 12-month cycle.

    We have the Square Trade insurance on our two phones. I read somewhere that the phones are only covered for 3 years. If that is the case, my phone was 3 years old in April 2021. Not sure age of husband’s phone but may be older. Should we have been notified that the phones are out of coverage?

    • Hi Susan, thanks for your question! If you’re using our Allstate (SquareTrade) protection plan, there isn’t an expiration date for the coverage. If you’re using AppleCare+ and had an iPhone with that, it covers the phone for two years.
