I am pleased to announce that Connie and Jack, our likeable and upbeat cellphone-loving couple, have returned in two new commercials to help tell you more about our affordable cellphone service. The commercials share a common theme: unlike one-size-fits-all companies, Consumer Cellular lets you create a simple cellphone plan that is perfect for you, one that virtually has your name on it. And, perhaps best of all, you never pay for more service than you actually need.
But as they say in Hollywood, it is better to show than to tell. So on with the show. I hope you’ll have as much fun watching the commercials as we had planning, shooting and editing them.
Without further introduction, here are the newest Connie and Jack commercials.
I’d like to remind you to share this with your friends and family. If someone you refer becomes one of our customers, both you and your referral will receive a $10 credit on an upcoming invoice. Now that’s the kind of reward I think both Connie and Jack would appreciate, don’t you?
Good commercials even with annoying background music.
I love the commercials and the music always make me dance lol. I would love to see the actors in their own show. Their chemistry is fantastic. It’s definitely one of my favorite commercial !
I am a member of AARP is there a price changes

Tight editing. fun music and gets the message across. Great!
I like the Connie and Jack commercials quite a bit. Funny, entertaining and they know how to market a good product. Keep them coming!
I think Connie and Jack are just a tad bit obsessive. All they talk about is consumer cellular, bugging their friends, bugging strangers. Every situation or conversation is an opportunity to push consumer cellular. They need help. Of course, all of this is just tongue in cheek on my part. I think the actress that plays Connie is adorable and of course the ads are effective because I certainly do know the name of the service that is being sold.
I worked as an extra on this commercial. It was a lot of fun, and I think that comes across in the film. The actors playing Connie, Jack, and Clyde were just a delight. They have wonderful chemistry in real life, not just on film. The crew was terrific too. I was surprised how talented some of the extras were. Indeed, keep Connie, Jack, and Clyde coming back, and please, keep me in mind to be an extra. I’d love to spend more time with these people.
Hey Ron , how did you get to be an extra in a commercial, sounds exciting
What are the actors name that play Jack & Connie? Are they married?
Thank you for the comment, Ronald. The actors who play Connie and Jack are named Jane and Tim, respectively. They aren’t married in real life, but they do a great job of acting like it!
Tim Van Pelt and Jane Bement Geesman portray Jack and Connie, respectively.
Does anyone know the city the commercial was filmed where they all discuss their unique phone plans?
Thank you for the comment, Paddio. The commercials were shot in and around Portland, Oregon. Thanks!
I would like to know who the actor is who plays in the Fred and Doris plan.. I think he was ina series in the 70’s
I think you are right Susanne. Although the person I am thinking of may be older than this person. I’m glad to see I wasn’t the only one thrown by this.
I really like the commercials and Connie and Jack do seem to be so together.
They do a great job providing the information needed for your product.
Connie looks great for her age!
I’ve looked everywhere but can’t find any info on the black actor who plays Clyde. He resembles the late Bobby Short. So who is he and why is it such a secret?
I actually known “Clyde” for many years. Imagine my surprise to live here in Vegas and see him on TV. He wasn’t actively acting when I met him but was a record exec at a MAJOR record company. I’m not sure if I can post his name here but just know that Mr. W is a GREAT guy!
That is good to hear, Tracy. I have enjoyed seeing him as “Clyde.” All the characters on the C.C. commercials appear fun and upbeat.
Clyde looks like Ben Vereen to me
me too. That’s what I was on here looking up
Me three, I actually mentioned to my children that it was Ben Vereen.
Me too..as a master of fact they ALL look like famous actors…the guy with the frisbee is a Richard Dreyfus look alike, the guy with canoe looks like Ed Asner…the black dancer looks like Ben Vereen, and the black woman looks like a comedian..the only one I can’t quite place is the lady in the canoe duo.
Thats was my thought too.
The shade of Ben & Clyde complexions are very opposite but I can see a resemblance in facial features. Clyde does resemble Bobby Short.
i love my new service and how fast customer service answers. i moved over most of all my phones if jane and tim came to my house or called me id change all of my phones. lol
We love the Connie and Jack commercials. I will stop whatever I’m doing just to watch.
I want Connie and Jack to have their own 30 minute comedy tv show please.
How fun would that be? The 2 of them on a sit-com. Someone needs to call me to be in it. I would love to be in those commercials as well.
How old is Connie??? They are way tooooooo happy
to be married….
Where are these commercials filmed?
Thank you for posting, Robert! Our commercials were filmed in and around Portland, Oregon.
Thank you. It looks like a quaint small town.
I think the actor in the ad with the red canoe looks more like Sid Melton who played the comic relief sidekick to Captain Midnight in the TV series.
Is the actor who plays “Fred” in the Fred and Doris is Sid Melton, who played Charlie Helper on “The Danny Thomas Show” and was in Green Acres as one of the capenters as well as numerous appearances all over tv.
I also thought the guy who played Fred was Sid Melton, but according to what I read Melton died years ago. Who is he?
Whenever I see Fred featured in most of the commercials, I think of someone who may have played Basketball with the Portland Trailblazers many years ago. He is very familiar, wherever he was seen before.
I am in my 30s, when I am at a bar or restaurant I start telling my friends and strangers all about Consumer Cellular. It’s pretty funny.
Why have given the actors names that play Connie and Jack. But not the black actor Clyde. What’s the big secret? I have seen any inquiries. What’s up?
Thanks for the question, Cheryl. We prefer to respect the privacy of our actors, and not post their names unless they wish us to. In addition, it’s fun to read the guesses from our customers. Thank you for asking, and we hope you have a great day!
PLEASE bring “Clyde” back. He was such a refreshing delight, had such a nice smile and he could dance with such graceful movements. Please bring Clyde back. Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback! We also love Clyde, and have enjoyed having him be a part of our commercials. I’ve passed your thoughts on to our marketing department, so thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. We hope you have a great day!
For the record I actually know the actor who plays Clyde. No guessing here. I met him in his past professional career in Los Angeles and found his disposition very calming and his personality is as friendly as his smile. I’m glad to see him so happy and doing so well!
The background music in this commercial sounds a lot like it came from cancer victim Zach Sobiechs “clouds” music he wrote and performed during his last days, is it?
Thank you for asking, Matthew. While the song that is in our commercials is not the song you are referring to, the “Clouds” song is lovely. Thank you for asking!
The actor playing Fred is a stage actor named Ted Schulz. A well respected actor who has worked on Broadway and off-Broadway and in Portland.
I was so sure the actor playing Clyde was Ben Vereen. Am I wrong?
Thank you for asking, Linda. Clyde is not played by Ben Vereen, but the comparison is a fine compliment!
Who is the actress that plays Doris? She looks so familiar, I’m sure I’ve seen her in other things!
Where is the newest commercial filmed with the husband rock climbing—is that Smith Rock in Central Oregon?
Thank you for the comment, Jane. We don’t currently have a commercial featuring Jack rock climbing, but we did film our commercials in Oregon. Thanks for asking!
Who played Fred( by the canoe)or what else did he play on? Looks familiar.
I just saw a new Jack and Connie commercial. What’s up with Jack’s weight loss? I liked Fat Jack much better.
I was wondeting about the weight loss too.
Saw a recent commercial with jack and connie, had jack lost weight or has he been sick?
Thank you for asking, Joyce. The actor who plays Jack (Tim) has just been eating healthy foods and exercising. We promise he is in better health than ever! We appreciate you taking the time to comment today.
9/9/15 Wow have you seen Jack he must of had a heartattack.
hope is in good health
Thank you for asking, John. Tim, who plays Jack, is just staying active and working to be healthy. We appreciate your concern, though! Thank you again for the comment.
Is Jack’s weight loss intentional?
Thank you for asking, Sandra. Tim, the actor who plays Jack, simply made some lifestyle changes. We appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Even my usually unobservant husband commented on Jack’s new look! We like the old look better. If it aint broke, don’t fix it!
Whew!! Glad to hear Tim isn’t sick. I think he should gain a few of those lbs. back! He doesn’t look healthy as he once did. Love the commercials!
I agree. I was so worried he had cancer or something. Glad he’s ok though. I love Jack!!
Well I am glad to hear that the actor Tim , who plays Jack, is not sick because he certainly looks it. He almost doesn’t look like the same person.
Love the commercials and love Jack! Glad to here he’s in good health!
I absolutely love the Jack & Connie commercials! They have a wonderful chemistry & are a joy to watch. I stop what I’m doing anytime one of their commercials come on. They should have their own sitcom! I’m sure Consumer Cellular could their product on the set in strategic places & work various mentions of it in the script. I have some great ideas for it if they want to get in touch with me…
Okay just got to say a couple things its a commercial it’s produced to get a point across they’re not obsessive they’re just being paid to be actors to sell a product ok not real its fake that’s what commercials are
Also concerned jacks weight loss hey it really is just his decision what he wants to be and look like and feel like so what’s up with the put some weight back on who cares if it looks like the same guy or doesn’t look like the same guy again its a commercial! Ok there I feel so much better when I go back to laying on my bamboo pillow and talking on my Consumer Cellular plan
Thank you for your post, Rick. We hope you’re enjoying the new commercials, and please rest assured that Tim, the actor who plays Jack, is in excellent health. Thank you again for your comment!
I’m glad to hear that Jack is okay. As soon as I saw the new commercial I noticed he had lost weight. I was worried he was sick.
Does anyone know who the actress is that plays Doris? She looks so familiar, I’m sure I’ve seen her in other things!
Me and my wife were arguing about the new looking Jack. Im glad yall cleared it up. Of course I lost the argument . I said it was a different Jack. I was a lil upset . Happy to know he is in good health and its the same Jack . But sad I lost the argument
Hi Pete, When I first saw the Jack & Connie commercials with the RV, I thought they would be perfect for a new version of the old Traveling TV Show “Wish You Were Here.” But now knowing that they aren’t married in real life, I guess that wouldn’t work.
Commercials are ridiculous. Old people in boats with phone in hand, walking with phone in hand. People complain about young people & phones but REALLY, in a boat!
It was probably a very important call, Joe. Connie HAD to take it!
Is Jack just losing weight or is he ill. Please let me know because I am noticing the change in his appearance. Thanks!
We’re happy to report that Jack has just lost some weight and is in good health. Thank you for your concern though!
I saw what I believe is the most recent commercial with Jack & Connie & I was amazed at the weight that they have lost, specially Jack. To the point where I am concerned if he is doing alright, so thin. Hope he just decided to get healthy & if that is the case please ask him to comment on what he did. I could stand to loose 30/40 pounds. Hoping all is well?
Oh, duh, silly me, I should have read the comment left on Oct 15th, lol. Am glad to see your response with all is well. Thanks.
Glad to hear that “Jack” is not sick. He looks older that thin, as does a lot people who lost weight. When I lost weight everyone said I looked sick. Go figure. They are funny too.
is jack feeling good he has lost a lot of weight?
Thank you for asking, Pat. Jack is feeling better than ever, just eating better and getting plenty of exercise. We appreciate your concern!
I love the commercials. At first I thought jack was played by a new actor because he looks so different. Glad to know that he is healthy. Info though think the look of the old actor is better. As I said before I love the commercials!
I too recognized Jack’s weight loss and was very confused if what I was seeing was intentional weight loss are uncontrolled weight loss well. I’m glad to hear responses that he’s healthy. I just love watching Jack and Connie’s Consumer Cellular commercials, love their spunk.
We’re glad you like the commercials, Sheila. Thanks for sharing!
Was that Dione Warwick in that last commercial where a couple is sitting on front porch rockers?
Thank you for asking, TW. It wasn’t Dionne Warwick, but a lovely woman none the less. We appreciate you taking the time to comment!
Howdy. Jack Hogan seems to be in a recent commercial. Is it? Thank You…
Enjoy the commercials, but still very concerned about Jacks weight loss. I am not at all convinced that all is well health wise. He plays his part so well, but looks so much older and not nearly as attractive. Wishing him well!
From what I’ve read Jack has taken a new turn on health and this is obviously why he is so un-recognizable. Of course, these are personal decisions but he looks sickly. He looked so much better with a little weight on him. My son and I have argued this is a different person playing the part he looks so changed.
Regardless, the commercials are cute, even if Jack isn’t as cute as before. We all have decisions and if this is his let him be happy.
Who plays the farmer in the last commercials?
I agree that Jack looked a lot better and a lot younger with more weight. I wonder if he is as well as he says he is. Maybe he should have a complete check-up with his doctor. He almost looks like a cancer patient and sometimes that creeps up on a person without their knowledge. Just a concerned person who really enjoys the commercials.
The commercials suck, they are annoying.
We’re sorry our commercials are not to your liking, Mike. Thank you for the feedback, and we hope you have a great day!
Has the man that plays been sick or just lost weight?
Thank you for asking, Mary. Tim, the actor who plays Jack, has made some healthy lifestyle changes, but we assure you he is in good health. Thank you for your concern!
Thank you for the update about Jack. I’m happy to know that he lost weight because he chose to. I really enjoy watching the consumer cellular commercials with Jack and Connie, they have such great chemistry. Looking forward to more Jack and Connie commercials.
We love them too, Tresha! We’re glad you enjoy the commercials, so thank you for letting us know!
I want the “Connie & Jack Show,” featuring all the other characters as well. They all have such great chemistry with each other. We could use some good, old fashioned, light hearted, good natured comedy.
I love their commercials but I would like to know are they a real couple?
Thank you for asking, Anderson! The actors who play Jack and Connie are not married in real life, but they sure have a great time pretending that they are!
Does Consumer Cellular work with an iPhone?

What happened to Clyde??? I miss him! Please bring him back soon!
Thank you for posting, M. Allen! I’m happy to pass your request for more commercials with Clyde on to our marketing department! We did enjoy featuring him in our commercials, and we’re glad to you took the time to make your suggestion. We hope you have a great day!
I am insulted that the actor who played Clyde has not returned in subsequent commercials. As a Black woman I am extremely miffed that this slight has occurred.
Thank you for posting, Miss Elois. We love Clyde, and we’ve enjoyed featuring him multiple times over the years. Our new commercials have some new faces featured, but rest assured, Clyde will always be appreciated as an important part of our marketing efforts. We appreciate your feedback, and hope you have a great day!
Jack is very annoying…..the others are ok. Casting needs to be reviewed.
We appreciate your feedback, Sara. Our commercials are full of talented people, but we understand they may not be for everyone. Thanks for commenting!
Are these Jack and Connie commercials still airing?
Thank you for asking, Joe! We’re featuring some newer commercials at the moment. Some of our newest ads even feature real customers! Connie and Jack will always be a part of the Consumer Cellular family, and we’re just featuring some new friendly faces.
Hi,
In your latest commercials (as far as we can tell) ‘The Best Fit: First Month Free: Plans $15+ a Month’
The actors are at a car show (or local meet) in the background is a ‘40 Ford coupe. It is a rare, specific color and make,so that my father-in-law is positive that it is the one he put together in the Fifties. I am looking to find out anything about the show in an attempt to find out the owner of the Coupe. It was featured in a couple editions of Hot Road magazine in the 50’s and the 20th anniversary edition. Also in Car and Craft magazine at the same
time. My father-in-law would love to share this with the current owner of it is possible…
Any information would be helpful.
Thank you
John
Hi John, that is awesome! I have gone ahead and sent this up to see if there is anything that we can find out. I sent the contact information included with your blog post along so that if we do find anything out we can let you know.
Was the commercials filmed at a car show or were they hired for the shoot
Hi Ron, that’s a great question! I looked into this and one of our most recent commercials was filmed at a car show, I wasn’t able to find out which car show specifically though.
