What’s the discount with AARP’s on the ZMax?
Hi Alonzo, the ZMax 10 is $120 plus tax, and the AARP membership discount does not include a discount off of our phones. If you have an AARP membership, then you’ll receive 5% off of monthly service and usage charges, 30% off of select accessories, and an extended 45-day Risk-Free Guarantee.
Ok I was just checking I am already a new customer.
Love Consumer Cellular, been with them for awhile now. Best carrier around ………
Love your company. Have had no problems since switching from sprint
No dropped call since becoming consumer customer
Love Consumet Cellular, great people and service. My question is the Zmax set up for 5G?
Hi Tom, thanks for your question! The Zmax 10 isn’t a 5G phone, but it is a VoLTE capable phone so it’ll continue to work with the network upgrades.
We love our service too its the best and so are the phones I recommend to all
I want an Apple 7s do you carry them
Hi Pat, we don’t currently offer the Apple iPhone 7 models with our service. However, if you purchase one elsewhere it just needs to be unlocked and GSM-compatible to work on our service.
What are the payments on the ZMax 10?
Hi Debra, the full price of the ZMax 10 is $120 plus tax. However, this phone is available with our EasyPay program as well. You can purchase the phone for a $10 plus tax down payment, and the remaining balance will be included on your monthly bill in 11 interest-free, $10 installments.
I am with another carrier, can I keep my current phone number if I switch to CC and purchase the ZMax 10?
Also you say the Zmax is not 5G? Will it be 5G capable later with a download? I really don’t know if that’s possible but thought I’d ask.
Those are great questions, John. You can transfer your number to our service and use it with the ZMax 10. The ZMax 10 is not a 5G device, and the network compatibility is not something that can be changed with a software update since that compatibility is based on the hardware. If you’re interested in a 5G device, the ones we have available are the Samsung Galaxy S20 and S20+, as well as the Apple iPhone 12 and 12 Pro.
What is the RAM capacity of the Z Max 10?
Thanks for the question, Rebecca. The ZMax 10 has 3GB of RAM.
I’m a bit of a spec guy. I don’t see RAM listed.
Hi Mike, the ZMax 10 has 3GB of RAM.
Do you use AT&T towers? Or, what towers do you use to offer service? Thank You.
Thank you for posting, Crystal. We use both AT&T and T-Mobile towers for our service. You can review our coverage on our website here.
How difficult is it to transfer all info from my Moto 4E to the ZMax10?
Hi Marlene, generally the easiest way to transfer your information would be through your Google account, and information on how to do that can be found through Google’s support section directly.
We’re can I find phone case and screen cover for the zmaz10?
Hi Tina, thanks for your question. You can order accessories through us for the phone case. Otherwise, you can look around online to see about purchasing accessories for the phone.
Who is the manufacturer of the ZMax 10 smartphone?
Hi Steve, thanks for your question. The phone is made by ZTE.
We have comsumer cellular for the cell phone and have been very pleased with it. We have internet, tv and land line with Spectrum. What we would like to know is do you offer internet service to add to the acct. we already have? How about land line? We want to reduce our cost of Spectrum. THank you.
Hi Susan, thanks for your question! We don’t offer home WiFi services for our customers, it is just the cellular service.
My situation:
My current phone has been abandoned by Motorola for security updates, therefore I must buy a new phone if I want to avoid having my identity, life savings, and all investments stolen as a result of driving past a rogue phempto cell or malicious access point.
I do not want to buy a phone only to have it be unsupported before I saved any money by buying outright instead of locking in a 2-year contrtact or something. given the choice of being locked into a contract and having my life savings intact, or running with a budget no-contract carrier where I buy the phone outright, but risk literally everything I own and have acquired over the past 50 years, I must select the safety of having a security-supported phone under contract.
I dislike contracts, however, and I am currently with Republic wireless. I would stay with them, but they refuse to offer any assurance whatsoever that a $100, $400, or $1300 phone will be supported tomorrow or next week, and I cannot justify an expensive purchase without knowing if I will need to replace it tomorrow because the manufacturer decided to stop providing security updates.
This is a deal breaker to me. What phones/plans do you offer that could address my concerns?
Hi Brian, thanks for your interest! We don’t have contracts when it comes to our phones. All of the phones we currently offer are VoLTE capable which means they should work for a long time to come since there aren’t near future plans to get rid of the 4G LTE network. We can’t say when Android will stop updating a phone though as this is at their discretion, Apple phones do tend to update their phones for longer periods of time though.
Does this phone have larger letters and numbers like the Doro phone does?
Great question, Linda. The smartphone does have an accessibility option which would allow for you to set up the phone to have larger letters to make reading easier on it.
Does the zmax come with any accessories?
Hi Jackie, thanks for your question. The only accessory that comes with it is a wall charger.
CAn i keep my samsung 7 phone
Hi Frank, thanks for your interest! If the phone is unlocked from the current provider, is GSM-compatible, and VoLTE capable, it may work on our network. We can’t guarantee compatibility for all models, but we’ll do all we can to see if we can get it connected for you.
I have just received my new ZTE Zmax 10 Smartphone and it is FANTASTIC! I am hoping that you will be carrying accessories for that new model phone? Need to find a case and screen shield. Any help would be appreciated!
Hi Scott, while we don’t have a screen protector for the ZMax 10, we do have a combo pack that includes a car charger and flex gel case. You can review accessories when logged into your account here. If you want to look for a case or screen protector elsewhere, the model name is ZTE Z6250.
Is there a case for zmax 10
Hi Wallace, thanks for your question. We do have a combo pack that comes with a case for the phone and a car charger as well that can be purchased and used with the phone. Otherwise, you can also look around online or at other third party seller options to see if there is one that will work for you.
Did you ever find a third party seller for the z max 10.
I received a new phone but no case was available at the store how do I get one ? ZTE AVID 579
Hi Eldon, thanks for your question. We don’t partner with retail locations to sell our accessories, but you can order a case combined with a car charger by giving us a call at 800-686-4460 or if you log into your account at here and click on the three horizontal lines before selecting the option to purchase an accessory.
WHERE CAN I BUY ACCESSORIES FOR ZMAX 10. IS THERE ANOTHER NAME I SHOULD BE LOOKING FOR?
Hi Danese, thanks for your question! You can buy the accessories through us via your online account or by giving us a call at 800-686-4460. Otherwise, you can also go online and enter the phone’s model information to find some as well.
Do you have a phone protector cover for the Zmax 10? I can not find one that fits this phone.
Hi Kim, thanks for your question. We do sell cases for the Zmax 10. These can be purchased by giving us a call at 800-686-4460 or by going online to your account here and click on the three horizontal lines next to where you see your phone and select to order the accessories.
Does the Zmax10 phone have an FM receiver activated? If not, can I activate it?
Hi Ron, the ZMAX 10 does have an FM receiver built-in. All you need to do is plug in some wired headphones, and open the FM Radio app on the phone.
does the zmax10 have nfc?
That’s a great question, Anthony. The ZMax 10 does not come with NFC.
What is the wifi spec for the ZMax 10? Is it 5Ghz capable, or only 2.4Ghz? Thanks!
Hi William, thanks for your question. The phones will read those frequencies, including the 5Ghz WiFi spec, if your router has that capability, then the phone should work with it.
I am having a difficult time trying to find a gel case for my new Z62500CC phone. Love the phone and would like to protect it from accidental drops. Any suggestions where I can find one?
Hi Bruce, we have a flex-gel case available as part of our combo pack. You can find it by logging in here or by calling us at 888-345-5509.
The pictures, videos and You Tube videos have very little color and actually look like film negatives on my new ZMAX 10. Is this the best the ZMAX 10 can do or is it my ZMAX 10?
Hi Rita, thanks for your question. It sounds like there may be a setting enabled in the phone that has changed the colors. We’d be happy to look into this with you though to see if we can get that corrected for you, just give us a call at 888-548-6490 or you can also chat with us here and we’d be happy to help.
Do you all have service in 22722 area code? I am looking for a new phone for my wife. Thanks
Hi Steven, we have moderate coverage available in 22722. This means that you should have sufficient service outdoors, but indoor service may be limited.
Also, does the phone already come programmed with your new number or will we have to call in sorry just alot of good reviews about your company and has gotten me very curious.
Hi Steven, if you’re transferring to our service, then you’ll need to call us once you get the phone. If we’re assigning a new number, then it will be sent active.
I still didnt find screen for Zmax 10
Hi Pat, thanks for your post! Unfortunately, we don’t sell a screen protector for that model of phone. However, you can look around online to see if there is one available to be purchased.
Hi Nicole and Jacob – you seem to be the ones who answer questions.
Why does Consumer Cellular have to call a AT&T number first to make an international call. And when this this inconvenience start since last month we could call International directly?
An explanation would be appreciated.
Hi Yvon, thanks for your question. With our new AT&T network SIM cards, we need to have you dial that number to make sure that you aren’t charged AT&T’s rates for international dialing rather than ours.
It is on T Mobile site that they will not support the ZMAX ZTE after January 29 2021. Because it is not volte compatible. Is this true??????? I just got ours
Hi Steven, thank you for your question. The ZTE ZMAX 10 is VoLTE capable so we will continue to be able to support it going forward. If that changes at all though, we will let our customers know!
I HAVE A SAMSUNG GALAXY J3. Trying to set up for Samsung pay. It tells me that it isn’t supported on my phone. Why not.
Thank you for taking the time to post, Newton. The Samsung Galaxy J3 is not listed on Samsung’s website as a model compatible with their Samsung Pay app. Since we’re not the app developers, we don’t have any information behind that decision.
My wife is planning to change to your service next week from ATT and buy a ZMAX 10 phone. I have a couple of questions first.
How long would she have to remain on Consumer Cellular to get the phone unlocked if she decided to change to another carrier?
Who actually manufacturers this phone?
How is your coverage in the 37922 area?
Thank You
Thank you for posting, Robert. In general, a device needs to be in service for 160 days before it can be unlocked, in addition to being fully paid. The ZMAX 10 is manufactured by ZTE, and I also see we have great coverage available in 37922.
Trying to find a decent case for my ZMAX 10, any good suggestions? Not finding much for this particular model online.
We have a Combo Pack available for the ZMAX 10 which includes a flex gel case, Kenneth. That can be ordered when you log in here. If you’re looking for a different case, you can search online through websites like Amazon. The model name for the ZMAX 10 is the ZTE Z6250CC.
Where is the Zmax 10 manufactured?
Hi Jimmy, the ZTE ZMax 10 is made in China.
What is the recommended type of battery charger for a car?
Great question, Thomas. The ZMax 10 has a USB-C charging port, so we recommend using a USB-C charger. We have chargers available when placing the order, or you can log in on our website if you already have our service. We can also help if you call 888-345-5509.
Your advisors need to stop giving scripted answers and looking up the information on the questions asked.
I have seen numerous people ask about a case for your Z 10 Max (Z2650CC) and all answers are the same:
“Jacob at Consumer Cellular says
NOVEMBER 1, 2020 AT 3:09 PM
Hi Kim, thanks for your question. We do sell cases for the Zmax 10. These can be purchased by giving us a call at 800-686-4460 or by going online to your account here and click on the three horizontal lines next to where you see your phone and select to order the accessories.”
I challenge you to fine any cases you carry for that phone. All you find with you follow those directions is a Boom Head piece, Car Charger, Wall Charger and a memory card.
I feel you owe your loyalty customers that much – actually resurch the questions asked about a particular phone, because one answer does not fit all
Hi Paul, thanks for your post. It looks like the original answer was a few months ago so while we may have had our combo pack, which includes a case as well as a car charger at that time, it is no longer being offered as we get newer models in. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused if you’re looking for that case specifically. You can also look online to for other options as well if needed.
Where can I find a case for the Z6250CC phone
Hi Melvin, a flex-gel case is included with the Combo Pack that you can purchase when logged in online here>, or by calling us at 888-345-5509.
What Samsung phone does the Zmax10 compare to? Will it support a flashlight app.
Hi Brian, the Samsung Galaxy A21 is comparable to the ZMAX 10, and should be able to support a flashlight app.
What processor is used in zmax 10? I assume it is Mediatek, is it Helio A25 by chance?
Hi Brian, thanks for your question! At this time, the only information we have for the processor for the ZMax 10 phone is that the processor is a 1.8 GHz Octa-core processor.
I have been a long time Consumer Cellular customer, love the customer service, and the connectivity, rarely have dropped calls and able to get service in most places. That’s all great, now here is where Consumer Cellular is lacking; the disclaimers that should come with the advertising of the phones and the cost of the phones are actually higher than other providers. An example is that most of the android phones are NOT compatible with syncing with hearing aids, something that a company that has a target consumer of greater than 50 years old. Also the ZTE ZMAX 10 phone should have multiple disclaimers as it is very lacking in numerous areas. Things that you only find out after using the phone for longer than the 30 day guarantee. If you’re looking for a minimalist smart phone then look no further, but if you need a phone that is comparable to an apple then keep looking.
Thank you for taking the time to post, Robert. We certainly appreciate the feedback. Pricing on our phones generally matches the MSRP for the particular device, or what the cost would be from the manufacturer. If a different carrier is offering the same model at a different price, that is based on the agreement that company has with the manufacturer and their terms of service.
On our website, all of our phones have the Hearing-Aid Compatibility (HAC) rating listed if you click “View Details”. The ZTE ZMax 10 in particular has an HAC rating of M3/T3. However, as with any third-party device, we cannot guarantee compatibility with all hearing aid devices. If there are ever any questions about our devices, we’re always happy to help if you give us a call at 888-345-5509 or chat with us here.
Worst experience with a cell phone EVER – ZTE ZMax10. I’m a CC customer and have been pleased with their service so far, except for this phone. Ordered 4 Aug 2021, received 6 Aug 2021.
Phone worked well for a few weeks and then the ringtone and notification sounds stopped working. Rebooted the phone, all was good for a few hours. Then I missed some phone calls because the ringtone did not sound. Checked all sounds levels, nothing had changed, phone was NOT in Airplane mode or in Do Not Disturb mode.
Contacted CC support via chat, explained issue. CC support suggested that a factory reset would resolve the issue. IT DID NOT. Contacted CC support on 22 Sep 2021. Waste of time, support rep simply would not listen to me when I said I had spent hours troubleshooting the issue and I have 40+ years of troubleshooting skills. I was told a factory reset was required before returning the phone. Performed ANOTHER factory reset, same sound issues. Contacted CC support on 23 Sep 2021 and was informed that the phone CANNOT be returned since it’s past the 30-day period and also that there is NO warranty on the phone. So I’m stuck with a $100 piece of junk and Consumer Cellular won’t back their “great customer support”. So now I’m using my previous phone and debating whether to change to another provider.
Hi Greg, thank you for your post. That is definitely not the experience we want you to have with our service and we’d like to look into this more with you. Please give us a call at 800-686-4460 or you can also chat with us here for further assistance.
How do I use email? Whether I reply directly to an email or create one, I get a “failed” report. And, how do I use my Contacts list icon to send emails?
Hi Carol, thanks for your questions. If the phone isn’t able to send that email, there may be something going on with the email itself and I’d recommend removing the email from the phone and then sign back in to see if that helps it. Or, there could be something going on with data. We’d be happy to walk you through that process if you’d like to give us a call at 800-686-4460 or chat with one of our agents here for further assistance.
The “ZTE ZMax Pro” phone (not this phone, but a similar phone made by ZTE) has a “Gallery” app that allows you to organize your photos into albums, as described in this video: (https://youtu.be/mg3YL1F3AKw). In your how-to-video for this phone (see https://youtu.be/SPGZSv94PwM?t=130) the narrator shows a screen containing all the apps, and there does NOT appear to be a “Gallery” app. [Note that the “Gallery” app is entirely different from the Google “Photos” app. ] Is the ZTE “Gallery” app available for this phone (presumably in the Google Play Store)?
Hi Dave, thanks for your post. The ZMax Pro 10 should have a gallery app that is already installed for the phone. If you don’t see it listed, you can look in the app store for one to use, otherwise, using Google Photos is another great option since saving it there will allow for you to easily move and transfer those photos in the future.
Would like to know if i can use ZMax 10 as a hotspot for useage with a standalone P.C. or a notebook computer. Presently i have a 4G Mobile Hotspot from Sprint that is connected to my computer which i can ONLY use for the internet. I only get 4 GB of data for 40.00, and i figured if i can get a 10 GB plan for 40.00/mth. from Consumer Cellular, and use it for both cellphone use and also for my internet use, then this should work for me. My biggest question is will the ZMax 10 configured as a hotspot be fast enough to download videos and large amounts of data to my Home computer?
Hi Michael, thanks for your interest! We do offer a hotspot feature that the ZMax 10 can use. If you have a good connection to the data, it can process that data usage.
is the zmax 10 capable of doing online banking? Cannot set up and wondering if there is a lacking of capacity somewhere.
Hi Anna, thanks for your question. While the phone can download apps in the app store, we can’t guarantee compatibility for all features. If you’re having trouble with service at all, such as the data connection or short codes, give us a call at 800-686-4460 or chat with one of our agents here.
If this phone works with the 5G changes and it is 4G why won’t my 4G smart phone work????
Hi Emily, for a 4G phone to work it must be VoLTE-capable, and compatible with our service. Not all 4G phones have VoLTE, and not all that do have VoLTE are compatible with our service.
I have the zmax 10. I am having trouble signing in to my accounts like my va. What could be the trouble? I have consumer cellular.
Can you add additional screens to home screen on this Z Max 10 phone for additional occasionally but less used apps?
Hi Dave, thanks for your question. Moving an app icon should help to create a new page for that app. If you need any help with how to move the app around, give us a call at 800-686-4460 or chat with one of our agents here for further assistance.
How much is the phone ?
Hi Denise, thanks for your question! The ZMax 10 is $119 plus tax. You can view this phone option and others by going to our website here.
I am in my 80ies and want a very easy phone to use…Thinking of a zmax 10. I know this sounds crazy, but I use my cell part very seldom and am mostly interested in getting audio driving directions and being able to post pictures to Facebook and craigs list… Is it possible with this phone and is it easy to use?
Thanks, Angela
Hi Angela, those are some great questions! That phone can do those things and more. It’s a simple to use phone and if you’d like, you can take a look at some of our how-to videos and the manual ahead of time to see if this is a good fit for you. You can find them on our website here. Just let us know if there are any questions!
