Value, Flexibility Make Consumer Cellular Tops for Loyalty

This is the kind of news that makes my day.

For the second year in a row, the nationwide customer research firm Market Force Information has determined that, by a sizable margin, Consumer Cellular has the most loyal customers in the wireless industry.

The scoring system used by Market Force determines a “composite loyalty index” by surveying customers about their experiences with their wireless carrier in multiple categories. Our composite score of 73% was nearly 20 points higher than our nearest no-contract competitor—and more than 30 points higher than the score for the top rated full-service carrier.

Being evaluated by a respected, independent source is a terrific way for us to learn important details about what we’re doing right, and what we’re doing wrong. We were especially gratified to find that in this survey, you gave us exceptional scores in three really important categories: for “Ease to Change Plans,” our score was 92%. For “Plan Flexibility,” it was 85%, and for “Value,” 83%.

The survey also sent an important message to the wireless industry in general. Market Force’s summary notes, “Consumers clearly gave a heads up to carriers that they need better service.” So while we’re flattered by your praise, we’re also aware it doesn’t mean we can take your happiness for granted. In fact, it tells us we need to work even harder to continue providing the unmatched quality you’ve come to expect from us.

I want to offer a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the survey, and rated us so highly. It’s a truly humbling honor for all of us at Consumer Cellular.

  2. Ben P. says

Nice to be the best, but it’s time to bump up the data plans. The 200Mb -> 500Mb, 500Mb -> 1Gb, 1.5Gb -> 2Gb and KEEP the current rates.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great suggestions, Ben. We do our best to make sure our plans fit the needs of our customers, so we appreciate your feedback regarding the plans. I’ve passed this on to our management team for review. Thank you for reaching out to us today!

  3. Stuart Smith says

Congratulations. However, one thing is confusing about that report regarding Graph 5 (Non-Contract Providers Ranked by Attributes): If Consumer Cellular and Cricket both use AT&T’s network (the latter being owned by AT&T, I believe), how is it that Consumer Cellular ranks higher in the “technical” categories (Network Coverage, Data Speeds, Few Dropped Calls, Call Clarity)? Thanks. Keep up the great work.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for posting, Stuart. The survey is based on the opinions and individual experiences of the customers who provided responses.

  4. Roy Jacoby says

I am fairly new to your company. So far I really like it. Being a senior citizen myself,I think it is great that you cater to the retirement community. Thanks to your billing structure, I only needed to purchase the minutes that I would use. I was treated very well by your people from my first call until I signed up for your service at our local Target store.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s great to hear, Roy. Thank you for sharing your experience with others here on the blog. We look forward to serving you for years to come!

  5. Sandy says

I understand this rating completely! I have used Consumer Cellular for years. Occasionally I check in with big company stores (Verizon, ATT & T , etc) and not only can they not equal my plan in value, I must stop them and make them explain the ‘double talk’ they use while trying to sell! I appreciate your willingness to talk with me and explain in a way I can understand! Thank you!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate your post, Sandy, and we are grateful to count you as a customer. Thank you for posting!

  6. John says

Congratulations to Consumer Cellular, but this doesn’t surprise me. My generation, the 64 plus age group, likes to keep things as understandable as possible and as reasonably priced as possible. I have Parkinson’s Disease, so I carry a Consumer flip phone. I would like to have a few more features, but to get me to upgrade, I would still need an easy to handle, durable and understandable that would still keep my monthly bill low. Thanks for the good service so far

  9. David says

You can’t beat Consumer Cellular’s price plan however, ever since they switched from Verizon to AT&T the service is Maine is at best spotty. The flip phone does all I need it to do but the battery life is poor. 3 or 4 short calls and it’s on the charger. If your thinking of switching to Consumer Cellular check with people in your area to see who has the best coverage.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, David. We’re sorry to hear that you’re experiencing spotty service, and would like to troubleshoot the issue for you to see if we can resolve it. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509 at your convenience, and we will be happy to help you. We appreciate you posting, and we hope you have a great day!

We just returned home from vacationing in the lakes region of NH and service was almost nonexistent. Friends tracfone worked great. Hope CC can improve this service soon. Phone does work well in RI.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, Marc. If you like, we can look at the area and see if any towers were under maintenance or review the coverage further. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll be happy to assist you. We can also look at any other areas you’re planning to visit soon to give you an expectation of your coverage there as well. We appreciate you posting!

I really like this plan, it’s simple, easy to read the online statement, and I like that the plan is flexible. I am trying to get my friend on the plan with me. I may have him give in to the switch soon when he realizes that his phone plan isn’t worth all the trouble of calling the company due to phone issues. They don’t have a quality selection of phones like Consumer Cellular do. I’ve been with you for several years now and have been very happy ever since. Keep up the good work.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you so much for posting, Daphne! We truly appreciate your kind words. We look forward to serving you for many years to come!

i’ve had consumer cellular for 10 days and just received an email alert that i’ve used up 203 minutes out of 250 which is impossible for me ……if i call i have to be on hold for 15 minutes which will eat more minutes…..someone please help me…..perhaps i’ve done something wrong in the set up.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Marci. All calls made to customer service are free of charge, so you’ll never use minutes from your plan when you have a question or need some help. I took a look at your account, and I see that our account advisors were able to assist you yesterday and adjust some of your settings. If we can help you with anything else at this time, please don’t hesitate to call us back at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you posting, and we hope you have a great day!

  13. Rene' says

When I signed up for the $10 talk plan, I wAs told that if I went over $5 worth of minutes, my talk plan would kick up to the next level with 250 minutes at $15.00 and I would start the next month back at $10.00. I rarely use my cell phone. I just logged in to realize that I was stuck on the $15.00 plan, just manually changed it back. Did I misunderstand or should each month start fresh at my chosen plan?
    thank you,
    RMB

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We apologize for any confusion, Rene. It is correct that if you exceed your monthly plan, you’ll automatically be moved to the next one so that you never have to worry about overage charges. You will need to switch back to the other plan each month however. We can help you do this over the phone at 888-345-5509, or you can make the change via My Account on our website. We’re happy to talk with you more about this, so please don’t hesitate to give us a call. Thank you for taking the time to post, and we hope you have a wonderful day!
