The Huawei MediaPad tablet — mobility, convenience and entertainment.

Out and about, you have probably noticed more and more people using those sleek tablets that almost look like large smartphones. Not only can they perform many of the same tasks a personal computer does, they are far more portable.

We’re especially excited to announce the addition of our first tablet, The Huawei MediaPad — a powerful Android device that will give you more freedom than ever. From basically anywhere, you’ll be able to take pictures, watch movies and surf the internet at 4G LTE speed. Even better, you can connect via Wi-Fi anytime you like (we always recommend doing so to conserve the data from your plan).

Another popular use of newer tablets is for video chatting — the next best thing to being there in person! If you can’t travel to visit loved ones, it’s endearing to at least see them live on video.

You’ll like the quality of the MediaPad’s sharp 5.0-megapixel front and 2.0-megpixel rear cameras, and you won’t have to struggle seeing anyone on its vivid 9.6” screen (an 800 x 1280 pixel display). If you like keeping your photos and videos with you on the go, you’ll appreciate its 16GB of memory and the ability to support up to a 128GB micro-SD card.

On trips away from home, the MediaPad makes a perfect travel companion. Time will fly by on long rides whether you’re writing emails, reading e-books or watching movies. It weighs under a pound, measures about 6” x 10” and is roughly 1/3” thick, so it slides nicely into a small bag.

With the powerful battery, you can watch movies for up to 12 hours off-line or surf the internet for up to 6.5 hours via Wi-Fi or our cellphone network. Its high-performance 1.2GHz quad-core processor will definitely keep up with whatever you’re doing. And, you can even make and receive phone calls using a headset in a pinch if you like!

The MediaPad is especially affordable at just $200. With EasyPay, our 0% financing plan, you can get it for just $50 to start. Then, make 6 interest-free payments of only $25. Add it to your cellphone plan for just $10, and you can share your data plan for internet access anywhere.

Our award winning support team will be more than happy to assist you in learning how to use your MediaPad, too. Just call us at 888-345-5509! We can get one on the way to you, or you can order one now just by clicking here.

Once you receive your MediaPad, we bet it won’t sit idle for long. There’s too much fun to be had!

Can I use my Samsung tablet.? What would it cost to set it up and each month.?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Ed. Some tablets can be used with one of our SIM cards, and it would be treated just like another device on your plan. You would share your plan data, and it’s just an additional $10 per month. We do caution you that we can’t guarantee your tablet will work with our service. We’re happy to talk with you about it at 888-345-5509 if you like. We appreciate you taking the time to comment today!

  2. Gene Story says

Approx how much data would it use in a given month

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Gene. It really depends on how and where you use the MediaPad. If you are using the tablet with a Wi-Fi connection primarily, it wouldn’t require much data from your plan. If you plan on using it on the go, you would use more data. In general, streaming videos and music using a cellular signal requires more data than checking Facebook or email. However, with our flexible plans, you can give it a try and adjust your plan as needed. We’ll even send you usage alerts so you know how much data you’re using and if a plan change is in order. If we can answer any questions for your about the MediaPad or about our plans, we’re happy to help you at 888-345-5509. We really appreciate you taking the time to post today!

  3. Gene Story says

Not sure I understand data? In minutes or words how long is the 30 data I now have hope it is not a dumb question.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

It’s a great question, Gene. Data usage can be a confusing topic as your usage really depends on how you’re using your phone. Checking email, watching videos, using Facebook and surfing the web all use various amounts of data. Talking on your phone or sending text messages won’t use data from your plan. With the 30MB plan like yours, you could send plenty of emails or watch a few videos and stay within your plan. If you were to stream music for 1 hour or so, you would likely exceed that 30MB of data. However, if you’re using Wi-Fi, you can do all of those things without using data from your plan, so you can save it for when you’re away from home or on the go. We’re happy to talk with you about your usage habits and help you select a plan that will work for you. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can answer any questions you may have. Thank you for posting, as this is a common question among our customers. We appreciate your time, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

      You’re very welcome, Gene!

      • Brent Mancini says

I see more and more companies offering plans without taxes and extra fees! Is CC planning to offer this great feature with their plans?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Brent! We’re always looking for new and exciting ways to serve our customers and provide them with affordable cellphone service. While we don’t have any changes to our plans to announce at this time, I’ve passed your idea on to our management team for review. If our plans change in the future, we’ll be sure to let our customers know here on our blog and on our social media channels. Thank you for posting today!

  5. Dennis Lozen says

I completely missed the price of the mediapad, I. shopping for one right now.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Enjoy your shopping, Dennis! Our Huawei MediaPad T1 10 is available for $200, or you can take advantage of our EasyPay program and pay $50 to start, then six payments of $25. Best of all, it’s interest free! Once you receive your tablet, let us know what you think!

  6. Sarah Smith says

Did you find out if we can use our Samsung tablets? I have the 10.1 and never really learned how to use it and wondered if I can try that now with Consumer Cellular. The cost is $10.00/mo? Thanks, in advance, for your help.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Sarah! We do have some customers who have tried using their SIM card with a tablet. You’ll need to make sure that your tablet will accept our SIM card, so we recommend checking the manual first. Like any other device, we may need to adjust some settings in order for all functions to work with our service. Adding any other line or device to your plan will indeed be $10 per month, and your tablet will share data with the other phones on your plan. We want to remind you that using your tablet may require more data than you expect, so always keep Wi-Fi on when you can. That way, you’ll save your data for when you really need it. We appreciate you taking the time to post today, and if we can answer any questions for you, we’re happy to do so at 888-345-5509. Have a wonderful day!

      • Scott says

Seems to me you’d only need thus Huawei tablet if you wanted to use it away from any WiFi, since Amy other tablet prob includes wufi but not Cellular. So any price diff between the Huawei and competing tablets is b/c the Huawei includes Cellular. Am I seeing that right?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Scott. There are a variety of tablets in the marketplace and many different ways to compare them. Factors such as screen size, storage, speed and indeed cellular capabilities are all things to consider. Our MediaPad is a great option in general, but many customers find the ability to access the internet on the go to be a big selling point. If we can answer any other questions you may have about the MediaPad or about our service, we’re always happy to help at 888-345-5509. Thank you for taking the time to post today!

        • Ken McEnany says

There are many tablets on the market now that can accept a SIM card for sharing data from whatever cellular plan you have. In addition to data, most of these tablets allow you to make calls and send text messages as well.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

There are a variety of options out there, Ken. The MediaPad is designed to work well with our service, and while we’re happy to help you use a SIM card with another tablet, we can’t guarantee that all of the features will work properly. We appreciate your suggestions, and we appreciate you taking the time to post!

  7. Nita says

Any chance that Consumer Cellular will offer iPads to it’s customers? I bought my iPhone 6s Plus from you and it couldn’t have been easier, including the Account section that lets me make additional payments until it’s completely paid for.

I would like to see the option for getting an iPad through CC, as an additional line on my plan, when my phone payments are completed.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the suggestion, Nita! You can add a tablet, such as an iPad, to your plan as an additional line. At this time, we don’t have the iPad available, but I’ve passed your idea on to our product team for review. We’re glad you are enjoying your new iPhone, and if any new options become available, we’ll be sure to let you know. Thanks again for posting today!

  8. Roger Schroeder says

Since you are now offering a WIFI tablet is there any thought being given to increase the Data Plans to like 10GB so that this table can be used without costing so much in Data costs?

    Thanks

    Roger

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Roger. We are always working to create plans that are the best fit for our customers and that are affordable, too. At this time, we don’t have any changes to announce, but if we update our plans we will be sure to let you know. I’ve passed your feedback on to our management team as well, so thank you for providing it. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and please let us know if we can answer any other questions for you. Have a great day!

  9. RICHARD ESSIG says

Lots of good advice in these comments! Keep up the efforts to give more data for less cost to us customers!

  10. John Colpean says

Can I just get a data plan for my tablet?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, John. You may be able to use our SIM card with your tablet, but it would need to be unlocked and use GSM technology. While we can’t guarantee your tablet will work with our SIM card, we’re happy to try! For most customers, it’s very cost effective to add a line for a tablet or other device since it’s just an additional $10 per month and all devices share the same plan. You can take a look at our plan options here, and if you have any additional questions, please feel free to call us at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we hope you have a great day!

  11. Nancy White says

Going to purchase your new tablet. Will I have assistance in setting up the additional line or does just automatically go with the purchase?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Nancy. Your new tablet will come with a SIM card already installed, so you won’t need to do anything else to get started. It will show up on your account as a second line for just $10 per month. If we can answer any other questions you may have about your new tablet or about our service, please feel free to call us at 888-345-5509. Be sure to checkout our How-To videos as you get to know your new device! We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

Where do I go to buy the consumer cellular new tablet. I dont see it listed in your devises.

  13. Cecelia Cotton says

I bought my Dad a tablet and a flip phone through consumer cellular. He passed in 2019 so I cancelled the service. Is it possible to have the service turned back on so the tablet can be used to surf the web?

    • Hi Cecilia, thanks for your interest! You can open an account with and order a new SIM card to use in the tablet on our network. Just as a reminder, any tablet that is brought over will need to be unlocked from all providers, be GSM-compatible, and VoLTE capable. If the tablet worked previously on our network, we should be all set. We just can’t guarantee compatibility for all models if a new one is being brought over, but we’ll do all that we can to see if we can get it connected for you.
