Get a free SIM card. Then, use your old phone with us.

You may not know this, but many cellphones from other carriers are compatible with Consumer Cellular service, too. Since we never require a customer to purchase a new phone from us, you may use your current mobile device. In just a few quick steps, you can switch it over to Consumer Cellular service while keeping your same phone and phone number, too.

We know your current cellphone may work just fine, and you may even love using it. That’s why we offer a free SIM card so you can easily switch over your old phone to our cellular service. First, be sure you confirm that you’re no longer in a contract with your previous provider. Your device must be an unlocked GSM phone that accepts SIM cards, which typically means it’s a phone that was previously used with AT&T or T-Mobile.

Getting started is easy. Simply call us or go online to order your free SIM card. As always, shipping the card is free. Or, just go to a Target or Sears store to purchase the SIM card for $10 (On your first month’s invoice you’ll see a $10 credit back, which ultimately makes the card free). We also provide all of the various sizes of SIM cards for the wide array of phones out there. To locate a store near you, look here: https://www.consumercellular.com/storelocator

When you get your new SIM card, give us a call. We’ll quickly activate your phone, and you’ll be good to go.

I’ve had an issue where I called customer support and they either can’t, or won’t tell me if my phone would work with CC.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for letting us know, Linda. In general, unlocked GSM phones work best with our service, or those used with AT&T or T-Mobile. We can’t guarantee that your phone will work with our service, but we are happy to send you a free SIM card to test. With our 30 day Risk-Free Guarantee, you can always try our service, and if it isn’t a good fit with your phone, you can cancel, no questions asked. • Terry says

I have a Samsung Galaxy S III phone, from Verizon and I’m wondering the same thing

Thank you for posting, Terry. We have had some luck using Verizon phones that have a SIM card slot. We’re happy to try our SIM card with your phone, we just ask that you ensure it is unlocked by the previous carrier before doing so. A friend around the corner from me has Consumer Cellular through AARP, and I just joined AARP a few weeks ago. I have been a PrimeCo/Verizon customer since 1995, and a few months ago I finally upgraded my Vintage Maroon colored PrimeCo Qualcomm QCP-1960 cell to a Verizon HTC 626 so I could text and keep up with my kids. Would you know if your companies SIM card will work with my HTC 626? Thanks for Your Time…..Regards,

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Jeff! In general, unlocked GSM phones work best, but if your phone has a SIM card slot, we’re happy to give it a try! We appreciate your interest, Tony. To use your own T-Mobile Sidekick with our service, the phone will need to be unlocked and able to use a SIM card. Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee compatibility for every phone model, but we generally have good luck using T-Mobile phones on our service.

  3. Raymon says

Will m older model LG Electroncs, Model CU515 currently on AT&T work with your sim card?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Raymon. In general, phones used with AT&T work very well with our SIM card. We would be happy to try! You can order our SIM card over the phone, at a Target or Sears store, or here on our website. Best of all, it’s free of charge, so there is no risk to you. And with our 30 day Risk-Free Guarantee, you can try our service to see if it is a good fit for you. Thanks again for commenting!

      • Cynthia says

Do tmobile phones work with your company i need a sims card but not sure what to do if it dont

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Cynthia. In general, phones used previously with T-Mobile are a good fit with our service. You will need to be sure that it is unlocked, and that must be done by the previous carrier. Then, all you need is one of our SIM cards. You can find them on our website, at a Target or Sears store, or you can call us at 888-345-5509 and we’ll be happy to assist you with ordering one. Thank you for asking us about our SIM cards, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

  4. richard harris says

will consumer cellular work with a tracfone? thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Richard. Tracfone devices can be either GSM or CDMA, so you would need to confirm that your phone is an unlocked, GSM device. If that is the case, our SIM card may indeed be a good fit. While we can’t guarantee our SIM card will work with every phone, we are always happy to try. Best of all, the SIM card is free so there is nothing to lose! We can get one on the way to you, or you can pick one up from your local Target or Sears store. You can order one on our website here, or give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we can get you started. Thank you for commenting!

  5. Emma Hossack says

On April 27 I was at Sears and had my old phone re activated and was told by you that I was to send the iPhone and accessory back to get credit and you would send a return slip for it. I have not received a notice of intent or a return slip. I am wondering why.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Emma. We have processed your return, and you should have a return label in your inbox now. I’ve sent you an email with the next steps you need to take, so please let me know if you need any further assistance. We appreciate you reaching out to us! Have a wonderful day.

  6. Dora Di Mascio says

I have a Motorola/RAZA V3m from Verizon sent as an update, then cancel and switch to t-moble w/a new number. The phone is new, I would like to use it now. It does not have a SIM card, instead, there is the drop in Motorola battery like. What are the options here? Thank you!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Dora. After doing some research, it seems that your Motorola device is a CDMA phone that doesn’t take a SIM card. Unfortunately, these phones typically do not work well with our service as they use a different type of technology. We have a variety of affordable phones available, and we would be happy to work with you to find a good fit for your needs. You can view our phone lineup here on our website, or you can visit a local Target or Sears store as well. Also, we can assist you over the phone at 888-345-5509. Thank you again for reaching out, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

  7. Harry Rodriguez says

I have a Motorola Moto G from Freewheel. Will this phone work with your Sim card?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a good question, Harry. After some research, it appears your Moto G is optimized for use with Wi-Fi, and may not be the best option with our SIM card. We do offer the same device here, as well as a variety of other feature phones and smartphones. And with our 30 day Risk-Free Guarantee, you can experience our no-contract service without worry. We appreciate you taking the time to comment!

  8. Chy Dixon says

I ordered an unlocked GSM phone from Amazon. It’s brand new…as my old phone with you broke. It has not been used with any mobile carrier at all – it’s brand new. Will a SIM card work in it before I call an order one?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the question, Chy. If your old phone’s SIM card is the same size, you can try it in your new phone. You might be able to make phone calls, but we may need to adjust some settings on our end to get your texting and data functions up and running. If your old phone used a different size SIM card, we can send you a new one. You can get one from your local Target or Sears store, or you can order one online here. You can also call us to order one at 888-345-5509. Once it’s activated, just try it with your new phone. If you run into any issues, we’re here to help you. Thank you for commenting, and we hope you enjoy your new phone!

  9. Kathy says

I have an old iPhone 4S that is inactive from AT&T, and a new iPhone 6 from AT&T that is active. Could I use my 4S and your SIM card to try your service? Would you be setting up a different phone # for that? I definitely don’t want my current phone to get “confused”. If I wind up switching, when I pay off my Next plan with AT&T (ouch), do I have to have them Unlock the phone?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Kathy. These are common questions, so we appreciate you taking the time to ask them! You can use our SIM card with your iPhone 4s, as long as it is unlocked by AT&T. We would be happy to send you a SIM card with a different number so you can try our service without any confusion.

Once you’ve completed the Next plan, you would need to ask AT&T to unlock your iPhone 6, and then we would be able to port your number over to our service. You can get started with one of our SIM cards by visiting a Target or Sears store, or by calling us at 888-345-5509. You can also complete the process online here. Whichever option works best for you, this way you can experience our service Risk-Free without paying for a new device. Thank you for commenting today, and we would be pleased to have you as a customer!

  10. Anthony Babor says

I am using a Samsung phone with Metro PCS. It has been unlocked and has my current SIM in it. I would like to switch to Consumer Cellular using my current cellphone number without any beat of interrUption in service. How could you help. tnx

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We can absolutely help you with that, Anthony. It sounds like your phone would be compatible with our service. You would need to check with MetroPCS to ensure it is unlocked, as that has to be done by the previous carrier. From there, we can take care of porting the number so you can keep your phone number, and your service won’t be interrupted.

Our SIM cards are available at Target and Sears, or you can give us a call at 888-345-5509. You can also complete the process online here. Best of all, our SIM cards are absolutely free. That way you can start enjoying the benefits of our service without purchasing a new phone. Thank you for commenting today, and we look forward to talking with you soon!

  11. Trish says

I have a iPhone 5 with Verizon and would like to switch to your service. Will the iPhone 5 work with the SIM card?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Trish. We have had success with our customers using an iPhone 5 from Verizon, as long as it has a SIM card slot. Verizon uses CDMA technology, and not all of their phones come equipped with a SIM slot. If your phone does have one, and is unlocked by the carrier, it sounds like our SIM card would work well for you. If you would like to get started, you can purchase one of our SIM cards from your local Target or Sears store, and we will even credit you for the price so the SIM card is free. You can also get one here on our website, or you can give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can get that on the way to you. Thank you for commenting, and we look forward to having you on our service!

      • Nick says

I have a similar question to Trish. I have an iPhone 4s that I would like to transfer to your network. It is presently on the Verizon network. I took it to an AT&T store and they put a SIM card in and said it was compatible with their network but they didn’t try to make a call. Would this phone transfer to your network? I wanted the CC rep at the local Target to try but she said I would have to sign up for a plan but there were no guarantees.

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Nick. Without testing our SIM card with your iPhone, we can’t guarantee that our service will work. The best option is to test it with our SIM card which does require you to sign up for a plan. Luckily with our 100% Risk-Free Guarantee, you won’t need to pay anything if it doesn’t work for you. We’ll even refund you the price of the SIM card so you don’t have to pay for that either. We’re happy to answer any questions you have at 888-345-5509, and if you’re ready to get started, we can help you with that, too. We appreciate you posting today and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

  12. Dominic says

Hello. Will an unlocked Iphone from Sprint work on Consumer Cellular? I want to add a line to my account. Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for your comment, Dominic. Our SIM cards work best with unlocked, GSM phones. Most Sprint phones use the CDMA network, and are not a good fit with our service. We would be happy to try it, and best of all, we have a Risk-Free Guarantee! You can try the SIM card and our service for 30 days, 300 minutes, 300 text messages or 300MB of data, whichever comes first. If you cancel within that time period, you won’t pay a thing. Our SIM cards are available at Target or Sears stores, online here, or over the phone at 888-345-5509. We’ll even credit you $10 on your first invoice so the SIM card is free. Thank you for commenting today, and we hope you’ll give us a try!

  13. Mason says

I’m just going to drop this here. My Dad lost his phone on a Delta flight yesterday and their recovery rate is garbage. He really wants to keep his service but there is little to no info about what to do in his situation. I see here that he can easily get another SIM card and I believe his old smartphone is compatible with Consumer Cellular, even though he prefers his Doro flip phone.

Without delving into his account details, what are his options at this point?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Mason. We can immediately stop service on the lost phone so that it can’t be used to make calls or be subject to any overages, just in case. We are also happy to send a new SIM card which can be used with an unlocked, GSM phone (which it sounds like you have on hand). I’ve sent you an email so that we can handle that for your father, or he can call us at 888-345-5509 and we can take care of it from there. We’re sorry to hear about his Doro phone, but we can definitely make sure he has a working device as quickly as possible. Thank you for letting us know!

  14. Kenneth says

I am still awaiting the arrival of my sim card. Seems it has spent two and a half days at an USPS facility in Tucson, AZ. Will let you guys know how service is if and when it arrives.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Kenneth. We see that the SIM card is on the way to you now, and has left the shipping facility. Thank you for your patience, and please don’t hesitate to call us at 888-345-5509 if you need any assistance when it arrives. Have a great day!

  15. lynn presley says

i have a motorrola u s celluar will it work with your system

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Lynn. US Cellular uses CDMA technology, which is different than the type we use (GSM). In general, CDMA phones are not a good fit with our service. An unlocked, GSM phone would be the best option to use with our SIM card. We offer a variety of affordable phone options as well, from feature phones to the latest iPhones. You can see our lineup here, or visit your local Target or Sears store. And of course, we’re available to answer any questions you may have at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you reaching out to us!

  16. Richard Bickle says

I have an htc phone from Sprint cellular. It has a sprint sim card in it. does this sound a phone that would work on your system? This phone was purchased on a Sprint plan, would this be a locked phone ? If so what are the procedures to get it unlocked?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you asking, Richard. In general, unlocked, GSM phones from AT&T or T-Mobile are the best fit for our service. That being said, if your phone has a SIM card slot, we are more than happy to see if your phone would work with our service. To unlock your phone, you would need to contact Sprint and they would send you an unlock code to use. From there, you can purchase one of our SIM cards from your local Target or Sears store, then just call us to activate it. You can also order our SIM card online here if that is more convenient for you. And with our Risk-Free Guarantee, you can try our service without any worries. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us, and we hope you have a great day!

  17. Graciela Hawkins says

can you sent me a sim card I want to used my old phone ,the companie i had before was family mobile

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Graciela! We would be happy to send you a SIM card. It looks like your device would be a good fit with our service, but you will need to make sure it is unlocked by the previous carrier. To do so, just give them a call and ask them to unlock it. Once you’ve done that, you can give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can get a SIM card on the way to you! If it is more convenient, you can get one of our SIM cards from your local Target or Sears store, or you can order one on our website here. We look forward to hearing from you!

  18. Kim says

I did this with two phones and both work great. I do have a suggestion that would help others. After inserting the SIM cards into my devices, it wasn’t clear how to set up either voicemail or the cellular data settings (APN, etc.). Since my order included only SIMs, it could have had more tailored instructions to point me to the info on your web site (which was exactly what I needed). I spent some time trying to find out what I needed.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the feedback, Kim! We’re glad that you were able to get your phones up and running with our SIM cards. I’ve forwarded your suggestions to our marketing team so that we can make these directions more clear in the future. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us!

  19. Heidi says

The plan is nicely priced but the time calculations are rarely up-to-date and so its easy to go over your time allotment. There is no way that the flip phone itself will show the time used like my other flip phones did for other carriers. So when you go over, it can easily double or triple the cost! When you are on an extremely tight budget, every penny counts.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We certainly apologize for any frustration, Heidi. We never want our customers to be surprised by their usage, which is why we introduced our Usage Alerts, so that you can be notified of your usage in real time. There is a slight lag due to the way usage is reported by the towers, so if you ever have any questions, we recommend dialing 611 from your phone. That will connect you with our customer service team who can provide you with the most accurate, real-time data. I see that you were able to adjust your plan with Barbara, our customer service representative, so please let us know if there is anything else we can do. We appreciate you taking the time to post today, and we hope you have a wonderful day.

  20. John Roberts says

Will Consumer Cellular in the future offer a Microsoft Windows Phone?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, John. At this time, we don’t offer a Windows phone, but our lineup is constantly changing. We try to introduce a variety of devices to meet the needs of our customers. I’ve passed your question on to our product purchasing department, as they appreciate hearing from customers about devices they would find useful. If we add any devices to our lineup, we will be sure the alert our customers via our website and our social media channels. Thank you again for the post!

  21. John Roberts says

Will Consumer Cellular ever offer an unlimited data plan or anything higher than 4GB?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, John. We evaluate our plans constantly, and rely on feedback from our customers to help determine what options we should provide. For the last eight years, we’ve increase our plans without raising our prices. At this time, we don’t offer an unlimited plan. If that should change, we will absolutely let our customers know across all of our channels. Thank you for asking, and we hope you have a great weekend!

  22. Patty Vergara says

I have an old Ferrari Hagenuk cell phone (1997) and it doesn’t work with the new SIM cards. I need a GSM 900Mhz with 8K or 16K. The phone is located in Italy. Can you help?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Patty. Our service is only available in the United States, and is not currently available in Italy. We hope you have a great day!

  23. jane says

I am new to this. I am looking for a way to find out if u accept a Samsung cell by ATT?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Jane. In general, phones that were previously used with AT&T are a good fit with our SIM card. All you need to get started is one of our SIM cards. You can find them at your local Target or Sears stores, or you can get one on our website here, or call us at 888-345-5509. Whichever option works best for you, we have a 100% Risk-Free guarantee so you can try our service without worry. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us, and we look forward to serving you!

  24. Diane Mayer says

I have a new Galaxy s 4 and need a free sim card mailed to me.

We’re happy to help you with that, Diane! Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we get an account started for you, and get a SIM card on the way. Thanks!

  25. Athena M Tindaan says

Hi. I have a question, my son broke his iphone3 and I have old IPhone4 from ATT&T. Can I just transfer the sim card from his broken phone to Iphone4?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Athena. You can transfer the SIM card to the phone if it is the same size, and most likely, the voice settings will work. We may need to adjust some settings for full text and data capabilities. We can help you change them if needed, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. The phone I am now using is a Samsung Galaxy S4 and the carrier is AT&T. My contract is up the end of May, 2016, at which time I am considering changing to Consumer Cellular. Right now I have unlimited calling, texting, but only 1GB of data, which the data is nothing, However, I am on the next plan which the cost of the phone is added to my bill. I am thinking of 750 min talk and $40 unlimited text and 4GB data, for a total of $60. What would be the additional charges, like taxes etc. ? Without the monthly charge for the phone, phone will be paid next year 2016 at the end of May and then the AT&T bill will be lower. The only difference would be needing more data. Also, when you put in a sim card for Consumer Cellular, will you still have the same apps, does it keep your photos, keep Skype, games, contact list, FaceBook, etc?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Carol. We’re glad to hear you are considering our service! The great news is that your phone sounds like a good fit for our SIM card, and your reception and service wouldn’t change. When you use our SIM card, any contacts saved to your phone will remain there, as will any apps or music downloaded to your phone. As for additional feeds, the taxes that you pay now will likely be similar to what you would pay with Consumer Cellular, as they are determined by the government in your area. If this sounds like it would be a good option for you, all you need is one of our SIM cards. You can find them at your local Target or Sears store, or you can get one online here. We’ll give you a $10 credit on your first month’s bill, making the SIM card free! Once you have the SIM card, just call us using the phone number on the packaging and we’ll get you up and running in no time. Thank you for the post, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

  27. Bob says

I currently have a home phone with another carrier and the contract expires in July. I want to switch back to Consumer Cellular and have a Motorola WX345 that will let me make/receive phone calls; that’s all I need. I want to port my existing number to this phone when I switch carriers. What do I need to do and when do I need to do it to accomplish this??

    Thanks for the help.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re glad to hear you are coming back to Consumer Cellular, Bob. When you’re ready to port your service over in July, all you need to do is give us a call, or purchase one of our SIM cards from your local Target or Sears store. When you call us to activate service, we’ll take care of porting your number. All you’ll need is a statement from your current carrier or the account information. We’ll transfer the phone number to our service, and that will close your previous account. That’s it! Thank you for reaching out to us, and we look forward to serving you!

  28. Edwin Ponnuswamy says

I installed the new SIM card , but the Motoblur account number and password ,I don’t remember . So please help me to unlock the device and have the new SIM card in working order.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for reaching out to us, Edwin. I’ve sent you an email with steps to take moving forward, so we can get this issue resolved for you. Thanks!

  29. Ron Preston says

I plan to purchase an unlocked Lumia 640 phone (GSM) with windows phone 8.1 OS. Will this phone be suited to your network?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Ron! We’ve had customers use unlocked, GSM Windows phones successfully with our service. We can’t guarantee a non-Consumer Cellular phone will work with our service, but we’re happy to do everything we can to make it work! All you need to do is pick up one of our SIM cards from your local Target or Sears store, or get one via our website here. Just follow the instructions for activation, and we’ll work with you to get your device configured to work with our service. That’s it! We look forward to serving your wireless needs for years to come, and we hope you have a great weekend!

      • Michael says

I want to use the Lumia 640 with my Consumer Cellular account. I tried the T-mobile version, but it needs an unlock code. I have never been with T-Mobile, so I cannot get them to unlock the phone. Do you know if one from a different provider will work without an unlock code? Or do I have to spend more too get the unlocked version from Amazon, etc.?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Michael. In order for a phone to work with our SIM card, it needs to be unlocked by the previous carrier. For best results, a GSM phone is preferred. The unlock code must be provided from the previous carrier, and unfortunately, we can’t get that information. We’re happy to talk with you about your options at 888-345-5509. Just give us a call, and we’ll be ready to help. We appreciate you taking the time to post today, and we hope you have a good day!

  30. mike dickson says

I have had your service for sometime now using your sim card with my own unlocked panatech phone originally with AT&T. Every thing is great except I can’t access data. Customer service has tried to help but with no success. If talk and text work why shouldn’t data.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate you taking the time to comment, Mike. While our SIM cards work well with most GSM phones, we can’t guarantee all of the features will work well with non-Consumer Cellular devices. We’re happy to do the best we can, but we aren’t always able to support data for some devices, as it works a bit differently than the talk and text features. We’re glad to hear that our customer support team has been able to work with you, and that you are enjoying your service. Thank you for reaching out to us!

  31. (561) 628-2091 says

How do I get reimbursed for a new sim card purchase?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking! We automatically add the credit to your account when you activate your SIM card. I was able to take a look at your account, and I see that our customer representative, Joshua, was able to apply it to your account when you called the other day. If there is anything else we can assist you with, feel free to call us at 888-345-5509. Thank you again for taking the time to reach out to us today!

  32. Ellen says

I have an unlocked Huawei SnapTo 4G LTE 8GB phone. Do you know if this will work with one of your SIM cards?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Ellen. It appears that device should work with one of our SIM cards. While we can’t guarantee that all features will work, we’re happy to do our best! All you need to do is pick up one of our SIM cards from your local Target or Sears store, or you can find one on our website here. We’re looking forward to serving you for years to come!

  33. jim says

I put my SIM card in and did what the lady said but it says invalid SIM and she say vm takes it time and could be 24 hrs
So I will have to wait right

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s correct, Jim. When you port a number to our service from another carrier, it can take up to 24 hours to complete. We’ll notify you via text message when the port is complete. If you don’t get that text message after 24 hours, please give us a call at 888-345-5509. I see that Ashley was able to help you yesterday, and we’re more than happy to assist you further until your phone is up and running. We appreciate that you’ve reached out to us, and we look forward to serving you!

  34. Terri says

I have a Blackberry Curve used with Verizon previously. Will this phone work with my Consumer Cellular phone? The SIM card says: C-S2 with a lock after the number. Is there a way to ‘unlock’ the sim card so I can use it?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a good question, Terri. In general, unlocked GSM phones work best with our service. Verizon uses a CDMA signal, but if your device has a SIM card, we’re certainly willing to give that phone a try. You’ll need to contact the original carrier to provide the unlock code, then insert the Consumer Cellular SIM card. We are happy to do everything we can to get that device to work well with our service, but we can’t guarantee that all features will work. You can find one of our SIM cards at Target or Sears, or you can give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll be happy to send one out to you. Best of all, with our risk-free guarantee, you can try it without worry! Thank you for reaching out to us today, we appreciate it!

      • Terri says

Hi Ashley, I bought an unlocked Apple iPhone 3GS – 8GB – (AT&T) and I now need the free sim card so I can use this new phone. After I receive the sim card and make sure it works in my phone, I will update my plan to include data & texting. Currently, I have neither. Please advise how I can get the sim card. Thank you!

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

No problem, Terri! The quickest way to get a new SIM card is to visit our display at your local Target or Sears store. Once you have the SIM card and activate it, we’ll give you a $10 credit on your invoice, making the SIM card free. You can also order one from our website here, or give us a call at 888-345-5509. Whichever option works best for you, we’ll have your new iPhone working in no time! Thank you for reaching out to us, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

  35. Paula says

I have a Samsung Galaxy 4 phone, out of contract, which Verizon says they have unlocked. I just received my SIM card from you. Before I go down 9 miles of bad road trying to make the card work, please answer this: Has anyone EVER successfully gone from Verizon’s CDMA to your GSM using your SIM card? And if so, how?

I, like so many of your customers, am not in any way well versed in cell phone technology, and I don’t want to go through hours of YouTube videos & frustration just to be told “we can sell you a phone that will work”.

I was told by everyone I spoke to @ Consumer Cellular that I would have no problem, but after reading your responses on this page I have yet to see any success stories…can this be done?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Paula. In general, GSM phones work best, though some Verizon phones that have a SIM card slot can be made to work on our service. You will likely have no issue with your phone, and we’ll do everything we can to make it work for you. When you call to activate your SIM card, we’ll go through the setup step-by-step with you so that you won’t need to spend time searching for answers online. We have had customers use a device previously used with a CDMA carrier successfully, it just depends on the type of phone. If you have any questions about the process, feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’ll be happy to answer them for you! We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us today, and we look forward to serving you for years to come!

    • Dave says

Paula…I’m in same boat, same phone same carrier. Did it work?

  36. Paula says

Trina, a service rep @ Consumer Cellular, just called me and walked me through the whole process, now I am able to talk & text (we’ll handle data later). I am so grateful to her, what a splendid experience. I hope her supervisor sees this, she is a jewel.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so glad to hear it, Paula! I’ve forwarded your comments on to her supervisor, so thank you for letting us know!

      • Butch says

        Ashley,
I sent a reply to Paula earlier, which said it was waiting for moderation. Now it has completely disappeared from the blog I was asking for an update on whether her S4 was streaming data properly. Do you have any updates on that?

        • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for the question, Butch! While we can’t comment on the specifics of Paula’s account, we can tell you that we’ve had many customers use CDMA devices from Verizon on our service (however the device does have to have a slot for a SIM card). Minutes, messages and data have all worked for these customers. If you’re in need of assistance, please please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5508 and we’ll be more than happy to help. Thanks!

    • Butch says

Same situation with my Verizon Galaxy S4 (my present contract with Verizon expires in 2 months). Does the talk and text still work well, and do you now have an update on how the data works on your phone.

  37. robert wood says

I am interested In the wireless home station, I don’t see it listed.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Robert. At this time, we are temporarily out of stock of the Wireless Home Phone base. We are actively working to get more, but we can’t provide an exact date at this time when more will be available. We appreciate your patience, and we’re happy to answer any questions you may have at 888-345-5509. Thank you again for taking the time to comment today!

  38. Doug says

I am trying activate my phone. When I call it ask for my account number I enter the number, then tells me its not valid. I have a NOkIA windows phone.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Doug. I see that you were able to speak with Jennifer, our customer service team member, and that your service is active with your new SIM card. We’re glad to see that the transition went smoothly, but if there is anything else we can assist you with at this time, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you again for taking the time to reach out!

    • Dennis says

I would like to know how they solved your issue. I called and waited for over 17 minutes, but hung up. I’m having the same issue with mine.

      • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for the comment, Dennis. In order to complete the transfer from your previous provider, we’ll need the account number you had with that provider. They aren’t able to release your phone number to us and complete the transfer unless we provide them with your account number. Please feel free to either call us with that information or email us at [email protected]. If you’d like to call us, here’s a phone number that will get you directly to the department that handles porting and number transfers: 888-750-5519. Thank you.

        • Dennis says

I sent you an email. Please send instructions via email on how to remedy this issue. Thanks, Dominic

  39. Cheryl says

I purchased an I Phone 4 with services through Sprint. Will this phone work with Consumer Cellular services? I would like to know before cancelling current service. Thanks

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Cheryl. In general, phones used previously with Sprint don’t always work well with our service, as they use a different type of network. However, some smartphones from other carriers may have a SIM card slot. If so, we are happy to see if your phone will work with us. If you’d like to try, just pick up one of our SIM cards from Target or Sears, or you can order one on our site here. We’ll give you a $10 credit, so your SIM card is free. That way, you can try our service to see if it will work well with your device. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have at 888-345-5509, and we can even get a SIM card on the way to you! Thank you again for taking the time to post, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

I have an Apple Iphone 5 that used Verizon. The Verizon customer serice said that the phone was unlocked. Will the Target store do the necessary to put a new SIM if needed and connect the phone to your service? I also need to transfer contacts from an Android to this IPhone5 (a gift from my son) can the store do that even if I have to pay $10? Thanks.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Serge. Our retail locations can assist you in purchasing a phone, but for technical support (such as transferring your contacts), it’s best if you give us a call at 888-345-5509. We will be happy to help you with the setup of your new phone and activating your SIM card. We’ll walk you through the process, and soon you’ll be enjoying your new iPhone! Thank you again for taking the time to comment, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

  41. Beverly Guyan says

My previous phone before going to Consumer Cellular was a LG800G. My provider at that time was Tracfone. My husband would be interested in using that phone now and wondered if your SIM card would be usable in this phone.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Beverly! As long as the phone has been unlocked by the previous carrier and it is the GSM version, it sounds like our SIM card may be a good fit. We can’t guarantee that our SIM card will work, or that all of the features will be available, but we’re happy to give it a try! All you need to get started is one of our SIM cards. You can get one at your local Target or Sears stores, on our website here, or you can order one over the phone at 888-345-5509. Best of all, we’ll give you a $10 credit on your first month’s invoice so the SIM card is free! Once you have the SIM card, just call the activation number and we’ll walk you through the rest. Thank you for taking the time to comment, and we look forward to serving you!

We were given an iPhone 5S that has been unlocked from ATT, has a clean ESN and uses a NANO Sim card. It will replace our phone 2 iPhone 3 that has a MICRO Sim, with no score line for NANO. I will order your new free SIM card today. What is the procedure to transfer the current phone 2 number to the newer iPhone 5S?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, George. We’ll assist you with the number transfer when you call to activate your new SIM cards. It’s that easy! Just call the number provided on the packaging, and we’ll take care of the rest. Thanks for the comment!

  43. Mike L says

Seen lots of talk about “trying” various phones from other carriers on Consumer Cellular. The usual response is “we can try with a free SIM Card”. Curious why you haven’t posted any listing of phones that have been found to work by Carrier?

Also, if I have a friend that already has Consumer Cellular, would it be a valid “test” to try putting their SIM card into my phone if I knew it was “unlocked”? Is there any risk in trying this? I would presume if they bought a new Consumer Cellular phone they can transfer service easily this way.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a good question, Mike. Many carriers have the ability to customize the phones they offer, so even the same phone model may be slightly different. That’s why we work with customers to find the right settings for their individual phones. In general, unlocked, GSM phones used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile work best with our service. That being said, using a friend’s SIM card may allow you to test your phone, but it may not be the right size, and settings may need to be adjusted on your phone to work. For best results, we recommend testing with one of our SIM cards. It’s risk-free, and we offer a $10 credit so the card is at no cost to you. We would be happy to get one on the way to you, or to answer any questions you may have. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll be happy to assist you. Thank you for taking the time to comment today!

      • Mike L says

Thanks for the reply Ashley. I called Verizon and they said my phone was “unlocked” and that all their phones these days are now to allow international travel. However when we tried putting in a Consumer Cellular SIM card with two different phones they both said something to the effect of “Non Verizon SIM card detected”. Never asked for any unlock code or anything. I’m not convinced the phone is unlocked or else this simply will not work??? Is there something else for me to try with the SIM card testing?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for reaching out today, Mike. If the phone you are using is configured for the CDMA network, it most likely won’t work well with our service. We operate using the GSM network. You may talk to again to ensure the phone is indeed unlocked (not just unlocked for international use), then try the SIM card again. If you run into any issues, we’re happy to help you at 888-345-5509. Thank you for posting!

  44. Charles Marshall says

I need the puk2 and the pin2 codes for my Sim card. I’ve called a couple times already.

  45. Richard Sears says

Me and my wife are thinking of going with consumer cellular. I only use a flip phone and the reviews on your flip phones are not good. Will my version Samsung sch-4320 haven phone accept your sim card?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re glad to hear that you’re considering our service, Richard! I was able to research your phone a bit, and it appears to be a CDMA device used previously with Verizon. In general, CDMA devices are not a good fit with our SIM card as we use the GSM network. Our Doro PhoneEasy 626 is well regarded by many of our customers, and with our 30 day Risk-Free Guarantee, you can try it out to see if it is a good fit. You can take a look at it here. We’re happy to answer any other questions you may have over the phone at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

I followed all the steps. Is there anything I can do? I really do not want to purchase a new phone.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, DD. We’re happy to take a look at your account, and troubleshoot the issue further. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509 from a different phone, and have your cellphone in hand. That way we can work with you over the phone and see if we can get this resolved. Thank you for asking, Deloris. Straight Talk offers a variety of devices, and as long as your phone is an unlocked, GSM phone, we’re happy to try it with our SIM card. We can’t guarantee that it will work, but with our free SIM card, you can test it risk-free. You can find our SIM cards at your local Target or Sears store, here on our website, or you can call us at 888-345-5509 to order over the phone. Whichever option works best for you! We’re glad to hear that you are considering our service, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

Thank you for asking, Carl. I was able to take a look at your account, and I see that you were able to activate your new phone earlier today. Please turn the phone off, then check to make sure the SIM card is fully inserted into the phone by taking off the back cover. Then, turn the phone back on. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, please give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’ll be happy to troubleshoot it further and get your new phone up and running. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we hope you have a great day!

We’ll help you resolve this. We appreciate you taking the time to comment, and we look forward to speaking with you!

  52. Nate says

What about an Iphone 4s which doesn’t have a chip, are there still options aside from buying another phone?

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Nate. If the iPhone you have is unlocked and is capable of accepting a SIM card, it should work with our cellphone service. We can send you a SIM card free of charge if you’re interested in testing this out. If you have any questions about pursuing this option further, please feel free to give us a ring at 888-345-5508 and we’ll be more than happy to get you set up. Thanks!

  53. Bill says

Your answer to Trish (May 3, 2015 8:46 AM) regarding using an iPhone5 from Verizon with your SIM card partially answers a question I have. My Verizon iPhone5 is the dual CDMA/GSM model (A1429) with a SIM slot, so I expect that standard phone services should work just fine. Although you say in your answer to Trish that “we have had success”, my question is about LTE service with this combination. Will LTE work? The phone specs state that LTE (Bands 1, 3, 5, 13, 25) are supported but I don’t know what Consumer Cellular uses or if there are other configuration issues. If I take the phone to a store can they check this for me and/or does the free SIM card allow me to check this specific feature BEFORE signing up for Consumer Cellular service? The responses I see on this page seem to imply that issues can only be resolved AFTER signing up which would require terminating Verizon and then HOPING that the iPhone5/SIM combination works.

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Bill! Yes, we do offer service to LTE devices.

One alternative that you may find acceptable, is getting a new (and FREE) SIM card with a new phone number. We have a risk-free trial period of 30 days, so you can test this out without porting your number over from your current provider. Plus, you can cancel this number at not cost to you within the 30 day period. We’ll need to help you adjust a few settings to insure everything works via LTE. If you’re interested in learning more about this option, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5508 or at [email protected] and we’ll be more than happy to help!

      • Bill says

If the phone and 4G LTE work with the new number (which I don’t want), then do I have to cancel and start over to get my old number ported over to this phone or can the port happen without first cancelling? Is there a charge for the change of number (new number to old number from Verizon)?

        • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Bill! The good news for you in this scenario is if you cancel that temporary number within the 30 day risk free trial period, you won’t have to pay a dime! At that point, you can start over, this time with the knowledge that everything is going to work to your liking, and have your number ported over from Verizon. There is no additional charge for porting your number over. Please note, we’ll need to assist you with changing a few settings to make sure everything is in order once you receive the SIM card. If you have any additional questions about this process, please feel free to give us at ring at 888-345-5509. Thank you.

I have and unlocked Verizon iPhone 4s. It does have the SIM slot and it’s my understanding that it can now be used on other networks in the US. I used to love Consumer Cellular and wouldn’t mind coming back; have you had success with this version of the iPhone? Is there a way to test out the SIM card WITHOUT canceling our other service first?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We would love to have you back, Stu. The best way to know if your phone will work well with our service is to test it using one of our SIM cards. We can activate your account with a new phone number, and if the SIM card works well for you, we can always transfer your current phone number to your account later. Best of all, you can find our SIM cards at your local Target or Sears store and we’ll give you a $10 credit on your first invoice. So the SIM card is free of charge! If you like, we can even get one on the way to you. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll be happy to help you. Thank you for reaching out to us, and we hope you have a great day!

Since I retired I have had a very cheap Verizon phone but it is time to move on. My wife has an Apple and a T-Mobile phone she no longer uses. Can I use either phone?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Jim. In general, an unlocked, GSM phone will work best with our SIM card, which includes phones previously used with AT&T or T-Mobile. You can check with your previous provider to ensure the phones are unlocked, then you can give our service a try with one of our SIM cards. You can find them at your local Target or Sears store, here on our website or we can get one to you over the phone at 888-345-5509. We’re also happy to answer any questions you may have about our service. We appreciate you taking the time to comment today, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

      • jim calvert says

How do I know if it is locked?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Jim. The best way to find out if the phone is unlocked is to try our SIM card in it. If you receive an error message, the phone is most likely locked to the previous carrier. If that is the case, you’ll need to contact them and request the unlock information. Thank you for the question!

  57. Julio says

Hello, I want to save money and switch over from AT&T but I still have a few months left on my phone contract with them. If I pay their ETFs to get out of the contract can I just switch my phone over to your service or do I have to ask AT&T to unlock it? I have a 1st Gen Moto X.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so glad to hear that you’re interested in our service, Julio. You will need to have AT&T unlock your Moto X before you can use it on our service. Once you’ve been able to do that, our SIM card should work quite well with your phone. If we can answer any questions for you about our service or plans, feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for reaching out to us today!

  58. Ivori m. says

I was wondering if I buy an iPhone 6 from Apple would I be able to connect it to consumer cellular or would I have to but the phone through consumer cellular

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Ivori! As long as you purchase the unlocked GSM version of the iPhone from the Apple Store, you can use it with our SIM card. If it is more convenient for you, you can purchase the iPhone from us. Either way, we’re happy to assist you. We can answer any questions you may have or get a SIM card on the way to you. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for taking the time to comment, and we hope you have fun choosing a new iPhone!

  59. J Smith says

Will an unlocked Verizon iPhone 5s work with your service.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, J. In general, unlocked GSM phones that were used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile work best with our service, but if your iPhone 5s has a SIM card slot, we are happy to do our best. The best way to find out is to test your phone with one of our SIM cards. You can find them at your local Target or Sears store, on our website here, or we can send you one if you give us a call at 888-345-5509. Best of all, we’ll give you a $10 credit so the SIM card is free. We look forward to working with you, and we appreciate you reaching out to us!

  60. Justin says

I have an HTC One remix from verizon with a SIM card slot. Would it work with your sim cards?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Justin. In general, our SIM cards work best with unlocked GSM phones, such as those used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile. We can’t guarantee that our SIM card will work with your phone, but we’re happy to try! The best way to test it is with one of our SIM cards. You can pick one up from your local Target or Sears store, order one through our website here, or we’re happy to send one to you if you give us a call at 888-345-5509. Best of all, we’ll give you a credit so that the SIM card is free! Thank you for asking, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

  61. Jonathan says

Hello. I have an unlocked Verizon Iphone 6 with GSM capability (in addition to Verizon’s CDMA). I have scrolled through the comments and see that it often is something that just has to be tried. However, I’m wondering if you’ve had any confirmed attempt to use a CC SIM card in an unlocked Verizon Iphone 6 with GSM capability? Thanks.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Jonathan. As long as your version is GSM compatible, it will most likely work. We have had success with customers using an iPhone that was previously with Verizon as long as it meets that criteria. You can find our SIM cards online here, at Target or Sears stores, or you can order one from us over the phone. If we can answer any questions you might have about our SIM cards or services, we’re happy to help you at 888-345-5509. Thank you for taking the time to post today, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

      • Bill says

What is the criteria. And don’t say about trying the Sim card cause I have one already but I don’t want to buy a Verizon iPhone 5s off my friend if it won’t work. So yes or no will it work?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Bill. In general, phones used previously with Verizon are not the best option as they use CDMA technology and we use GSM. Unlocked GSM phones work best, such as phones used previously with T-Mobile or AT&T. You’ll also want to make sure the phone is unlocked by the previous carrier as unfortunately we don’t have the ability to do that. We can answer any other questions you may have about using our SIM cards if you give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’ll be happy to help you! We appreciate you taking the time to comment today, and we hope you have a great day!

  62. Skyler says

Are the phones you sell on your website factory unlocked?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Skyler! Our phones do not come factory unlocked, but we are happy to unlock any of our phones that have been paid for and are not currently on an EasyPay payment plan. Please call us at 888-345-5509 for more details on the process. Thank you for the post!

  63. John says

I an interested in trying Consumer Cellular without porting my numbers right away. Is it possible to setup service with system generated new phone numbers, then port my existing numbers over later (say a month after starting service)?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, John. You can absolutely try our service with a new number then port your current phone number when you’re ready. And with our Risk-Free Guarantee, you’ll have 30 days, 300 minutes, 300 text messages or 300MB of data to test our service, whichever comes first. We’re ready to help you get started at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us and we hope you have a great day!

  64. Quita says

I have question if I have a Samsung Galaxy s4 tracfone I wanna know can I put a t mobile Sim card in it?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Quita. First, you’ll want to make sure your phone is unlocked by your previous carrier. Then, we’re happy to try our SIM card with your phone. You can find our SIM cards at your local Target or Sears store, or here on our website. We can also help you over the phone at 888-345-5509 if that is more convenient for you. Thank you for reaching out to us today!

  65. Autumn Beadle says

Can I get a SIM card for my Verizon iPhone free at the! Consumer cellular store or does it have to be mailed?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Autumn! You can get our SIM card at your local Target or Sears store and we’ll give you a $10 credit on your first month’s bill. That way it is free to you! You can also order one on our website here, or we can assist you at 888-345-5509. We can’t guarantee our SIM card will work with your phone, but we’re happy to do everything we can to make it work. We appreciate you commenting and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

  66. David Jay says

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2, older model, was used an AT&T account. Would this work with a Consumer Cellular sim card

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, David. In general, phones used previously with AT&T are a good fit for our SIM card as long as the phone is unlocked. You’ll want to check with your previous carrier to make sure that step was completed. Then all you need is one of our SIM card (which you can find here or at your local Target or Sears store) and you’ll be enjoying our service in no time! If you have any questions, we’re happy to answer them at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to comment today!

  67. Tyler voelsch says

I need a SIM card to transfer over how do I get

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Tyler! You can find our SIM card here on our website, or at your local Target or Sears store. We can also get one on the way to you if you give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we’ll take care of the rest. Thank you for reaching out to us, and we look forward to seeing you as a customer soon!

  68. Nadene F says

I want a Nokia lumia 1020 as its currently the only phone with a 40 mp camera, will CC support this phone?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Nadene. We do have some customers using Nolia Lumia phones with one of our SIM cards. After activating the SIM card, we may need to help you input some settings to make features work, and we can’t guarantee all features will work with our service. When you’re ready, just give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we’ll be happy to assist you. We appreciate you taking the time to post today!

  69. Blaire says

I activated my galaxy s5 the other day. However the Internet will not work on it unless it’s connected to WiFi, though I’m paying for data, and multimedia messages will not send or download. I called and asked and they said it could take up to 24 hours and to try to shut my phone off for a few minutes. Neither thing worked.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Blaire. We may need to adjust your APN settings. Can you give us a call at 888-345-5509? We’ll give you settings to put in your phone to allow you access to data. Just be sure to call us from another phone so we can walk you through it. We look forward to assisting you, and we hope you have a great day!

  70. Jennifer says

Nadene I see that you asked Ashley about a Nokia Lumia phone. I love my Nokia 640 LTE. However, have had nothing but trouble with the tech staff at Consumer Cellular. We spent many hours with different people today to try to get my phone to send photos. I finally found the information out online on a forum with a number of people who are having the same difficulty with Consumer Cellular. I can now send photos but can’t send videos. If that isn’t a problem for you and you want a phone service that allows you to use the Nokia as a phone go with them. But if you want to send videos to loved ones, I would go with another cellular company. Fed up with Consumer Cellular!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Jennifer. In most cases, our SIM cards work well with unlocked, GSM phones, but some do require additional efforts on our part. We are sure to tell customers using our SIM card with a device that did not come from Consumer Cellular that we can’t guarantee that every feature will work. With Windows phones, we do have to provide some additional APN information that must be entered into the phone. We’re sorry to hear that you experienced messaging issues with our service, and if you give us a call at 888-345-5509, we’re happy to discuss them with you. Thank you again for posting, and we look forward to talking with you!

      • Paul says

I have a new Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE, never activated, still in the box, but it’s configured as a no-contract, prepaid AT&T GoPhone. I’d like to add it to my current CC plan, but I’ve found conflicting reports online. Some people report success simply by inserting and activating a CC SIM card in the new phone, but others say it’s necessary to have it unlocked via AT&T prior to activation with you. Can any of your experienced tech reps provide definitive advice?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Paul. It’s always best to have the phone unlocked prior it using our SIM card with it. That will make it easier for your phone to receive any updates and settings we can provide. While we can’t guarantee that your phone will work with our service without trying it first, it does sound like it may be a good fit. Once you’re able to get the phone unlocked, you’ll be able to try it with our SIM card. If you run into any issues, we’ll be happy to troubleshoot them for you at 888-345-5509. If you’re ready to give it a try, we can get a SIM card on the way to you. Thank you for commenting, and we look forward to talking with you!

  71. Jennifer says

This is the second phone this has happened with. My first phone my son in law fixed. After spending many exhaustive hours on the phone with Cellular One I gave up. He looked online and fixed it in a few minutes. The tech there is not too good at helping out and usually messes my phone up worse with the settings they give me. I am currently looking for a new cellular company!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Jennifer. I was able to respond to your other comment, and we’re sorry to hear that you might be leaving our service. We’re happy to discuss any issues you’ve experienced at 888-345-5509 and do our best to resolve them. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us!

  72. Steven says

Can I buy a new MetroPCS -HTC Desire 626s (GSM type) phone and use is with existing consumer cellular SIM card from a Huawei phone?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Steven! In general, you can use most unlocked, GSM phones with our SIM cards. Please be mindful that we can’t unlock phones from another carrier, so you’ll want to check to be sure the previous carrier has done so. You’re welcome to try the SIM card from your previous phone. If you run into any issues, we may need to send some updates so that all features work with your new device. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509 if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate you taking the time to comment!

      • Mark Schulman says

I have a new iPhone 6s which was activated on Verizon. Will it work with the Consumer Cellular SIM Card?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for asking, Mark! In general, phones used previously with Verizon may not work with our service, but we have had some luck with the newer iPhones. First, you’ll need to make sure the iPhone is unlocked by your previous carrier. Next, you’ll need one of our SIM cards. You can find them here on our website, at your local Target or Sears store or we can help you order one at 888-345-5509. Then just give us a call, and we’ll walk you through the process. We can’t guarantee that our SIM card will work with you phone, but we can certainly do our best to make it a success! We appreciate you commenting today, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

  73. Kyree says

    I hope it’s good.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sure you’ll enjoy it, Kyree. And if it’s not a good fit for you, our Risk-Free Guarantee allows you to try our service without worry. If we can answer any questions for you, just let us know at 888-345-5509. Thank you for posting and have a wonderful day!

  74. Rudy says

I have a brand new iphone 5 got from Apple store , not sure if unlock or lock, that is my spare phone only.
Can i use your service to make a call overseas or texting?
Example if i paid a month service and after 30 days will be expired ? Even i still have left over minutes. Thank you .

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hello Rudy! Thanks for the question. Customers on our service are free to use their phones to make calls to other countries. If you’re interested, here’s a link to information about our international rates: https://www.consumercellular.com/Support/InternationalRates. However, our service only works within the United States, which means that if a customer takes their phone outside the U.S., our service won’t work. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us at 888-345-5509. Thank you.

  75. Pete says

I’m waiting for my new iphone to be delivered from CC with a nano SIM card. How can I transfer my contacts numbers from my Doro phone?

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Pete. Thanks for the question. One of the easiest ways to move your contacts from your Doro Phone to your iPhone is via the SIM card in your Doro phone. First, you’ll need to make sure your contacts are saved to that SIM card, then move the SIM card from your Doro phone to your new iPhone, temporarily. Once the Doro SIM is in the iPhone, you can copy the contacts from your SIM card to the iPhone. After you’ve done that, you can remove the SIM card that was originally in the Doro phone, and replace it with the new SIM card that came with your new iPhone. If you need any assistance with this process, please feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509.

  76. Dale Hellman says

After reading all the question and answers, I believe that a consumer cellular sim card will not work in a Wal Mart straight talk CDMA phone, I believe that straight talk will not unlock the phone for use of a sim card from consumer cellular. I also think that you know this to be a fact but you will not say so and quit wasting our time. Just say that you can’t do it and let use either buy a consumer cell phone or not. Waste of time sending a useless sim card when you know it will not work. Sorry that is the way I feel, about all this… Surly you know by now if your sim card will work in straight talk CDMA phones or not.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Dale, and we do understand the confusion. Some phones used previously with a CDMA network do work with our service, as long as they have a SIM card slot. A great example are the more recent iPhones. Most carriers will unlock phones, but we don’t have any control over the policies of other carriers. That’s why we recommend trying our SIM card with your phone before purchasing a new one. Our SIM cards are free of charge with our $10 credit, so we always recommend that option first as to save our customers money. We can only guarantee that our own phones will work on our service. If you have a question about a specific model of phone, we’re happy to make a recommendation, but in general, GSM phones that have been unlocked work best. Please feel free to call us at 888-345-5509 if we can answer any other questions about our SIM cards or about our service. Thank you for your feedback, and we truly appreciate you taking the time to post.

  77. Eusebia Tanner says

Have an iPhone 5 from sprint. They gave me a MSL number they said to give to you and you would know what to do with it. Can you help with this.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Absolutely, Eusebia! If you’re looking to try your iPhone 5 with our SIM card, we may need that information. If you give us a call at 888-345-5509, we can talk with you about any other information we may need and walk you through activating your SIM card. Thank you for posting, and we look forward to speaking with you!

      • Phil says

I have a Galaxy S4 from US Cellular, would a SIM card from Consumer Cellular work on my phone?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Phil. In general, phones used previously with US Cellular are not always a good fit as they use the CDMA network, while we use GSM. That’s why our SIM cards work best with unlocked GSM phones. Some newer model smartphones may be able to use our SIM cards, but we would need to try it to find out. If you like, you can try our SIM card first before purchasing a phone. We’ll give you a $10 credit, so the SIM card is free of charge to you. You can find our SIM cards here on our site or also at your local Target or Sears store. We can also answer any questions you may have at 888-345-5509 if you like. Thank you for taking the time to post today!

  78. Dana says

Will a Samsung Note 4 from Sprint work with a Consumer Cellular sim card?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Dana. In general, our SIM cards work best with unlocked GSM phones, like those used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile. However, some newer smartphones that have a SIM card slot can be used with our service. If you can, remove the backing on your phone and check to see if there is a SIM card there. If so, we’re happy to try ours to see if our service will be a good fit. You can find our SIM cards at your local Target or Sears store, here on our website and over the phone at 888-345-5509. We can’t guarantee that our SIM card will work with your phone, but we will certainly do our best to make it work! Thank you for taking the time to post today, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

  79. Valery says

I an already a Consumer Cellular customer and I have a T-Moblie phone with one of your sim cards in it. Can I Just transfer than same sims card to my new unlocked phone?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Valery. As long as the SIM card is the right size for your new phone, you should be able to do that. We may need to send some updates to your new phone in order for all features to work correctly, so if you run into any issues, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we hope you enjoy your new phone!

  80. Vic says

Hi.. how do I exchange my old regular sim card to micro sim card? Do Consumer Cellular have exchange sim service or I do have to cut the sim card myself? My old phone has regular big sim card and my new phone takes only micro sim.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We can help you with that, Vic. Please don’t cut your SIM card yourself as that could damage it. We’re happy to send you a new option that will fit with your phone. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can get that taken care of for you. Thank you for asking, and we appreciate you taking the time to post!

  81. Matthew says

I have been on hold for the past 40 minutes – this is really unacceptable customer service. I bought a new phone and want to switch my existing service & number over to this phone.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We apologize for the long hold time, Matthew. Thank you for being patient, and we look forward to helping you get your new phone setup and ready to go. If we can answer any questions for you, we’re always happy to help you here on the blog, or over the phone at 888-345-5509. Thank you for posting, and we’re happy to welcome you to Consumer Cellular!

  82. ceecee says

I have a LG Optimus Exceed 2 phone. Will Consumer Cellular work with that?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, CeeCee. In general, our SIM cards work best with unlocked GSM phones, such as those used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile. The best way to know if your phone will work with our service is to try our SIM card. With our 100% Risk-Free Guarantee, you can try our service to see if it will be a good fit for you and your device. Our SIM cards can be found at your local Target or Sears store, here on our site or we can send you one if you call us at 888-345-5509. Thank you for taking the time to post, and we look forward to speaking with you!

  83. Leo says

Can I use an unlocked Lumina 640 with my current Consumer Cellular sim card? I do not want to use data, just the simple phone features I have with my flip phone. All my data access is via WiFi.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Leo. For the best results, you’ll want to make sure it is an unlocked GSM version. If you aren’t planning on using any data, you may be able to simply switch SIM cards. If you want to send any text messages, we may need to adjust some settings on the actual phone. While we can’t guarantee that a phone purchased elsewhere will work with our service, many of our customers have had great luck using our SIM cards. If you have any questions about using our SIM card, please feel free to call us at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post today!

  84. Renea says

I am thinking of buying a Samsung Galaxy Avant as a new phone and i was wondering if it is compatible. It says something about it being “powered by t-mobile” so i can assume the SIM card will work with it right? I dont want to have to buy this phone only for it to not work.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Renea. In general, phones that are designed to work with either T-Mobile or AT&T will work well with our SIM cards, but we can’t guarantee a device that we don’t offer will work with our service. Many of our customers use phones with our SIM cards without an issue, so just be sure that any phone you purchase is unlocked. Only the phone’s original carrier can unlock a device, so unfortunately, we wouldn’t be able to help you with that. We’re happy to answer any other questions you may have if you give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for posting, and we look forward to helping you setup your new phone!

  85. Larry Consylman says

I am thinking of purchasing a Samsung Galaxy core prime smart phone and am wondering if it would work with your service.
    Samson

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for reaching out to us, Larry. In general, an unlocked GMS device will work well with our SIM card. We can’t guarantee that your device will work with our SIM card without giving it a try first, but many of our customers use a variety of smartphones successfully with our service. If you would like to try our SIM card, you can pick one up from your local Target or Sears store, or you can order it here on our website. We can even help you over the phone at 888-345-5509 if you like. We appreciate you taking the time to post today!

  86. yael weiss says

Is this phone supported by consumer cellular? Motorola Moto G XT1045 – 8GB – Black AT&T

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Yael! In most cases, unlocked devices used previously with AT&T work well with our SIM card. You can try it with one of our SIM cards to see if it will work for sure, and with our Risk-Free guarantee, you have nothing to lose. Our SIM cards can be found here on our site, at your local Target or Sears store. We can also help you over the phone at 888-345-5509 if that is more convenient. We’re sure you’ll find our SIM card to be a great fit, and we appreciate you taking the time to comment!

  87. John Jewell says

Hi I have an AT&T GoPhone with full GSM capabilities, will this phone work with your service

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, John. In general, phones with full GSM capabilities are a good fit for our SIM cards, as long as they have been unlocked by the previous carrier. While we can’t guarantee it will work without trying it, phones used previously with AT&T generally work with our service. The best way to know for sure is to try one of our SIM cards. We’re happy to help get one on the way to you if you give us a call at 888-345-5509. You can also find them here on our site, or at your local Target or Sears store. We appreciate you taking the time to ask about our service, and we’re sure we would be a good fit for your needs. We hope you have a great day!

I had my number transferred, received an email confirmation and my account is set up, but my phone still displays “invalid sim”…my phone is a LGLS665…will the sim card work with this model? I’d appreciate help as soon as possible.
    Thanks, Mike

  89. Mr. Nelson says

I just changed to a 626 from 618 that stopped working. How can I put old numbers into my 626? Where are the numbers, on the sim card or in the phone? I keep it charged up and us it like a phone book and camera for now. The old camera seem better to me.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Mr. Nelson. You can export your contacts from your Doro 618 to your SIM card, and then easily transfer them to your new phone. In fact, we even have a helpful video showing you how to do that here. We can also help walk you through it if you like at 888-345-5509. That way, you can have all of your contacts in one convenient place. We appreciate you taking the time to post your question, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

      • James says

If I have an iPhone can I bring it to consumer cellular??

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, James. In most cases, unlocked iPhones work well with our SIM card, especially those used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile. You will also want to double check that it has been unlocked by your previous carrier, as unfortunately we can’t do that for you. We’re happy to answer any other questions you may have about using one of our SIM cards at 888-345-5509, or you can find more information on our website here. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

  90. Jan says

I have ready through the first 10-15 questions and I am surprised that with all the smartphones no one has asked if the iPhone 5 pr 6 will work with consumer cellular?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Jan. The iPhone is a great fit with Consumer Cellular! If you already have one, you can use our SIM card. We also sell them brand new as well, just in case you want a different model. You can even find them at your local Target store. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the iPhone or our SIM card at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

  92. Mary Schupbach says

I am wondering if it’s possible to get an old Sim card anywhere still… I have an old school phone that I don’t want to use for anything other than to see what’s in the camera roll! It’s not a smart phone, it’s an old Motorola slide-open phone and it won’t let me do anything (even view the camera roll) without a Sim card in it. Is there any place to get Sim cards for older model phones like this? Its probably a 10 year old phone.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Mary! When you receive our All-In-One SIM card, it allows you to use our SIM card with all types of cellphones, and accommodates three different sizes. You can get our SIM card at your local Target store, here on our website or over the phone at 888-345-5509. This sounds like it could be a great fit with your old phone, but it will only work with an unlocked, GSM phone. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have about using our service, so give us a call at your convenience. We appreciate you reaching out to us today!

  93. Christy Grove says

    Thank you for your help!

  94. Andrea Dees says

I live in wyoming with only Verizon and Union Cellular towers, will I be able to get service if I order phones? Thank you!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Andrea! We do offer nationwide coverage with two of the strongest networks. You can view the coverage in your area here, or we can take a look at your address and areas you frequent over the phone at 888-345-5509. That way, you’ll know what kind of signal strength you can expect with our service. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us!

  95. Norman Rhyne says

Hi I was wondering if a Samsung Galaxy S6 and it’s on the service AT&T will work for consumer Cellular?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Norman! In general, unlocked phones used previously with AT&T are a good fit with our SIM card. You will want to have the previous carrier confirm that it is unlocked, as unfortunately we can’t do that for you. To try our service, all you will need is one of our SIM cards. You can find them at a local Target store, here on our site or we can send you one if you call us at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post here on the blog!

  96. Lm says

Why don’t reps answer these questions fairly? Every time someone asks specifically about whether their specific phone unlocked with another carrier is compatible to use with Consumer Cellular, NOT ONE SINGLE REP REPLIED “yes” or “no”. This can’t be rocket science and the answer can and should be given to future customers. Withholding this information is violating their rights to know prior to making decisions regarding discontinuing service with a former carrier or accessing Consumer Cellular carrier services .

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you so much for posting. Most unlocked GSM phones work perfectly well with our SIM card, particularly those used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile. However, every device is different, and may have different features designed for a specific carrier. Unfortunately, without trying our SIM card with that device, we can’t guarantee it will work. We’re happy to help you test your phone with one of our SIM cards, and since it is risk-free, you have nothing to lose. We’re happy to discuss this with you further if you like, we’re available at 888-345-5509 at your convenience. Thank you for your feedback, and for taking the time to reach out to us.

  97. Jonathan says

I’d like to see if my out of contract Sprint iPhone 5 works with your service. I see that my model supports both GSM and CDMA. What are my options to try this out?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Jonathan! First, we would recommend double checking that your previous carrier has unlocked your iPhone. Then, the easiest option would be to try our SIM card with your device. That way, you’ll know for sure whether it will work with our service. It’s risk-free, and we’ll give you a $10 invoice credit so your SIM card is free. You can pick one up at a Target store near you, order one here on our website or we can help you over the phone at 888-345-5509. Just select the option that is most convenient for you! Thank you for taking the time to post, and we look forward to seeing you as a Consumer Cellular customer soon!

  98. Eli Willner says

Will your SIM cards work with a Motorola WX345 phone (that was previously used by another Consumer Cellular customer)?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Eli! In most cases, phones that were purchased from Consumer Cellular are a great fit with our SIM card. We’re happy to help you get started if you call us at 888-345-5509, or you can order one of our SIM cards here on our site. You can also get a SIM card at your local Target store to test the phone with. We’ll even give you a $10 credit on your account so that it’s free of charge! We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us, and we are happy to help you with any questions you may have!

  100. Michael Duffy says

Will a brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 Active work with Consumer Cellular? I am looking to upgrade from a Galaxy S4 which is currently on Consumer Cellular. I am also looking at a Galaxy S6 regular phone.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re happy to answer your questions, Michael. If you’re looking to use a phone purchased elsewhere, you’ll want to make sure it is unlocked and that is uses the GSM network for the best results. While we can’t guarantee a device that was not purchased directly from us will work, most customers using a phone with that criteria are successful. You’ll need our SIM card to get started, or you can try switching the SIM card from your current phone. And of course, if we can help you in any way, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for posting today!

  101. Jessie Foster says

Maybe I can’t find where my Sim card goes. I don’t see any slot for a card. I have a T-mobile Xmaxs Android.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for reaching out to us, Jessie. In order to find the slot for the SIM card, you’ll need to remove the back of the phone. Once you do, you may see a small slot marked with an icon resembling a SIM card. If you continue to have trouble locating the SIM slot, we can assist you over the phone at 888-345-5509 if you like. We appreciate you posting!

It may be indeed work with our service, Kaye. In general, phones used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile work best with our SIM card. You will need to make sure that it has been unlocked by the original carrier, as we aren’t able to do that on our end. Please keep in mind that we can’t guarantee that your phone with work with our service, and the best way to know for sure is to test it with our SIM card. You can take a look at our video here to see exactly how the SIM card works with your phone. If you’re ready, you can order one from our website, pick one up at your local Target store or order over the phone at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we look forward to speaking with you soon!

  103. John Wong says

I recently requested and got a SIM card from Consumer Cellular to try to use my Samsung S4 which was used on Verizon. Since VZW uses CDMA I was worried that the phone will not work on CC which uses the GSM applications. The SIM I got was with T-Mobile which uses GSM, I followed the instruction with help of CC’s and got the phone activated and works great. Glad to be with CC as it relived me of the high charges,

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, John. We’re so glad you were able to use your current phone with our service. Here’s to serving you for years to come!

  106. Danielle says

I’m buying a used phone for my boyfriend and want to make sure I get one that’s compatible with his network (CC). I saw in another comment that Sprint phones normally do not work – would it change anything if the phone is unlocked? I’m also looking at a phone that was on a Verizon network, but doesn’t have a sim card. Are either of these possibilities? Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for reaching out to us, Danielle. Both Sprint and Verizon use CDMA technology, while our network uses GSM. For best results with our SIM card, we recommend an unlocked GSM phone, such as those used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile. We’re happy to answer any other questions you may have about our devices or SIM card at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you posting, and hope you have a wonderful day!

Thanks for asking, Bob! In general, unlocked phones used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile work best with our service, as they use GSM technology. We’re happy to test our SIM card with your phone if you like, but unfortunately, we can’t guarantee a device the we don’t offer will work with our service. If we can answer any other questions or help you order a SIM card, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we hope you have a great day!

I have IPhone 6 from Sprint, and I wonder if I can use the SIM card with that phone.

    • Thanks for your question, Valerie! In general, unlocked phones used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile work best with our service, as they use GSM technology. If your iPhone 6 is fully unlocked and takes a SIM card, there’s still a good chance it may work with our service. We’re happy to test our SIM card with your phone if you like, but unfortunately, we can’t guarantee a device that we didn’t sell will work with our service. If we can answer any other questions or help you order a SIM card, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we hope you have a great day!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for asking, DT! Most unlocked GSM devices or those using a SIM card will work with our service. The best way to know for sure if your device will work is to try it with our SIM card. I reviewed your account, and I see you are using a smartphone currently. You can test your S6 by inserting your current SIM card into that device. You can also pick up a SIM card at your local Target store, order one from our website here or call us at 888-345-5509. Currently share a plan with my wife on Verizon. I only used 2 minutes last month yet I pay over $45 or so! My phone is a Verizo Kyocera mil grade flip phone. On the screen it shows 3G and 1X under that, whatever that means. Can this phone be used on your plan???

I also have a new Kyocera that was used on AT&T but you could not move around while talking or you would lose signal so my wife switched over to Verizon (see above). What about this flip phone?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about us, Jack! In general, our SIM card works with most unlocked GSM phones, such as those used with AT&T or T-Mobile. Your Kyocera phone used previously with AT&T could work with our service, but the other most likely wouldn’t work. We do offer a great flip phone, the Consumer Cellular 101, for just $30. You can learn more about it here. We’re happy to talk with you more about our service and answer any other questions you may have. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we’ll be ready to help! Not interested in data, just voice.

Thanks for posting, Ed! If your Blackberry is unlocked and uses the GSM network, you may be able to use it for calling purposes. Please keep in mind that we aren’t able to guarantee a device sold by another company will work with our service. Just pick the option that will be the most convenient! We’re also happy to answer any questions you may have, so please don’t hesitate to give us a call. I have a Samsung sgh-a237 phone that I had with AT&T. Haven’t used it in quite awhile thought I would try with CC. I have installed the SIM card, but how do I get the system to work – I tried to activate it on your website but I no longer have the box with the activation code. I have tried calling you several times today and ended up waiting both times for over half an hour and finally hung up. Am I ever going to get this service working? I am extremely frustrated at this point – do you need to hire more people?? HELP!

    • That’s a great question! We would be happy to send you a SIM card to try or you can purchase a smartphone from us, please give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we can answer any other questions you might have.

If we get the SIM card from you all , and it works , can she keep her same # and nothing else change?
    Thank you ,
    Dan

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for taking the time to learn more about us, Daniel! It sounds like you are looking to pass your iPhone 6 on to your wife. Please keep in mind that unlocked GSM phones work best with our service, such as those used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile. We’re happy to see if your iPhone 6 will work with our SIM card, but please keep in mind that we can’t guarantee that it can be used with our service. She can keep the same phone number, it will just need to be transferred to our service. That’s simple to do, and if you have a previous invoice or bill on hand, that will have all of the information we need to port it to our service. I purchased my SIM card at target and was told by consumer cellular representative that it would not be reimbursed when I called to set up service. This website says it will be credited on my first bill. Which is correct and do I need to submit any documentation to get credit.

Will this work with an Iphone 8+? And, is there really no pay after you get it?

    • Hi Benjamin, thanks for your interest in our service! If your iPhone is unlocked from other providers, is GSM-compatible, and VoLTE capable, it may work on our network. We can’t guarantee compatibility for all models, but we’ve had good experiences in the past with iPhones as long as they meet the mentioned criteria. Because we bill in arrears, there is no bill when you first sign up, you will use it for the rest of the cycle that you sign up on and then once that ends the invoice will generate.
