    I’m confused … please clarify the statement “you can enjoy free calls between all phones on the same account.” Does that mean if my wife is on the same account as me and we call each other we are not using up minutes?

    Everyone at Consumer Cellular is great and very helpful, but my problem is I got bad phones, not cheap phones just bad, they exchanged both of them for us for the same phones but they are not any better. We have not had them a year yet so we are at a loss, we want to stay with Consumer Cellular because it is affordable for us but we only have usable phones half the time.. Now looking for two cheap phones that we can talk and text on.

    So if I were to add my wife it would add $10 per month to my bill, so if my bill were $50 it would now be $60. Better to let her have her own account.

    I currently have an old iPhone 3GS. It works fine, although most new apps and apps that are updating require a newer operating system than my phone will allow. My wife is still in the flip-phone era, though not with Consumer Cellular, so this wouldn’t bother her much. Is it possible for me to purchase a new iPhone and transfer my 3GS to her? And, if so, will I get to keep my number, will she get to keep hers, and will my contacts, apps, calendar, photos, etc. be transferrable to my new phone? Or would she have to buy a new phone of her own?

      Great question, Jim. If you purchase a iPhone, you should be able to transfer everything easily to your new phone using your Apple ID and iCloud. Make sure to back up everything to iCloud before you begin (you will probably need at least iOS 5.1.1).     Please clarify: are you saying that I can add a line to my wife’s account for $10, and share her current plan? So there would be no additional charges for me to use the same plan? I do not have to sign up for a talk/data plan of my own?
    I ask, because when I go to add a line to my wife’s account on your website, it pre-fills the order box with additional talk/data charges, and instead of showing $10 as the charge, it shows something over $30. Please clarify. Thanks!

    Hi, I want to use my cell phone as a mobile hotspot but when I enable that feature on my phone I get an error that my account is not set up for that. Do I set it up that way by adding a second line? I don’t need a second phone.

    I noticed the only question or comment consumer Cellular didn’t respond to is from 2014 a woman had the same problem I have today . I have also been debating in switching ,already left one company we had been with several years after paying a high bill and heard about CS. Reasonable price but the phones indeed go out ,go black ,won’t hold a charge, and we can’t buy a phone every other few months shouldn’t have to for what we paid for the phones. I thought we paid enough for our phones that they should last years and my husband doesn’t Tex or use internet on his phone and most times calls from my cellular phone don’t reaCh his and same his to mine! And some other calls we never c after people telling us later they called us . Voice msg com n late also. Enoyhh to change plans already ! At moment halted due to other phone pricing so far. There is one that also seems reasonable but no telling how much the phones r .. ! The phone I hav now from CS is my second and even it has been reset ,turned off then BK on lol as the rep told me to do etc..hummm?? Doesn’t look like it can be addressed but may Giv another try with diff rep and c what happens due to not having to pay so much ..will c… Because being able to communicate with others and never knowing wen I can b out and have an emergency and my phone goes out at the worst time!           Hi Anthony, the credit check does affect eligibility for our EasyPay program. If we’re not able to get you approved immediately, you may become eligible at a later date if you have active service and good payment history with us.

    I called concsumer cellular to switch my phone service to your company and I was told out of the 4 lines that I currently have on my account I would only be able to switch over 3 lines until I establish credit with your company and then I could add the 4th line later. I have excellent credit and I am confused why this has become an issure. I had called in prior to requesting the switch to ask questions and was quoted a price for 4 lines but was not told at that time that i would only be able to sign up for 3 lines in the beginning.

    • Hi Carolyn, thanks for reaching out to us. The number of lines on an account to start with can be based on the credit check that is run when the account is opened and past billing history as well. There is not a set number for the credit check but there are times when new customers do need to establish a good payment history with us before we can set up more lines or EasyPay options.

    • Hi Nancy, thanks for your interest! When first signing up for service, the max number of lines available is three, depending on the credit check that is run. If the account is eligible for it, you may be able to add all four lines when you first sign up over the phone. If not, then we need the account to be active with us for at least 50 days with a good payment history and we can reevaluate the account then for adding more lines.

    I recently purchased a LIVELY Jitterbug smartphone to replace my wife’s LIVELY Jitterbug (non-smart) flip phone. I’m very happy with the new smart phone BUT not my wife. She wants her flip phone BACK. Consumer Cellular offers a family plan. If I buy another LIVELY Jitterbug flip phone, and switch over to Consumer Cellular, can I take advantage of having (2) phones on the same NEW Consumer account?

      Thanks for reaching out, Richard. If you want to bring over a Lively phone to our service, it will need to be a VoLTE-capable, unlocked, and GSM-compatible phone. Because of this, I recommend checking their unlock policy. When you have the phone, you can check if it should be compatible here. Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee compatibility for all phone models, but our agents will do all they can to resolve any problems.
