Best of all, we’re doing it without increasing the cost. This marks the 12th time in a row that we’ve re-evaluated and restructured our rate plans without raising prices. We’re simply adding data across the board to every one of our current price tiers.

I’m so glad you finally decided to increase the lowest plan. The 250MB was skipped the last time data plans were increased. Now maybe I won’t have to change my plan every month like I did when we just barely went over the 250 limit. Thank you!
Can I buy a smart phone through Consumer Cellular? Can I make monthly payments or do I have to pay in full?
Hi Barbara, thanks for your question. You can purchase a phone with your service when you sign up. We have options for our EasyPay plan which would have you pay the phone off in $25 installments added to your monthly invoice, or you can also pay for the phone in full.
Oh no, I was told when i purchased my i phone , I MUST make monthly payments/apple care..what is the truth when purchasing I phones or any phone
Thank you for taking the time to post, John. I’m happy to clear up any confusion. When ordering a phone, it is optional to pay the phone off in monthly installments with our EasyPay program, if that is available for the phone you’re interested in. The only thing that would need to be paid for monthly is any protection plan that you purchase with the phone, whether it’s SquareTrade or AppleCare+.
In the future, if you would like to pay for AppleCare+ in full when ordering an iPhone, you can decline ours and contact Apple directly within the first 60 days of purchasing the iPhone.

Hi Marilyn, while we don’t have a way to disallow porting of your number, what you can do is have a security passcode added to the account. This would be required for porting, and you can have one set up on the account by calling us at 888-345-5510.

Thanks for your question, Gayle. If the Kindle Fire is unlocked from any providers and is able to take a SIM card, it may work on our network. We cannot guarantee that all models will be compatible but our agents will do all they can to see if we can get that to work for you.

Hi Martha, great question. 4100 megaybytes is the equivalent of about 4GB of data, we do not have a plan that is for that specific amount. However, we do have a plan for 3GB for $10 a month plus tax, or we have our 10GB plan for $20 a month plus tax. You can view these plans and more here

Hi Annie, if the smartwatch you’re interested in using connects to the phone via Bluetooth, then it can be used. However, we do not have support for smartwatches that connect directly to the cellular network, such as newer Apple watches.

Your unlimited texting is not available outside of the United States
other plans offer unlimited free texting in the Caribbean and Europe
as well, your texting is limited not unlimited as you state.

At this time, because it’s costing our customers $0.10 per text message that is sent with the international roaming feature, we do not have any near-future plans for it to be unlimited. This way we can ensure our customers are not going to be surprised by high international fees. Does messaging use up data if I’m on my own wifi? Do you have a plan with unlimited text so I don’t go over my 3GB?
Thank you for taking the time to post, Francine. Text messaging does not use up data, and all of our Connect plans include Unlimited Texting. If you are using a service such as Facebook’s Messenger, it may use some data but the amount is generally very small unless you are sending lots of pictures or videos.
If you’re using any third-party apps for messaging, you can also review the usage per app by going to Settings > Connections > Mobile Data Usage and locate the app from the list available. This will give you an idea of how much is used so that you can make sure you’re on the right plan.
