Best Apps for Last Minute Summer Travel Ideas

Summer is winding down but there’s still time to get away for a last-minute trip or enjoy an impromptu get together with good friends. If you’re looking for inspiration, and a deal or two along the way, here are some fun travel apps I use to help me make savvy use of my summertime. All of them are free, and available for both iPhone and Android smartphone users.

For a one-stop shop of flights, hotels, and car rentals, try Kayak. This app searches hundreds of travel sites to help you find the perfect place – and for a better price than booking them all separately – for your next trip. A popular feature is the ability to set up a watchlist which will send you alerts to book your trip when the price is lowest. Kayak even offers special mobile-only deals, too.

Roadtrippers is a convenient app for those who like travel both on and off the beaten path. Its database contains millions of global locations and attractions to help users plan trips, explore places, rent recreational vehicles, and more. It also lets you layer categories onto your searches to get customized recommendations for exactly the type of experiences you’re looking for.

Tired of staying at hotels? Then consider booking your next accommodations through Airbnb. It offers vacation home rentals and unique local experiences in 191 countries. An Airbnb can add a homey touch to your travels that you just won’t find in a hotel or motel room!

Perhaps you’re on a budget, or prefer a simple “staycation”. In that case, Eventbrite is an easy way to find upcoming activities near you, and purchase tickets or make arrangements to attend things like concerts, festivals, classes, and other special events. You can even save your tickets right on your mobile device! I always say my smartphone has become one of my favorite travel companions, and apps like these are a big part of the reason. With just a few clicks from wherever I am, I can arrange road trips or family gatherings in minutes! Check out a few (or all of them) yourself, and set your course for adventure, any way you like it!

Hi Kristi, while we don’t have a dedicated hotspot device, all smartphones we offer have the hotspot feature built in that can be enabled if you give us a call at 888-345-5509 or chat with us here.
