We’re on Target

TargetWordmarkVer_USCA_13_Spot

Make that, “We’re at Target.” I’m very excited to announce we just started selling our cellphone and smartphone devices at more than 1,800 Target stores around the country, making it our biggest retail partnership to date. Target currently is the second largest general merchandise retailer in America.

We are especially pleased with this new opportunity for our customers because we feel such a strong affinity for the well known Target brand promise of Expect More. Pay Less.®

To find a Target store in your neighborhood carrying our devices, please visit our website and use our store locator feature.

The good news is you won’t have to wait to start using your new device, either. After you make the purchase, simply call our customer support team at 1-888-345-5509 and they’ll immediately activate your service. Or you may choose to activate your service on your own when ready by visiting our website.

We’re constantly looking for ways to exceed your expectations while still offering friendly service designed to fit your budget. That’s why we don’t require contracts and have cellphone plans as low as $10 a month. We give our new customers a 100% risk-free guarantee when coming on board. And it’s why we offer a wide range of wireless choices, from basic flip phones to top-of-the-line smartphones.

If you’re a customer, you probably already know how we’ve enjoyed spectacular company growth in recent years. One of the benefits of this growth is that it enables us to offer you more choices, from the devices we sell to the places you can purchase them. Today, if you prefer to buy your Consumer Cellular device and service directly from a store, as many consumers do, you now have two great options: Target and Sears, both American retail icons.

But if you’d rather not visit a store and, instead, order your phone and service from home, we have those options, too. You may call us and place your order, or go online to our website and order directly from there.

Keeping our eye on the prize of delivering affordable and customer-friendly wireless service continues to earn respect. The readers of PC Magazine selected Consumer Cellular as the #1 Mobile Carrier in America for 2014. I believe that’s because we too offer more for less.

I am a member of AARP and I live in Kirksville, Mo. Are there any stores or retail stores in Kirksville that I could look at your plans and devises?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Bob. The best way to find a store is to visit our store locator page here. It will help you find the best option in your zip code. If you need any help, or have any questions about our devices or service, just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we would be happy to assist you. Thanks again!

    • Joan Gilley says

Can I pay my consumer cellular bill at any target?

      • Hi Joan, thanks for your question. Our customers aren’t able to make payments for service at Target. But you can go online to your account, call us, send in your payments, or you can set it up for automatic payments each month if you’d like.

  2. Lenora Fitzsimonds says

We have AT &T right now and we want to switch to Comm. Cell. So we went to the Sears store in Reno, NV and it was such a waste of our time. They didn’t have any of the smart phones to show me and I have now an I phone 4 and they didn’t know if I could keep my phone or not said we would have to call and find out. The salesman called but who ever he talked to didn’t know. And in the adds it says you can keep your phone!! So while we were prepared to buy my husband a new phone and sign up for service we walked out with nothing!! I would really like my question answered! Can I keep my phone and just switch the Sim card?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Lenora. If you have an unlocked, GSM phone (like one used with AT&T), then switching is easy! All you need to do is give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will walk you through the process. Thanks again!

  3. Lynn K. says

I also didn’t find Sears very helpful. Your AT&T phone will work…we switched from AT&T and had no problems on our 3 phones. Have since bought 3 new phones over the web…I couldn’t have gotten better prices anywhere else. Shipping is fast, usually receive in 2 or 3 days.

  4. Ray Baker says

can you pickup a SIM card at Target, thinking about activating another phone.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Ray! You can absolutely pick up one of our SIM cards at your local Target store. Thanks again!

      • Courtney says

Hey when we go into target where do we go to find the phones and plans

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Courtney. Our phone are located in the electronics section. You can also use our Store Locator page here to find the Target nearest you, as well as view the phones they have available. Thank you!

  5. Caridad says

I just noticed your information about Target being able to sell your phones. I looked at the store nearest me and saw that they have the Consumer Cellular Envoy and the Doro 626. I have the Doro Phone Easy 618. Will this model not be able in Target, too? Or is the sim card interchangeable?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Caridad. At this time, Target is only offering the Doro 626, which is very similar to the Doro 618. If you have any questions about switching phones, we would be happy to help. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will walk you through it. Thank you!

      • Chris says

My Target had the Moto G 1st Gen, Ascend Mate 2, Envoy, Doro PhoneEasy 618 and I believe one other Smart Phone, but the model escapes me. Plus the Dual and Nano SIMs
You really should get Target’s Website up to speed since they do only show the Doro and the SIMs.
Also, it is a little confusing to search both Sears and Target because CC is not a Pre-Paid and not Contract, so…..?

My Sears has the Moto G EXT in stock. 🙂 Would like to find it at target since you can get 5% off with the Red Card! I think I might wait to see if they come out with the Moto G 2nd Gen LTE though, I really like the 5″ screen, but also would like to have LTE capabilities. I have to say that my HSPA+ speeds are still very good though.

  6. Valerie says

      • Michele says

It’s almost a year later — Has a signal booster come available?

I am moving to the other side of Pleasanton tomorrow, and just discovered today thet my new home barely gets a cell phone signal. Do you have a booster available yet?

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Chris. We don’t have a booster available at this time, but we can take a look at the coverage near your new home and see if a new SIM card would help remedy the issue. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we will be happy to assist you. We look forward to talking with you, and appreciate you taking the time to reach out!

          • Tina says

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Tina. At this time, we do not have any boosters offered in our product lineup. We’ll be sure to update you if any become available. Thank you for checking in!

          • Crystal Madden says

            Hello,
I am also interested in a booster. Is there yet one available? We have installed a metal roof and lost signal. We could really use some help. Your assistance is appreciated.

It seems like many people are interested in this feature, and I would like to request Consumer Cellular spend some resources to offer this feature if they don’t already.

            Thank you.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Crystal. At this time, we don’t offer a booster. I’ve passed your request on to our product team, so thank you for the suggestion. If we do offer one in the future, we will be sure to notify our customers here on the blog and via other channels. We appreciate you taking the time to post today!

          • Charl says

I am also looking for a signal booster that I can use in my car. I just got an iPhone 7 and I have never had so many dropped calls. Connect disconnect reconnect repeat. Is there a particular one that works? Having one from consumer cellular would make everyone’s customer satisfaction a lot better.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Charl. We don’t offer a signal booster at this time, but we are happy to see if a new SIM card is needed or if any updates can be sent to your device to resolve the issue. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we will be ready to assist you. We appreciate you reaching out to us, and we hope to speak with you soon!

    • Megan says

Any signal booster yet? I have a brand new SIM card from Consumer Cellular. We don’t get good reception in our house.

We recently switched to Consumer Cellular and brought our own phones. I was considering buying a phone through you guys since those are “the only ones guaranteed to work,” but if nothing will be done about our poor reception, I’m not going to bother.

      • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Megan. We don’t offer a signal booster at this time, but we would like to take a look at the coverage in your area to see if we can resolve this for you. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509 at your convenience, and we will be ready to assist you. We appreciate you reaching out to us, and we look forward to speaking with you!

  7. John says

We recently went to the Target store in our city to look at the Consumer Cellular phones and were disappointed to see them located on a back display out of site. Target needs to put these out front!!!

  8. Bob S says

Sears has a really nice looking LG phone, but clicking on the link brings me to a Consumer Cellular site which does not include this brand. Is it supported? Many of the customer reviews for Consumer Cellular state that tech support will tell the customer a phone is supported, but then when the setup process is complete, features are not supported. Do you have a list of FULLY supported phones?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Bob. Sometimes the phone available in our retail locations are not sold via our website. We fully support any Consumer Cellular phone sold in one of our retail locations. If you have any questions about the LG phone, please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we would be happy to answer them for you. Thank you!

    • sms says

There is no list of supported phones. You need to research it yourself. You will never get a coherent answer from technical support, they just don’t understand the technology. Beware that most of the phones sold directly by Consumer Cellular do not support LTE at all (only the iPhones that they sell support LTE).

Look for unlocked (or AT&T) quad band GSM plus LTE phones that support at least all the AT&T LTE bands (2, 4, 17).

      For example:

The U.S. GSM Moto G LTE (XT1045) supports LTE bands 2, 4, 5, & 17, It’s best to buy the unlocked version from Amazon or Motorola versus the locked one from AT&T.

      GSM iPhones support LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29.

  9. Mike says

I’m interested in an iphone 6 since the 64 GB is not available through CC at this time. Can I get one at Target with the same pricing as offered on the CC website ($200 down and $25 for 20 months) or do I have to purchase it at Target pricing?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Mike. At this time, we only offer our iPhones on our website and over the phone. If you have any questions about our iPhone availability, please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can help. Thank you!

  10. Anne Marie Lipinski says

How can we get our phone numbers transferred from my Verizon (2 year plan) phone to our new Consumer Cellular Phones (Envoy and Doro 618.)? I am thinking Verizons in not going to be too happy about loosing customers.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Anne Marie. To get the process started, give our customer support team a call at 888-345-5509, and we will get you started. Thank you!

  11. William says

Same question as Mike on Oct 27 – but I’m interested in the Ascend Mate 2 which our Target does carry. Do I only have the payment option thru CC?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, William. At this time, our EasyPay program is only offered through direct sales. If you would like to learn more about it, please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will be happy to walk you through the process. Thanks again!

  12. Brensda Dodgens says

I have checked the company website for phones for sale..new or used and for the past couple of months the site states ‘out of stock’. Is this because of Target and Sears now being suppliers or another reason?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Brenda. Depending on the phone you are looking for, we may experience high demand at a given time. If you ever have a question about the availability of a certain phone, give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can help you find an option that will work best for you. Thank you again!

  13. Billie Coleman says

“We went to Target in Greenville, SC to inquire about CC. They had a small display of phones and brochures in the very back of store. The sales rep told us where it was but gave us no information even though we asked several questions. He just told us to pick up a brochure and call CC. We left there and went to Sears on another day. The sales rep at Sears was VERY helpful, answering all our questions about CC and even showing us the phones. We purchased phones from Sears and signed up with CC
I am disappointed that you signed a large contract with Target. We will not be shopping there.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry you had such a frustrating experience, Billie. Thank you for letting us know, and I have forwarded your comments on to the appropriate managers. Thanks again!

  14. Sherrill McCullough says

When will Consumer Cellular offer a signal booster? We cannot use our cell phones inside our house because of radiant barrier in our attic and are frustrated that we cannot receive or make calls without having to go outside.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Sherrill. At this time, we don’t offer a signal booster, but I’ve passed your feedback on to our product team. If Thank you for taking the time to let us know. If you have any questions about your signal or are experiencing further issues, please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we would be happy to assist. Thanks again!

  15. D Fenno says

I would also love to have a cell signal booster for my residence. No (well, actually not no signal, but weak to none sporadically) AT&T signal that is reliable at that location. Please consider!

  16. Hayden says

Hi! I was on the Target website earlier, and they didn’t have Consumer Cellular listed as one of their carriers. Is this because not EVERY store carries your devices, or because you ride on other networks’ lines, or what? Please get back!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Hayden. We are available at Target, but we are not available through online sales. You can see which Target stores carry our phones by using our Store Locator at ConsumerCellular.com/storelocator. If you run into any trouble, feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thanks again!

      • Hayden says

OK. Thanks! I was just thinking that they’d have them all listed. And thankfully, my local Target was on your store locator. So, you’ll be getting a new customer soon!

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re glad to hear it! Please let us know if you need anything, we’re happy to help!

  17. Joni says

We upgraded from a 5s to a 6 plus iphone. Can we activate the 5s with ConsumerCellular?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Joni. If the phone was previously used with our service, or if it is an unlocked, GSM phone, you can most likely use it with our SIM card. We can’t guarantee phones purchased elsewhere will work with our service, but we have had a great deal of success with iPhones. If you would like to get started, give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can get a SIM card on the way to you. Thank you for commenting!

  18. Steven says

Any progress on a signal booster? We just changed over after repeatedly checking signal strength at our home including speaking with representatives more than once. But when we came online it was one dot or no signal often. I also drove around our road for a mile near our house and it was one dot, no dots, or 2 sometimes (but nowhere within a half mile of the house.)

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for reaching out to us, Steven. I see that our customer service representative Vanessa was able to reset your service yesterday and get this resolved for you. We’re so glad she was able to help you get better service, and we hope you’ll let us know if there is anything else we can do for you today. Thank you!

  19. alisha says

does easy pay still apply to the phone ($50 down for iPhone 6) if I buy it at a target?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Alisha. You can indeed get an iPhone with EasyPay at our Target locations, and they will even activate the phone for you. Thank you for posting!

      • alisha says

Wow that’s great and convenient. Thank you so much. I plan on going to get an iPhone tomorrow at my local target!

  20. Linda says

I am a Target team member, will I get my store discount if I purchase one of your phones?

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Linda! There aren’t any discounts that Target employees can use when purchasing a device directly from Consumer Cellular. However, I’d recommend checking with your supervisor regarding using your store discount on purchasing a Consumer Cellular device at a Target Store. Thanks for the question, Linda.

  21. Joan says

i have had Consumer Cellular phones for several years but am frustrated because we still have poor signal at our home. If I purchase an AT&T signal booster will it work with my Consumer Cellular phone?? Thanks!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a good question, Joan. The signal inside your home can be affected by many things, including building materials and trees. We can’t guarantee that a signal booster would provide you with any improvement, but you are welcome to try. We’re happy to troubleshoot any connection issues you may be having on our end, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for taking the time to comment today!

    • Ann says

Joan, Can you post here and let everyone know if the at@t signal booster helps.

  22. Stephanie says

Can I use a one plus one phone with CC service?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Stephanie. In general, our SIM cards work best with unlocked, GSM network compatible phones. If you have a One Plus One phone that accepts a SIM card, we’re happy to work with you to try it out. We do caution that we may not be able to support all of the features of the phone, but we’ll do our best. You can find our SIM cards at your local Target or Sears stores, here on our website, or we can get one to you if you give us a call at 888-345-5509. Best of all, we’ll give you a $10 credit on your invoice so the card is free! We appreciate you taking the time to comment today!

  23. Karen Ayers says

My husband and I have service with AT&T and our service plan is over in October 2015. We are tired of the high cost of services contract plans. We are AARP members and we seen this great offer for cell phones and cellular plan. Now we are due a upgrade on our phone. So if we get a upgrade meaning newer phone which will be a galaxy s 4 because we have the galaxy s 3. Now we don’t have to sign another contract with AT&T by getting these new upgrade. It just cheaper to get the phone now then later while we are still on a plan. Can we get the phone service with you guys and be able to keep our same phone number. Because I don’t mind the new phone I really hate learning new numbers everytime you switch services or companies

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

You can absolutely keep your number, Karen. Once you are ready to switch, just give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we’ll take care of the transfer. Be sure to have an invoice from your previous carrier handy, and don’t cancel the service until we’ve confirmed the details. That’s it! If we can answer any questions for you, please feel free to call us at the same number. Thank you for taking the time to comment, and we look forward to serving you!

  24. John Schiefen says

I have a LG Expression. Can I use this with Consumer Cellular?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, John. If you used your LG Expression previously with AT&T or T-Mobile, it sounds like a good fit with our SIM card. You’ll need to make sure that it is unlocked by the previous carrier as unfortunately, we can’t do that on our end. While we can’t guarantee that your phone will work, we’ll certainly do our best to help adjust settings and assist you. The best way to know for sure is to try our free SIM card, which you can find at Target or Sears or here on our site. Once you activate it, we’ll give you a $10 credit so the SIM card is completely free of charge. If we can answer any questions or get a SIM card on the way to you now, just give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we will be happy to help! Thank you for commenting, and we look forward to speaking with you!

  25. Joseph E Baier says

Target in Kingsport does not know who should be honoring the warranty policy. Bought a 150 dollar phone there yesterday and returned it today(unopened) because they do not know who is really responsible for covering the guarantee.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, Joseph. We’re happy to help you with this over the phone at 888-345-5509. We’ll assist you in returning the device or any other account issues that may need resolution. Thank you for posting, and we look forward to speaking with you!

  26. Bob LaMarche says

Any news on the signal booster question? I may be moving to an area that barely gets one bar and I would love to keep your service but not sure if I can

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Bob. If you’re moving to a new area, we’re happy to take a look at your coverage and see if a new SIM card is in order. Our service is available on two of the largest nationwide networks, so most likely you won’t need another provider. Otherwise, you’re welcome to try a signal booster with our service, but we won’t be able to guarantee that it will fix the issue. At the moment, we don’t offer a booster of our own, so we may not be able to assist you with using it should you need additional support. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will be happy to take a look at the coverage around your new home. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out today, and we hope you have a great day!

  27. R. Reed says

Would I be charged the .25 per minute from incoming calls on my cell phone basic plan ($10 per month)?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s correct, R. Our $10 plan is perfect for the user who only needs their phone for emergencies or very few calls. If you find yourself using your phone more often, you may want to try one of our other plans here. After all, you can switch back and forth as often as you like. We’re happy to talk with you about our plans at 888-345-5509, so please feel free to call us if you have any questions. Thank you for taking the time to post today!

  28. Kenny says

I currently have 2 cell phones (2 seperate lines) I want to drop one line and add an Iphone. Keep the other line as is with cell phone.

We can assist you with that, Kenny! You can change a device for a line you already have by logging into My Account, and following the steps we’ve laid out here. We can also help you order the iPhone over the phone at 888-345-5509 if that is more convenient. Whichever option you choose, we can get you up and running with a new device in no time at all! Thank you for posting today!

When will you offer a repeater/signal booster? We live in a rural area with a standing seam metal roof and need this device to make a change to your service possible.
    Yours

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Sheree! We don’t currently offer a trade-in program or another option that allows you to get a new phone free of charge. If you’re experiencing issues with your current phone, we’re happy to work with you to resolve them and make your device feel as good as new! 33. ANNETTE RIGGS says

Very little to no signal where I live. This was not the case when we first started with Consumer Cellular in 2015. Seems to have diminished within the last 6 months or so. Spoke with someone at Cons. Cell. and their only recommendation was to do a master reset on phone. Not going to happen. Last time that was recommended for another problem, it messed up everything. Really need a fix for this.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for commenting, Annette. I reviewed your account, and I see that our account advisors worked with you to troubleshoot this issue. In order to do further investigation, a master reset would be needed. We’re happy to address your concerns with you at 888-345-5509 if you like. We appreciate you reaching out to us, and we hope to speak with you soon!

  34. patti brown says

They can help you with that, Joan. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll be happy to schedule a visit at a Target store near you. Thanks for posting!

Will someone at Target help remove my old sim card and install the new sim card for me? I tried taking the old one out – no luck. Also can I request (and get) AT&T for service. I’d be vistiing Target in Leominister, MA. Currently I have a Galaxy S8 phone. Will this work on the network. Will the person at Target me able to help or just take orders?

    Thanks

Hi Geo, the Target store in Leominister, MA should have a team member in their mobile department that can assist you. However, I recommend calling them ahead of time at 978-534-2914 to make sure since we don’t know their schedule.

What about warranty issues. My consumer cellular Link 2 which I bought 2 months ago is not working right. I want to get another new one. What is the warranty on this phone, and who do I go for warranty replacement????

    • Hi Jeff, thanks for your post. I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re having with your phone. Before a warranty can be processed for a device, any and all troubleshooting must be completed. Give us a call at 800-686-4460 or chat with one of our agents here for further assistance.
