Tuesday Tip: Support Videos for the Moto G EXT

We’ve heard from many of our customers about how much they are enjoying their new Motorola Moto G EXT smartphone. While it’s always fun getting to know a new phone, even the most tech-savvy can get stuck on something they’re unfamiliar with.

One comment we hear time and again when we talk to customers over the phone is “I wish you could show me how to do this.” That’s why we release series of How-To videos every time a new phone is released.

We have videos on everything from a general tour that highlights some of the phone’s basic options, to more specific topics that show you how to use all the most popular features like the camera, text messages and smartphone apps. I’ll guide you through each step, using the exact same Moto G EXT that you have in your hand.

The great thing about these videos is that you can pause them, fast-forward, or revisit topics until you become an expert. I’ve posted one of the most popular videos for the EXT below. Check it out as well as all the other videos on our Support Page, and you’ll be an expert in no time at all.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Charles. You can purchase a Moto G EXT at Sears, through our website, or by calling us at 888-345-5509. The EXT is $150. Thank you!

Hi Charlie. If you have not gotten the Moto G Ext yet you can purchase from Sears. They sell most of all the phones that CC sells. Sometimes you can get on sale. If you get one it is best to buy their warrenty program also. I had a Huawei 8652 and it was not working properly. Consmuer Celluar reps tried to help get it working to no avail. Sent it back to sears warrenty plan and they replaced the purchase amount and Voila!! I now have a new Moto G ext. This is a great phone I compared several phones on CC website and this was tops for the price there are more expensive phone, but this will survice. Good Luck if have not gotten One & if you have you will LOVE IT

The video on how to text was really for someone who texted before. The message was too simple…did not show how to space, captalize, etc. . I feel that it should show all aspects of texting. Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Elo. We appreciate feedback, and are always working to make these videos more useful for our customers. I’ve passed the feedback on to the video team. Thank you again!

I purchased a Moto G at Target and at this point, I am very disappointed. I had a Motorola Bravo and was expecting an improvement over the older unit. I now wish that I had kept the older Bravo. I had intended to purchase the 5 inch Smartphone but was unable to view the actual unit as the Sales Rep stated he didn’t have one for display. The unit I purchased has about the same size screen as the old Bravo. I have contacted Consumer Cellular several times about having problems with connecting with WIFI and with moving data and files from my old Bravo to the Moto G and still cannot get this this done. One of the Reps informed me I should us “Motorola Migrate” to move the data from my old unit to the new. I am unable to find this App or Icon on either unit. During my efforts, I have received alerts stating my alloted data is close to exceeding my plan limit. Guess I will continue with my efforts and if all else fails, will try to return the Moto G to Target. Thanks

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry about the frustration, Don. You should be able to search the Google Play store for the Migrate app, or you can try the link here. If you continue to have problems, please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will be happy to help. Thank you!

Gosh, Don, I sure hope your problems with the Moto-G have been solved. I’m a 73-year old senior citizen and I absolutely love my Moto-G EXT phone. The 5″ screen is wonderful on my old eyes and it only took a few days of experimenting to become comfortable with it. While I make few phone calls, and use only a few of the thousands of text messages my plan allows, I use the Moto-G every day to read e-mail, check Facebook, log in to my bank where I can deposit checks online, log my food at My Fitness Pal, donate to my local animal shelter by tracking the miles I walk my dog with an app from WoofTrax, and keep track of my general fitness with Noom. I don’t know what I did without it.

I’m able to receive email on my att Yahoo email account. But I am unable to send any it appears like the message is being sent but it never gets to the recipient. Is there some way to diagnose and fix this?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, James. If you are using the email app with your Moto G EXT, try checking your outgoing mail settings to be sure they are accurate. If you are using Wi-Fi, your problem may also have to do with the strength of your connection. Try disconnecting, then reconnecting to Wi-Fi, then send a test email. If you are using the data from your plan, try turning your phone off, then on so you can get the strongest connection to your local tower. You can also try downloading the official Yahoo mail app, which may work better. If the issue continues, we’re happy to troubleshoot it with you over the phone. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll do our best to get it resolved. Thank you for posting today!

I am trying to use the speaker on my phone MotoGExt. Need help.?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We can help you with that, Elizabeth! If you’re looking to use the speaker while on a call, place the call, then look for the speaker icon to appear on your screen. If you want to use the talk-to-text feature, you will just want to tap the microphone icon above the keyboard. We’re happy to help you with any other questions you may have about the Moto G EXT at 888-345-5509. Thanks for taking the time to post, and we hope you have a great day!
