The Last of the Baby Boomers Turns 50!

First it was The Last of the Mohicans, the novel. Then came The Last of the Red Hot Mamas, the singer. And now, music please, it’s … The Last of the Baby Boomers Turn 50. I may sound light-hearted but this is big news.

How big? Baby Boomers – defined as a person who was born during the Post-World War II baby boom, between the years of 1946 and 1964 – are one of the largest demographic groups in human history. Since January 1st, 1996, a member of the Baby Boomer generation turned 50 on the average of every 7.5 seconds, according to a statistic from the National Council on Aging.

So, what’s a Baby Boomer to do? Celebrate.

In fact, I’m pleased to announce that Consumer Cellular has joined AARP in an on-going celebration of this historic milestone. We’ll be sponsoring content on AARP’s website and throughout their publications during their year-long “Boomers@50+” campaign, including a six-part series in AARP The Magazine. The plan is to acknowledge and celebrate the many accomplishments of the Boomer generation.

Here at Consumer Cellular, we regularly celebrate this important demographic with cell phone plans starting as low as $10 a month and exclusive discounts for AARP members.  In fact, as the exclusive wireless provider for AARP we’re pleased to offer AARP members a monthly discount of 5%, plus a 30% discount off select accessories. Additionally, they get an expanded 45-day money back, risk-free guarantee.

I look forward to meeting and exceeding your service expectations in the years ahead. We are proud to be a brand that Boomers embrace and to join hands with AARP in celebrating a truly historic year.

Congratulations to the final Boomer class. Fifty is a great number.
