The Holiday Gift Guide — Wireless gifts for all!

As you know, cellphones do much more than keep pockets warm. And these days, they’re packed with more useful features than ever. Since finding the right phone and model for a loved one can get tricky, we’ll show you plenty of options in our Holiday Gift Guide. You’ll find gift ideas that keep affordability and portability top of mind.

For first time cellphone users who prefer to keep things simple, we recommend our great feature phones. Both our Doro and Envoy phones are easy and intuitive to use. Flip phones like the Doro PhoneEasy 626 are ideal for seniors who value features like large type and big buttons, and the Consumer Cellular Envoy appeals to anyone who likes a small and affordable device they can keep in their pocket.

Our Android smartphones have been crowd pleasers this year, especially for anyone wanting a phone with more capabilities. Multiple devices are available like the Huawei Vision 3 LTE, Motorola Moto E LTE and Moto G LTE and the Huawei Ascend Mate 2. Also, we now offer five models of the iPhone which is still one of the most popular smartphones in the world. Its intuitive design is great for users of all levels. Our EasyPay interest-free financing makes an iPhone easier than ever to afford, too.

Know someone who’d like to leave their land line behind and save money? Our new Home Phone Base works anywhere cellphone service and electricity are available. It’s totally portable making it a great gift for those who travel. They can even keep their same home phone number.

Wondering what to do with your old phone? Re-gift it! A family member may find it to be a great way to see if a cellphone is right for them without needing to purchase one. In just a few quick steps, you can have the phone switched over. They just need one our free SIM cards. It’s that simple.

One special gift applies to everyone this year! Our $20 holiday promotion! Through December 31st, we’ll credit your account $20 for each new line of service you add. It’s just $10 more each month to add a line to your account, so go ahead and get started here.

Our customer service team will assist you with your gift search, too. They’re just a click or phone call away. And, be sure to share the Holiday Gift Guide with your friends, too. Who knows, they may want to pick something out for you!

  3. Ed says

I use tracfone as my server just bought a new phone from them no activated yet. Can I use this phone on your plan??

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Ed. First, if you just purchased the phone, it may be locked by Tracfone. You would need to make sure they unlock it for you as we can’t unlock another carriers phone. Second, if it is a GSM phone, you may be able to use our SIM card with it. While we can’t guarantee it will work, our SIM cards are free of charge so it is risk free. If you’re ready, you can find our SIM cards here on our site, at your local Target or Sears store. If it is more convenient for you, we can help you at 888-345-5509 and get a new SIM card on the way to you. We appreciate you reaching out to us and we look forward to speaking to you soon!

  4. Mike says

Will CC be adding wi-fi calling soon? It would be greatly appreciated!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Mike. At the moment, we don’t have this option available, but thank you for letting us know you’re interested. Hearing suggestions from our customers really helps us to determine which features would be beneficial to add. I’ve passed your comments on to our management team, and we appreciate you taking the time to share them with us!

  5. Dave says

It would be nice & much easier for me to be able to send & receive text from this website when I am at home. Don’t think that should be too big of a deal for CC to hook us up with.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate the feedback, Dave. At this point, we don’t have a chat feature, but we’re happy to assist you through email if that is more convenient. Just send us a message to [email protected] and we’ll respond as quickly as we can, often within 24-48 hours. Of course, we’re also available at 888-345-5509 to help you over the phone. Thank you for posting today!

  6. Joseph says

Would my Droid Razr Max accept your sim card?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Joseph. In general, our SIM cards work with most unlocked GSM phones, or those used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile. If your Droid Razr Maxx is unlocked, we’re happy to try our SIM card with it. You can find our SIM cards at your local Target or Sears stores, on our website here or you can order one over the phone at 888-345-5509. While we can’t guarantee that our SIM card will work with your device, we’re happy to give it our best effort. We appreciate you taking the time to post, and we hope to speak to you soon!

  7. Deedra says

It’s been days…well over 48 hours since I’ve begun trying to get some help and answers from Customer Service. Why am I being ignored?

At the very least, please send me the return label for my phone. If this company won’t respond to my requests for help, then I really don’t want to give it my business.

    Very disappointed.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We certainly apologize for any delays, Deedra. In general, we do our best to return emails within 24-48 hours. I was able to take a look at your account, and I see that Shannon, your account advisor, was able to respond to you and help you get this resolved. Thank you for your patience, and we do apologize for any frustration. We appreciate your business, and look forward to serving you in the future. If we can help you with anything else at this time, please feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for commenting, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

      • Marla Satterthwaite says

If you try to call that number you will be on hold for 30 minutes!

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Marla. We have had some increased call volume as of late, and we have hired many new representatives to help reduce the hold times. They are currently in training, so we appreciate your patience at this time. 888-345-5509 is still the best number for you to call when you need some help. We apologize for any frustration, and hope you have a wonderful day!

  8. Joan Van Orman says

I need to get a case for my husband’s new Doro phone which he loves! The Target where I made the purchase doesn’t carry your accessories. Please help–he wants one that hooks on his belt. Thanks

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hello Joan, thanks for the question. We do sell cases that hook on to a belt. If you’re interested in purchasing one from us, please call us at 888-345-5509 and we’ll be more than happy to help. As always, we offer free shipping as well so you won’t have to worry about an additional shipping expense.

  9. Esther Wells says

2 questions… #1. I was given a used LG tablet, is there anyway to connect this to my data plan? #2 my second phone, is no longer being used. Can I still download pictures after phone number is deactivated?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Esther! In general, our SIM card could be placed within your LG tablet if there is a SIM card slot. Just be mindful that tablets may use more data than your phone, so it’s always best to use Wi-Fi when it’s available. As for downloading photos from your phone, as long as it is powered on, you should be able to do so. If we can answer any other questions you may have about your new tablet or your phone, just let us know at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you posting today!

  10. Richard Loveall says

I keep receiving text messages but I don’t have them included in my plan. I have gone to the menu and set text messages to “off” but I still keep getting them. I’m having to pay for them and don’t want them. How do I stop the unwanted text messages?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We can help you with that, Richard. If you give us a call at 888-345-5509, we can remove that option from your account. That way you won’t receive any messages unintentionally. Thank you for posting, and we look forward to resolving this for you!

  11. Martin Boersma says

I truly believe it would be beneficial to all customers of CC to offer the Minutes, Text, & Data opportunities separately rather than to bundle Text & Data. Customers may very well want more data but wouldn’t have any need for unlimited texts. In a sense, we are then paying for something we don’t need. Thank you for a great company and great service.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We really appreciate your feedback, Martin. When you tell us about plan features that you would find helpful or useful, it allows us to create better plans for the changing needs of our customers. I’ve passed your ideas on to our management team, so thank you for sharing them. Thank you for posting as well, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

  12. Jack says

My wife and I both have the Motorola Moto E. Our adult children both have the newest iPhone, which is 9 times more expensive, not to mention their service plans at 5 times the cost of Consumer Cellular. In my informal comparison, the Moto E does essentially everything the iPhone does and in some cases does it better.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s great to hear, Jack! Our customers often find they can save money while still getting the same features with our service. Thanks for sharing your experience!

  13. Lucille DeMeis says

I have tried to reach you by phone which is almost impossible to get any one to speak with. How can it be every time I have phoned to be told I need to wait 15 minutes for help or leave my phone # and still not able to get through to leave my phone # for a call back.

I am interested in purchasing an apple I phone 6s. However, I would like to know the difference between at 6s and a 6s plus.
    Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We apologize for the inconvenience, Lucille. We have had some unusually high call volume, but please know we are currently training many new employees to reduce those hold times. As for the difference between the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, the biggest difference is in the size. The 6s has a 4.7 inch display while the 6s Plus has a 5.5 inch display. You can learn more about them at ConsumerCellular.com/iPhone as well as view the different colors. If you have any additional questions regarding the iPhone options, please give us a call. Thank you for your patience, and we’re sure you’ll enjoy either option!

  14. Susan says

I have your home phone service and love it, works perfectly. As for my cell phones I left Verizon (had two flip phones) and recently purchased and activated 2 motorola moto e phones, and mine is working fine, but my other line (mom’s) is in an area where she can get no signal inside her home. She is too old to be walking around her house or going outside to make or receive calls. We have tried all the move to a window or go upstairs and not much improvement. This is her only lifeline if she loses power, her cable and home phone do not work. Can you help me with this? I would like to return the phone for a refund BUT I want to be sure I can port her phone number again to another carrier.

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hello Susan, as long as you’re within the risk-free trial period, you may return the device and receive a full refund. We do operate on two different networks however, so another option would be for us to send you a SIM card for the other network, so you can see if that works better for your mother. If you’re interested in pursuing that option further, please feel free to give us a ring at 888-345-5508. Thank you.

  15. Polina says

How can I get a discount as a AARP member ? I couldn’t find a way to get it.

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Polina! Thanks for asking. We’ll just need your AARP Member Number in order to make sure you get the discount each and every month. Please feel free to either email that information to us at [email protected] or call us at 888-345-5508, and we’ll be more than happy to take care of that for you.

  16. Lu says

Paid for service on Wednesday. It’s now Friday. I’ve been waiting three days for my number to port over to Consumer Cellular. I’m on hold now with CC for over 15 minutes and NOT happy about it.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We apologize for the wait, Lu. I’m glad to see that Joi, your account advisor, was able to help you with this porting issue. Thank you for being patient while we work with your previous carrier to get this taken care of. If we can help you with anything else at this time, please don’t hesitate to call us at 888-345-5509. Thank you for commenting, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

  17. marcia canville says

Our phones are missing calls. Do we need new phones or resetting?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re happy to troubleshoot this issue for you, Marcia. Your devices may need some new updates or a different SIM card. If you give us a call at 888-345-5509, we’ll be happy to resolve this for you so you won’t miss any important calls. Thank you for taking the time to post, and we look forward to speaking to you soon!

  18. Leanne Hayes says

We bought our son a phone upgrade for Christmas. Do we have to activate it right away, or can we wait until Christmas?

    • Hi Leanne, thanks for your question. You can definitely wait until Christmas to activate the phone, I would just let our agents know you don’t want it activated if you call in to speak with our agents at all.
