Simple Smartphone Value, from the Alcatel Kora

Sometimes, there’s something to be said for simplicity.

The Alcatel Kora keeps it simple. It’s a well-designed, capable smartphone designed for those who prefer reliability and great value to a long list of the latest bells-and-whistles. Priced at just $60, it’s an excellent choice for both first time smartphone users and experienced users on a budget.

It’s easy to use straight out of the box, giving you immediate access to essential apps and widgets without requiring extensive set up time. The Android™ 7.0 operating system is perfect for proficient multitasking, and there’s plenty of processing speed plus 4G LTE connectivity for Internet browsing, checking email, or watching videos on the crisp 5” display.

A 5MP camera with multiple shooting modes delivers bright, clear snapshots. There’s even a Polaroid filter option included, which lets you edit your pictures to give them that classic vintage look, as well as a Panorama setting to capture wide scenes. There’s 8GB of internal memory as well as a 16GB microSD card, offering plenty of storage for all your photos and other important files.

We can help you with that, Renita! In order to transfer your current phone number to Consumer Cellular, you’ll want to make sure your previous account is still active. Then we’ll need some account information to start the transfer, so if you have a previous bill or invoice on hand, that will be quite helpful. To get started, you can call us at 888-345-5509 or select a plan and device on our website. Thank you for posting today, and we’re so glad to hear that you’re considering our service!

I am checking to see if my minutes/texts can be used to contact New Zealand and if not, what plan do I need to be able ring or text New Zealand. I am on the $25 plus $10 for an extra line plan. Thank you for your help.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Marie. You can indeed use your Consumer Cellular phone to call New Zealand. When you make international calls, you use minutes from your plan. In addition, there is a per-minute international charge, which you can view by country here. Is there a way to manual add contacts to the as I could not get the sim card transfer to work?

    reply to Rick

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for posting, Rick! You can try transferring your contacts via Bluetooth instead. I was able to review your account, and I see that you recently switched from a Doro 626 to the Alcatel Kora. First, go ahead and enable Bluetooth on both devices. Next, you’ll need to take the following steps on the Doro. Start by going to your Menu, then select Phonebook. Scroll to the contact you want to transfer and select Options, then Send vCard. Choose the option to Send by Bluetooth, and then choose the device you want to send it to. Select Bond, and confirm by selecting Yes. You’ll need to make sure to accept the Bluetooth pairing on the Kora as well. Once the contact is sent, the phone will say “Done”. There should then be a message on the Kora to save the contact. We’re happy to walk you through this over the phone if you like at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you reaching out to us, and we hope you enjoy your new smartphone!

I bought this phone for my wife, she loves it now that she has used it for 6 months. It was the right price – $60. It has 8 GB storage and an included 16 GB microSD card. I’m going to snag that microSD card if I need more memory. I haven’t actually verified if it does include this microSD card.

This phone does not seem to be available on the Consumer Cellular website anymore.
