Our New Cellphone Plans Give You More Value for the Same Low Price

I’m pleased to announce that for the 10th time in 8 years, we’re enhancing our cellphone plans to give you more talk, text messages and data—at the same low price as before. You read that correctly. We’re giving you more of everything but we are not increasing our prices one penny.

That’s because we want you to continue to get the most value for your money.

So what does this mean to you and your plan? For starters, your Talk plan automatically will include extra minutes, which means you don’t have to do anything to take advantage of the change. You’ll notice these new changes in the invoice we send you in March.

Additionally, you can now talk as long as you like, with our unlimited talk plan—another big addition to our new cellphone plans.

Our new plans extend to our Connect plans for text messaging and data use, as well. All Connect plans receive more text messages and web data for the same low price.  And we’ve even added a new level to give our most active users unlimited text messaging options, as well as a whopping 4GB of web data.

For a complete picture of how these changes improve your current cellphone plan, please check out the chart below. I think you’ll be pleased with what you see.

Finally, don’t forget you can always share your minutes, messages and data with family members through our affordable Family Share Plan. For only $10 more per line a month, you can add loved ones to your account and get the best value for your family in the process. Best of all, if you all are on the same Consumer Cellular account, you can call each other for free – even with our unlimited plan.

As co-founder and CEO of Consumer Cellular, I find it especially gratifying to see how our customers, through the years, have embraced the phones and plans we offer.  From holding conversations to downloading apps, they have come to expect exceptional value out of their mobile phone experience. And “value” is what we strive to deliver every day.

Value is a two-way street. Giving more for the same price is just one example of how we value you, our loyal customers. Thank you for selecting Consumer Cellular.

this was great news, you all are the best in everything, service and anything else we have ever needed,Thanks

    • Marv Simpson says

The data use area of cellphone service is home to the hottest competition right now in the brawl for market share, and I’m delighted to see that CC’s $40.00/month for 4GB of data is very competitive.

Does online music listening via entities such as Spotify and IHeartRadio count against the monthly data limits. T-Mobile doesn’t count such listening towards monthly data caps although Boost Mobile still does, so I hope you folks will consider modifying your cap restrictions in the near future..

      • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Marv. Streaming music online does count against your data plan, but you can stream it using Wi-Fi instead. That way you can enjoy your music without worry. Thanks again!

        • allen says

What about offering unlimited data but keep the msg separate? My wife and I dont text nearly as much as what we pay for but both want more data.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the feedback, Allen. We know that some customers use more data than others, and others use more texts than minutes. I’ve sent your suggestion to our management team for their consideration. Understanding the wants and needs of our customers is important to us, and helps keep us on the right track. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.

          • Debbie says

Allen-I’m with you. I don’t text very often and need the data more often. Great suggestion. Hoping they will take it into consideration to separate the two.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Debbie. We really do appreciate suggestions from customers like yourself and Allen, so please continue to share your feedback and ideas with us. Have a great day!

          • Craig says

I’m also with Allen. We would like to have much more data — and we are willing to have another tier up.

          • Frank says

Just for balance, I’m one of those people who sends a lot of texts. Frankly, I’d rather send a text than get on the phone. I’ll probably use more data now that I upgraded my phone, but I’m guessing that the amount that I have will be enough.

          • Sandra says

I’m with you on that, Allen! I’m not much of a texter and would appreciate buying fewer texts and more data.

        • Jona says

Re: using WiFi vs. Data. I don’t know the difference; how do I switch between the two to make sure I use WiFi?

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a great question, Jona. If you have Wi-Fi turned on, you won’t use data from your plan. All you need to do is go to your Settings, then choose Wi-Fi. Make sure it is turned on, and you will be able to connect to an available Wi-Fi network. If you run into any issues, give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will be happy to walk you through it. Thanks again for reaching out to us!

        • Art says

The management team was supposed to address the issue of providing a signal booster similar to the AT&T 3G microcell. I also contacted aarp to represent my concern at the meeting. We are in a grey zone in our condo with zero phone reception. As soon as we leave the condo, we have perfect reception. UGH! Thanks.

          • Jan says

I, too, would like to know about a booster. I knew that reception in my house would be problematic having had an att phone prior to 2000. It would be nice to have a fix since everything else about CC is great.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Jan. We do have the option of trying a different SIM card in your phone, which can help solve some of those reception issues. We’d be happy to take a look at that for you. As for the booster, I’ve forwarded your feedback on to our management team. We appreciate hearing suggestions from customers, as they help us in determining which new products and features would be helpful for our customers. We’re glad you are enjoying your service, and we hope you have a great day!

          • Art says

I also support developing a booster. I have 3 bars at most and usually only one or two. A booster would be a welcome addition.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for posting, Art. I’ve forwarded your suggestion on to our product development team. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us today!

          • Karile says

I also get terrible reception in our apartment. We are former ATT customers, and have a microcell. I was hoping it would work with CC, but it hasn’t. Any suggestions on how to improve reception in our apartment?

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Karile. We’re sorry to hear that you are experiencing poor reception inside your building. There are many factors that can affect your reception, including building materials. I’ve taken a look at your area, and you have good coverage surrounding your home, but we would be happy to take a look at your device to see if we can adjust some settings. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll be happy to work with you on this. Thank you for taking the time to post today!

          • Scott says

I have used a boaster antenna made by Wilson Electronics. Worked great. Went from weak signal to full signal. Works with all carriers.

        • Anne says

I agree with Allen and Debbie. I also at times use more data than texts and to be able to customize those areas to what you need would be fantastic. I love being in control of my bill and being able to customize to my usage when it fluctuates. Thank you for making it easy to do so.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Anne! We appreciate the feedback, and that you’re enjoying our flexible plans. Thanks for taking the time to reach out!

        • Mike says

It took a long time for phone companies to roll over minutes. Some don’t.
Why not lead the pack and roll data and minutes over and stop avoiding the subject by repeating that plan can be changed.
It is not always convenient to change plans. e.g each year I do not use the service for about 4 months (check my bills) and I wish to keep my number for when I return. I’m never fully successful. If I could simply suspend service temporarily would help

      • kevin pullen says

4gbs is just not enuff for me I have used 5gbs so far this month would be nice if consumer cellular wood offer more then just 4gbs

        • Byung Chung says

How about carrying over of unused data on ti next month instead of exiring

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the suggestion, Byung. We understand that customers may have some unused data at the end of the month, but with our flexible plans, you can always change your plan until the last day of your billing cycle. That way you can pay only for the data you need. We enjoy hearing feedback about our plans, and I’ve forwarded your comments on to our management team. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us, we truly appreciate it.

          • Dale M. says

Like Byung, I would also like to see unused data rolled over to the next month. Some months I use hardly any data, then the following month I might use more than contracted. Having the rolled over unused data, like AT&T is now doing, would be nice as one has already paid for that data.

        • Michael Frazier says

If you have the 4GB plan, then usage in excess of 4GB is billed at a rate of 1.5 cents per MB(or 5% less than that if there is an AARP discount). You pay only for what you use in excess.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That is correct, Michael. We also alert our customers to any potential overages with our Usage Alerts, so customers have the ability to move up or down a plan up until the last date of the billing cycle. Thank you for the post!

    • PAULA says

I must have been misinformed as I thought Consumer Cellular was suppose to have the best plans for the $. Virgin Mobil has you them beat with their plan of unlimited which includes TALK TIME, TEXT, & INTERNET

      • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to post, Paula. We find that we can save our customers money by giving them the ability to change their plan at any time. That way, they never pay for more than they need. We understand that we may not be the best choice for everyone, but we appreciate the feedback. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

      • Sue says

I was with Virgin Mobile before CC. Terribly frustrating trying to get a human being on the phone.

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re always happy to provide personalized support, Sue. We’re happy to have you as a customer!

  2. brent mancini says

Great move to increase usage and text/data numbers! You might consider eliminating extra charges and taxes that various companies are doing now. I.e. Cricket and others. CC is doing a great job.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for those kind words, Brent. We appreciate hearing suggestions and feedback from customers, and I’ve passed your recommendations on to our management team. Thanks again for commenting!

    • Joseph says

When I signed up so I can sign in now it said even greater news. I will be getting more for less money per month but its still the same. $15 for talk and $5 for data plus tax of @ $ 5. Can we do something with all other tstrs and taxes and carryover. I’m new to CD and very happy but I’m seeing other co like metro PCs offering one low price for everything. Ty for your time.

  3. Ann Trueblood says

Enhanced talk, text, and data! Love it! Thank you, Consumer Cellular!

  4. Jack L. says

Another move in the right direction for Consumer Cellular. I am very happy with the service. I should mention the fantastic customer support, too. However, you lost me on the claim about the Family Share Plan that “you can call each other for free – even with our unlimited plan.” Is that really an advantage? Aren’t any and ALL calls “free” after I pay $50 for the Unlimited Plan? That would make more sense if it were “you can call each other for free – even with our Billed Per Use plan.” Maybe your editor should pay more attention.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the feedback, Jack. To clarify, all calls made between lines on our Family Share Plans are free regardless of the plan minutes. We appreciate the feedback, and thank you for taking the time to comment. Have a good evening!

      • Nate G. says

I think what Jack is saying is that the wording is awkward. I also did a double take on that phrase. The phrase is essentially saying “With the unlimited plan all calls are free, even the free ones!”

      • Roni says

Love the new data limits – my daughter has been trying to talk me into changing plans so she can have more data … I like the reception I get with Consumer Cellular. Sometimes customer service is good, sometimes not so much …

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re glad to hear you like the new plans, Roni, and we also appreciate the feedback about our customer service. Thank you for reaching out to us!

      • Frank says

I think the use of your term “free” is really misleading. Under the monthly summary on my bill I see Free Voice Minutes, Free Messages and Free Wireless Web Megabytes. According to your definition these should be calls or messages between family members. However these are the minutes, messages and megabytes that I am paying for under my plan. They are not “free”, because they are what I am paying for under my selected plan. Can you label them on the bill as something else, like plan covered minutes/messages/data or plan included minutes/messages/data, etc. rather than “free”?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We apologize for any confusion, Frank. I’ve forwarded your feedback onto our billing department, and we appreciate you taking the time to comment. If you ever have any questions about your bill, we are available at 888-345-5509. Thank you again for your time!

          • Chris says

I was surprised and glad to find out that Consumer Cellular had upgraded plans with more available text, talk and data with no additional cost. Rolling over unused data would be a good step.

    • Alise says

I’m so glad Jack mentioned the “oops”. Your customer service is exceptional!!!***** 5 stars for sure. It is so good to see a company that realizes this is the core to any business and offsets you from many other companies let alone your competitors. Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile should learn from THE BEST CONSUMER CELLULAR. No matter how much they grow, its all about the customer in every aspect. Sprint especially cares about themselves. They don’t value their customers nor their employees. These constant layoffs I will never support. Give up already. When you have a company like CC around, you competitors are sunk. I blab everywhere I go about CC. Love what you’re doing. We the people…for the people!!!

  5. Sam Merrell says

    That’s GREAT!!
Anything for international calling and/or texting, in the future.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Sam. We currently offer affordable international calling rates; you can view them at ConsumerCellular.com/Int. We’re also available to help you over the phone at 888-345-5509 if you have any questions. Have a wonderful day!

    • Dee says

Just use Whatsapp, Viber or Skype for international calls.

  6. greg sater says

Thanks for the additional talk, text and data. I have and will continue to recruit new customers.

  7. Lawrence Bond says

Thanks so much now I can give data back to my grandkids and not worry about running over. THANKS CC YOU GUYS ROCK!!

  8. Hubert Veillion says

Ya’ll just keep getting better and better. Infact ya’ll are just eat up with GREAT !!

  9. Dan O'Leary says

Very nice. I got tired and frustrated of using most of my data for app updating. I’ve recommended this cell phone company to my kids because of the outstanding rates and service. They all have Verizon but are considering a switch. Again, very nice and Thank you.

    • Pat Corirossi says

Dan, just a recommendation from another Consumer Cellular customer…if you use your wifi service to update your apps, you won’t use up your data plan.

      • Jan McRae says

What are the setting in order to be sure that happens?
I only turn on my “data” when I need it…..why wouldn’t an app that’s ready to “update”, just start updating when I turn on the data…..or how would I tell it to only update when I’m home, using my wi-fi?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Jan. If you keep Wi-Fi turned on, your phone will be able to perform the app updates without using any data. We can help you with this, just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll walk you through it. Thanks!

          • Johanna says

You should also make sure to tell customers to not only turn on their Wifi to do their updates (if that’s what their desiring to use), but to also make sure the ‘mobile data’ setting is turned off. My daughter received her Motorola Moto G Ext and made sure the Wifi setting was turned on, since she’s home most of the time. What she didn’t realize was that there were apps running in the background using her data (on a minimum data plan). She used all her data and then some in just a few days!! We were not aware of this until I called customer service to inquire about the overage charges. It might not be the same with every phone you offer, but that’s how it appears to be with the Motorola Moto G. This kind of information would be extremely helpful to customer switching over from plans like the Unlimited Everything plan from another carrier, where apps running in the background were never given consideration, 🙂 That being said we love having CC as our new carrier.

          • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you so much for your comments, Johanna. We appreciate you sharing your experience, and we’re glad you have been able to resolve the data issue. I’ve forwarded your comments on to our customer service team. Getting valuable feedback from our customers is always appreciated! We hope you have a wonderful day, and thank you again for reaching out to us.

      • Alan says

That is true but if you are always on the go you don’t always have access to Wi-Fi for updates

    • Corryne D. says

Dan, I don’t know what kind of phone you have but usually there are ways to set them so they don’t update using data, only wifi. Also, you can set your app store settings so apps won’t automatically update, then you can update them manually when they notify you. Consumer Cellular customer service is so knowledgeable about all kinds of phones so they can probably walk you through the steps. Hope that helps.
BTW I love this company more all the time! Usually it doesn’t take much time to find fault with a company, but CC is the only exception I’ve encountered. Hope CC keeps up everything it’s done so it will stay great! Thanks, CC!!

      • Betty T says

My phone is a BLU. I set it to update apps only on my WiFi. The problem with that is if you are needing to use your WiFi for something else, the app update will always take precedence and nothing I can do until all are updated. But….. such a small problem. CC is awesome. We have three household member and will soon add a fourth. Kudos to CC for courteous service by staff of humans I can understand.

  10. Donna Lenz says

I was checking my usage today – and found the increases in my plan. What a great and appreciated surprise! You’ve been the best cell provider I’ve used – heads above AT&T – and you just keep getting better. Your Staff goes above and beyond and are always a pleasure.

Thank You for proving there are still Companies who care about their customers.

  11. Jim Moody says

I really appreciate the service you provide. What a nice surprise to see this new offering. It has saved me $10 this month and it does not go unnoticed. When I ride my bike by your Redmond, Oregon facility on occasion, I smile and feel grateful that I am connected with CC. Great company, wonderful service.

  12. john angerman says

i swich from at&t your company is great people are helpful polite and prices are great i will be a long time customer i tell all my friends about your co.

  13. Max Hatch says

You promote having easy entry to smart phones with 2 of your phones. I purchased one and everything went fine with registration, etc. but after that, I was left on my own. I have very poor eyesight and trying to read the microscopic fonts and pictures in the little instruction manual is nearly impossible. I think I will be able to use the phone once I learn how, but that is questionable right now. I would also have liked a better explanation of the internet and data options and uses. I had high hopes that I could replace my flip phone with this smart phone, but I am now having my doubts.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry for any frustration with your phone, Max. We’re here to help you every step of the way. Our How-To videos can help you learn to use your phone while you follow along, and you can pause or re-watch any segments until you feel comfortable. Our customer support team can also assist you in learning any feature or answering any questions. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we can answer those questions about data and internet usage. You’ll be a smartphone expert in no time at all!

  14. Max Hatch says

My reply is the statement above, with the addition that I was not notified I needed a password to enter my account, which I did not do.

    • Carolyn B. says

I had been using a flip-phone for years and just bought a smart phone. I had trouble at first, but it helped me very much watching the videos step by step following the steps with my phone.

Also customer service was very helpful as well. I am learning how to use my smartphone and enjoying it and so far very pleased with Consumer Cellular!

      • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so glad you are enjoying your new phone, Carolyn. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to help. Thank you!

  15. StanT says

Consumer Cellular out does itself again! By giving its customers even more value for every dollar spent. Savings and value are certainly the hallmark of this company; add to that the convenient payment options, quality phones and superior customer service, this is the company to be with. Thank you Consumer Cellular!!

  16. ken ward says

“WOW” THANK YOU, WAY TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Mandi Haskins says

Thank you for this great change! I am on a limited income so this helps tremendously. The phones and the service are great, too.Thank you again!

  18. John Gott says

Thank you! thank you! and thank you! It is absolutely so cool to deal with a company that is upfront, honest and looking out for their customers. Thanks for the extra minutes, text without raising rates. We will continue to be ambassadors for Consumer Cellular.

  19. Gordon Lahrson says

    HI,
I have only been a customer about 10 days, but from whatI see this is a very well run company!
Your new rates for Minutes, Data and Text are from what I can see the best buy out there. I am sure glad that saw your TV ad for Consumer Cellular, other wise I would probable still be will AT&T Cell, and paying much more in $.

  20. Bobby J Lyons says

Thanks for the free additional minutes and add’l text and data. I was thinking about increasing both. I felt that I needed a few more minutes to be comfortable (not 1200) but just a few more than the 600 that I had. The increase to 750 was perfect
The fact that it didn’t cost more money was just a bonus. It was the exact same for the text/data. When I saw the changes IT MADE MY DAY!!!

  21. Larry Diehl says

Thank you for the increase in minutes, texts, and data. As seniors my wife and I appreciate you! Consumer Cellular simply the best!

  22. Jerry Keath says

I have my whole family on Consumer Cellular and I seriously doubt that I will ever go back to any other company. You have exceeded my expectations.

  23. AJD says

I’m happy for the improvements, but disappointed to see you raised the overage data rate to 25¢ per MB for all but the most expensive plan.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting! We do our best to make sure our customers never have overages, which is why we provide our Usage Alerts and we allow you to change your plan as often as you need. We find that this helps our customers select plans that fit their usage needs without paying more than they need to. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us.

      • Shane says

I doubt that very much, that’s how y’all make your money…mean I’ve must’ve read over 20 to 30 consumers complaing about not having enough data, I mean its bad enough that y’all are trying to act like you’re giving people a deal..I mean you have to pay for each service separately? I mean how much of a deal is it ? Even straight talk is $45 (that’s only 5 more dollars than you’re ridiculous plan) and there plan is …now take notes people…Unlimited talk AND text with 5 gigs of data and if you run over it just slows a little….they don’t charge you extra…and it comes with all the extras as in caller id,voicemail,etc.. I mean who’s really giving a better deal here….I don’t see how everyone is so blind to see this….and the only reply is the same one every time about how you can switch your plan….ha! If y’all would just get on the bandwagon instead of wording things so the less sophisticated people think they are making out….lol scam artists is what I’m seeing from all of this

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate your feedback, Shane. We know that our service isn’t the best fit for everyone, particularly those who require a great deal of data. Most of our customers find the value in being able to change their plans, especially if they only need a small number of minutes or text messages. Most lower-use customers save up to 50% compared to a plan with another carrier. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, and we hope you have a great day!

  24. R terry says

Best phone Co on the market.

  25. Richard Tumidajski says

I was checking my usage today and noticed that voice, text, and data has been increased..
    Huh???

  26. william tyndall says

how do you text and receive text

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for asking, William. The first step is to make sure you have one of our text and data plans. Then you should be able to use the messaging function on your phone. If you need assistance, just call us at 888-345-5509. We can walk you through it step-by-step, and you’ll be texting in no time. Thank you!

  27. larry says

That is great! Thank you so much!

  28. James & Brenda Wasden says

You are the most amazing company to do business with! We are so thankful that we dropped Sprint to come with Consumer Cellular. We had to pay them to get out of their contract but we have benefited more by doing that and doing business with you. You are the most honest and customer oriented cell phone company in the US. Your customer service employees are a pleasure to talk with. The only complaint I have is that everyone I know does not change to Consumer Cellular.

  29. William S. says

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!! I knew I made the right decision switching to Consumer Cellular from Sprint. Thanks for enhancing my plan and keeping it at the same price! Consumer Cellular is the cat’s pajamas!!

  30. James L. Scot says

I just want to tell you all that you are a real “class act”!
I have never dealt with such a wonderful cellular company, and I plan to stay with you for a long time. I brag about you all the time!
Thanks for the wonderful customer service and relations.
    Jim

  31. Vu says

I’m glad of the more value but I’d there any plan in the future that allows unlimited data? Please let me know ASAP!

    Thanks Vu

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate the question, Vu. At this time, we do not offer an unlimited data plan. Thank you!

  32. David Munger says

I looked at my usage on the 1st and thought my minutes rolled over now. Came to find out that we all now get more minutes and data for the same price and there’s no catch involved. Glad to see ONE carrier did something good for consumers which is refreshing to say the least.

  33. ann heffner says

Thank you, so much! Now I don’t have to hear “Get off the phone, you’re using all the minutes up”, from my husband. Nice not to worry about that.

  34. veronica says

THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!! I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!

This is fabulous. As a recent new customer, this is a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. I’m several years with my old provider, the only surprises I received was reduction in minutes and/or a price increase. Thank you Consumer Cellular!!!!!

  36. ronald northrup says

for 7 or 8 years i have found no better cell phone service thank you consumer cellular i am devoted to you!!!

  37. John Metcalf says

I really feel Consumer Cellular is doing all within their power to give the consumer a quality service at a fair price. I switched from Verizon Wireless to find Consumer Cellular a much better value. Verizon always wanted payment when your billing cycle started whereas CC bills you after the month has passed. If you changed plans within the month, Verizon penalized you. CC allows you change up to the last hour before you billing cycle ends to save you if you haven’t used as many minutes as you expected in your plan choice. In other words they are flexible to suit your usage needs. The new plan starting March 1 that offers you up to 4 GB of Data will likely bring many more subscribers. Also, thank you CC for having such courteous people for Technical Support. That is certainly a plus. And unlike some other wireless providers, they speak English like an American.

  38. Sharon Taylor says

Thanks, John! I love the increases!

  39. Vicky Rodriguez says

BEST cellular company EVER !! Thank you once again!!

  40. James L Schulte says

I would like to be enrolled in the new 4GB unlimited data plan. Thank you

    Jim Schulte

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, James. You can change your plan online through My Account, using our app or over the phone at 888-345-5509. We’ll be happy to get that taken care of for you!

  41. patricia hillegass says

Thank you so much, we are a fairly new customer. We have expressed to our family and friends the great service you provide. This new increase of service without a rate increase is going to be the major topic in my next text messages. Thank you again.

  42. Joe Muschar says

What a wonderful company! Where else can you get more services without an additional charge?
    Keep up the good work.

  43. Gary Nordquist says

Wow!!! Thanks for all you do, what a great company.

  44. David Roessler Jr says

We couldn’t be happier with our plan, pricing and service.
After over 20 years of having cell phones with one of the big carriers, it is such a great thing to finally feel like we are getting what we are paying for. Without paying for stuff we don’t use, and don’t want to pay for!
Now, with the second increase in minutes and data within a year – AWESOME!
No way we would ever leave you with this kind of great service.

  45. Jackie says

Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You again, for adding more talk and text to the existing plan and not raising the price. I found myself always checking and changing my plan right to the last 24 hrs of the billing cycle. I don’t think i will have to be changing my plan 2-3 times before the end of the billing cycle now. You have added just enough to cover that last few minutes and text.
    Keep Up The Good Work!

  46. Ernest May says

Wow, I have been a customer for less then a month and looking forward to getting my wife a new Moto G EXT phone as soon her tracphone runs out of minutes, Thank you Consumer Cellular

  47. Rickey Black says

    I LIKE IT

  48. Al says

This is certainly a great addition to you service, and we appreciate it.
Something to consider, is that since we are paying for a certain amount of minutes, texts, and data, each month, we should be allowed too rollover any unused portion of what we have already paid for carried over into the next month if we did not use it in the current billing cycle.

    Thank you
    Al

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the feedback, Al. We offer flexible plans that you can change at any time, that way you only pay for what you need. Many carriers who offer rollover minutes and data don’t allow for this type of flexibility. If we can help you adjust your plan, just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can help. Thank you for commenting!

  49. Gladys Burke says

I can’t believe how helpful you have been for all the seniors. It’s very hard to afford a cell phone. Thank you again, and may God bless you.

  50. Dorian says

I am thankful for the updated plans. I like having a plan with limits but I also enjoy having a low monthly bill. Way to go, Consumer Cellular! I am planning to stay a long time. Keep the updates coming. I love to be rewarded by my cellular company.

  51. Mike Hunter says

As a seasonal US visitor, I am amazed by the value you provide. If you were able to bring your plans to Canada, you would clean up. More minutes and data than any Canadian wireless provider.
I will willingly pay your small monthly fee to keep my lines active while I am home for the spring and summer months!

  52. Shirley and Larry McGee says

Thank you so much for the extra minutes at no extra charge. We greatly appreciate it.

  53. Ruth Nager says

I would like to change my voice talk changed to 1500 for same price as 1200. Also because most of time, I use WiFi, my data plan can change to 150mb for 5 dollars less. Thank you. Do I have to call to have this changed or is this sufficient.? Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

You don’t have to do a thing, Ruth. The changes have already been made to your account. Have a great day!

  54. Bryan Singleton says

Love your new rates plans. That is why I stick with Consumer Cellular. Thanks for the great service.

  55. howard shay says

you guys are awesome. Now could you partner with Verizon so our coverage would be adequate?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you, Howard. If you are experiencing coverage issues, we can take a look at your account and make some adjustments that may help. Can you call us at 888-345-5509? We’d appreciate it!

  56. Judy Sanders says

When will you have special sales on your phones? Looking for one of the Androids.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for your comment, Judy. The best way to find out if one of our phones is on special is to give us a call at 888-345-5509. We often have carrier return options that may be more affordable as well. Thank you commenting!

  57. Rebecca L. Flournoy says

Thank you so much, and congratulations on a terrific service. Kudos to Consumer Cellular!

  58. Herb M says

While discussing with our daughter how Consumer Cellular’s plans compared very favorably with other plans out there, we were surprised to see that the minutes and text/data usage limits had increased for the same price virtually while we were comparing plans! What was already beneficial became even more beneficial right before our eyes while we were researching and discussing the options! Thank you for once again making our day!

  59. Ray Beard says

I am considering moving over to cricket because they are offering unlimited texts and messages and 2.5 gb data for the cost of $70 which includes all taxes and fees for two telephones there is no sharing between phones each gets his own data and unlimited numbers and messages that would be a $10 per month savings for me over my present Consumer Cellular phone bill since both services are on AT&T towers I would assume that the service will be equal in quality.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Ray. While we offer a variety of plans at many pricing levels, we know our service may not be the best fit for everyone. Most of our customers are able to save money by adjusting their plans to fit their needs each month so they only pay for what they need. Thanks again for the feedback!

  60. Sue says

    Thank You!

  61. Annie Seay says

What a pleasant surprise to just learn of the increased talk minutes and text messages at no price increase! Being a senior citizen, it is most gratifying when I receive such a wonderful GIFT. THANK YOU SO MUCH. JUST LOVE MY DORO 618 FLIP PHONE AND BRAG TO MY FRIENDS ALL THE TIME THAT I HAVE JUST WHAT I NEED AT THE LOW MONTHLY RATE. JUST CAN’T BEAT THIS DEAL WITH A STICK.

  62. Barry Duplantis says

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

It is definitely true, Barry. We’d be happy to take a look at your invoice and address any issues. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for reaching out to us!

  63. Kris Bertelson-Williams says

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

You’re welcome, Barry! If you ever have any questions about your invoice, please don’t hesitate to call us at 888-345-5509. Thanks again!

  65. Theresa Simmons says

  67. Tom Iverson says

W O W ! Another ‘no charge’ increase in benefits from Consumer Cellular! That is amazing. You know, I have dealt with a lot of small, medium and large businesses in my almost 70 years, and I have to tell you Consumer Cellular is outstanding. You have ONE great company. Keep up the good work. It is much appreciated. I will continue to tell my friends and relatives about why they should join the best cellular company in America….Consumer Cellular. Thank You.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for that glowing review, Tom! We always feel that we’re doing a good job when customers like you recommend us to others. When you refer a friend, you both get a $10 referral credit on your account as our way of “saying thank you”. You can learn more at ConsumerCellular.com/Referral. Thank you again for the comment!

  72. Richard Farthing says

Excellent! I am a new customer and am extremely pleased with the overall service I have received, and with this exciting news I know I made a good move. I was with my previous cellphone company for 13 years and they didn’t even ask me why I was leaving them? The fact is the quality of their phone service had degraded instead of improve. Keep up with your excellent customer service and the quality delivery you now provide and you will prosper. I will recommend you!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you so much, Richard. It is a fine compliment to be recommended to others, so we very much appreciate it! And please remember, when you refer a friend, you both get a $10 referral credit on your account. You can learn more at ConsumerCellular.com/Referral. Thank you again for commenting!

You’re welcome, George! We hope you enjoy the extra data, and we work to add value to our plans as often as we can. If there are any plan changes in the future, we will be sure to let you know. Thank you for the comment!

  74. Leslie says

Do your minutes roll over from month to month?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Leslie. Our minutes do not roll over from month to month, but with our no-contract plans, you can change your plan as often as you need so you never have to worry about running out of minutes. If you have any questions about our plans, feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509. Our customer support team will be happy to help. Thank you!

  75. paul N says

You people really amaze me. It has been a rewarding experience being a customer. Keep up the good work

  76. Clifton Ray Fore says

Thank you, Consumer Cellular. Best cell phone company around. With great rates/plans for the best possible savings. We really do just pay for what we use. Now that’s saving money!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We love hearing from our customers who are saving money! Thank you for the comment!

  77. Jan Koreska says

text status bar is misleading – shows alert RED for 13 msg out of new UNLIMITED
on web page shows UNLIMITED in DARK green as “what we know you have used”

I understand it’s cosmetic only, but I frequently check status using my cell app and freaked when I saw solid RED text usage !

however, I continue to appreciate your service and great pricing plans – thank you !

    Jan

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you, Jan. I’ve forwarded your feedback to our development team. Rest assured, you do have as many text messages as you need!

  78. Larry Smith says

  82. Steve S. says

You guys rock! I need to check out your family plan.

  83. John Limpus says

Checked our usage last night on my MOTO G. Thought their was something wrong with my
phone -> telling me I had 1500 minutes rather than 1200. Just read Mr Marick’s blog and WOW
this is impressive. So glad we switched back in October. Thank You.

  84. Kat says

I just don’t see why more people don’t switch to you, other than some coverage areas. I’m able to drive the 5+hours to SLC, listening to Pandora on my phone the whole way, using up data, and I’ve still never managed to go over!
Of course, at home, I just stay connected to my wifi, and make sure I use the wifi where ever I go.
    #freetip

  85. Alec E. Ecobichon says

I have had your service for approximately 5 months. A few weeks ago I purchased an IPhone for my wife and added her to the plan. I am paying for it on the easy pay plan which I find very convenient. My wife and I are retired and on the AARP discount plan and I really appreciate the reduced costs. Now you are increasing the phone and data plans without additional cost. What could be better! I do not normally recommend services to my friends and relatives but, in the case of Consumer Cellular I have strongly recommended your service when the subject arises. Keep up the good work and service as I am sure you are building loyal customer support.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re glad to hear that you and your wife are enjoying your new phones and service with us. It’s our goal to always exceed your expectations and to provide the best value for our customers. Thank you for recommending us to your friends and relatives—there is no finer compliment! We appreciate that you took the time to comment and share your experience with us!

  86. Joseph Bollo says

The phones and plans meet all our needs for the package we chose. To select the next plan is good for us when needed. Thanks

  87. Yvonne K. Porter says

Thank you for added usage! What a nice surprise. I have been so pleased with your service and now this–wow.

  88. Liz says

I’ve been very careful not to go over my plan minutes and data only to find out that my plan has changed!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you. What a nice surprise. 🙂

  89. Suzanne Leduc says

Thank you for all your new services at no extra cost, that does not happen in today’s world. Thank you and God Bless.

  93. J Ennis says

I remember my skepticism when I first signed up with Consumer Cellular. I didn’t believe CC would live up to their promises but figured I would give it a try. I can’t express how happy I am I did. I have found that CC is the best company I have ever dealt with bar none. Best customer service service and they have increased my text, data and phone minutes several times without increasing the price. Why anyone would not love this company is beyond me.Thanks guys,

  94. Bii Dugan says

What a pleasant company to work with. I tell all my friends & family what a great
deal we had & now it’s even better. I recommend you to everyone I know. Thanks again for being here for us!+!

  95. Patrick says

Good job guys! Thanks a lot for adding minutes, text and data at the same price.

    Thanks again.

  96. Carlos C says

Thank you, it was a pleasant surprise!. I was considering making some changes but now I feel I am getting a good deal and excellent service. I wonder if in the future you can consider adding more data in exchange for minutes/texts.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for those kind words and the suggestion, Carlos. I’ve forwarded it on to our management team. Thanks!

  97. Annette Mendonsa says

Another increase in our voice/text/data plans!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU AGAIN!!! We love Consumer Cellular!!! 🙂

  98. Tony says

Like many others here, I have to say that I’m blown away with the service you guys offer. I’m a college student and work part-time, so value is practically a necessity in my life right now. Not only am I able to afford a plan that allows me all the time to text/call that I want, but I’m able to afford it at less than half of what most people I know pay. I’ve recommended you to all of my friends and family when the topic of who’s paying what for their phone bill comes up, and they’re planning to look into you guys as soon as their contracts expire.

Planning to stick with you guys for many years to come; thank you lovely people so much for all you do!

  99. Bob F says

Thanks for the great service, improved plans, and fantastic customer service!

  100. Mike Garcia says

What a pleasant surprise. With the state of today’s economy, it is wonderful to have Consumer Cellular on our side…and thank you for being associated with AARP, we greatly appreciate the discount you provide. Thanks again…you’re awesome!! 🙂

  101. Gary Popkowski says

Thanks for the talk and data increase. We tell everyone we meet about your great service. Believe me, seniors really love the service very affordable when other things are rising fast. Thank you

  102. Thanks for the free xtras!!! I'm wicked surprised! says

    Much appreciated.

  103. Steven says

Is it true that you raised the data overage cost on the $30 plan from 1.5¢/MB to 23.75¢/MB?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the question, Steven. Additional use for web data is $0.25 per MB for all but the largest plan. With our flexible plans, we recommend that customers move to the next highest plan for months when they need more data so that they can avoid any overage charges. And you can change your plan up until the last day of the billing cycle! Thank you again for commenting!

  104. phyllis mason says

wish there was more set up info for new cell phone users

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate the feedback, Phyllis. Have you had a chance to try our How-To videos? Many of our customers find those to be helpful as they can follow along with their phone. If you ever have any questions about using your phone, just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll walk you through step-by-step. Thank you!

  105. Judy says

Thank you so much for adding to our plans with the same cost. You are really a great company and I have enjoyed and will continue to use your services.

    Glad to be a Customer!

  106. Armando says

More phone usage without a price increase! Another reason to stay with Consumer Cellular. Glad I switched to you guys. More Companies should take and learn from your approach. Thanks.

  107. Chase S says

How unusual that a cell phone company offers improved minute, text and data plans for no additional cost! Consumer Cellular’s pricing and service are the best!

  108. Bill Salter says

Recent convert to Consumer Cellular. You guys cover all my mobile phone needs here in the mountains of Tennessee. Thank you for the great service and for the bonus minutes, text and data.

  110. Mavis Juniper says

I logged onto my account to change my connect plan and thought there must be a mistake when I saw I had more minutes and connect time. What a pleasant surprise to see that the plans had been improved at the same low price. Thanks for your services.

  111. Barbara says

THANK YOU! It is a pleasure doing business with Consumer Cellular. We have been cell phone users since they first came out, and we have had service with some of the big guys, but not one of them comes close to comparing with CC. We love our service!!!!!!

  112. Carolyn Uhlig says

WOW! What a nice surprise when I looked at my Usage Summary today! At first when I saw the Messages usage in red, I thought I had gone over and it shocked me because I have never gone over before. I got on the Consumer Cellular website and first noticed the new website changes and went through the tutorial. I continued on to check my plan details again and was so surprised and happy to see that our available voice minutes went up and that my available text message went to unlimited! Then I understood what was going on! A huge thank you to Consumer Cellular! We knew when we changed to Consumer Cellular we were doing the right thing and now we couldn’t more happier! Thank You!

  113. David Burley says

YAY!!! You’ve done it again. More is better, for the same price, Thank you for being a Service company. Comcast could learn a lot from you about keeping customers happy. We actually tell our friends to switch to CC. How rare is that in the world of utilities.
With the new Connect plans, it would sure be nice if we could configure our smartphones to be mobile hotspots. The phones have the capability and sometimes us geezers would be helped by being able to use a larger screen by sharing the connection with the IPad.

    Thanks Again!

  114. Josephine Wilson says

My husband and I are relatively new to Consumer Cellular. We were with another plan that required a renewal contract every two years. The service got progressively more expensive with each renewed plan. With both of us recently retiring, we began to shop around for another phone service that offered great care, excellent customer service with no phone contract. We are so pleased with you as our service provider and have already recommended Consumer Cellular to several of our friends who were also looking for great service and value but no more contracts. Now you have overwhelmed us by adding additional talk minutes, text and data without increasing the cost of our plan as your gift to us. This is simply unheard of in today’s business world! Thank you very much! We shall continue to rave about your great service and generous gift to all of our friends.

  115. Sandra Cramer says

Very much appreciate the surprise increase of service value for minutes, texts and data! Wish you would also allow the unused data allowance each month to accumulate to a person’s account like some of the other carriers have started to do. Thanks for considering it!

  116. Marie Cherichella says

this is the best company ever. I am not sure why everyone is not using it. Great helpful people

  117. Joanne Olivieri says

Consumer Cellular you are absolutely amazing. Thank you so much. I am new to your service and came from AT&T about a month ago and I am ecstatic over the service I have received from you and absolutely love my new phone which I refer to as my “mini computer.” To just automatically give your customers more talk, text and data without any additional cost says so much about your company. You are second to none and a top notch company. I sincerely thank you and will definitely be promoting your services.

  118. Donna Musgrove says

How awesome! Thank you! Just when I thought your company/plans/prices couldn’t get any better for me – well….you did it again! Thank you for the new plans and also, thank you for having the best customer service department I’ve ever dealt with in a cell phone provider. We got my mother-in-law a CC phone for Christmas and when her “minutes” run out on her old service, she will be joining our plan. Also several other family members have expressed interest in CC. Keep up the good work!!!

  119. Louise McCallon says

What a pleasant surprise to see this! I was delighted to see that I was going to more data without the usual rate hike (like other providers). Thanks Consumer Cellular for putting the “customer” in customer service.

  120. greg cumberland says

thank you so very much I have had your service for over a year now and I’m very happy with the increase you’ve made to the plans. A GOOD THING HAS GOTTEN EVEN BETTER !!!!

  121. William Ater says

I was checking our usage on my phone when I noticed that we had more of everything for the same price. Very impressive. Thank You Consumer Cellular.

  122. Mike Diamond says

OMG I was so surprised . I had just upgraded my voice plan. And, now I’ve downgraded it….all with no charges/yearly commitments/nothing. So why are you so nice…..could be that you are a great company. That you realize the cost of losing a customer, the cost of getting new customers… Congratulations on being customer centered/focused/aware.

I am so impressed with my choice to leave ATT. No more 2 yr commitments. No more $$$$$$ monthly occurrences. What took me so long?

Two phones…..both for @ $40/month……you can not beat it…..I’ve only been with you 45 days….same coverage for Albany, NY area…..same phones we used before….free replacement sims….wifi works the same…everything works the same….now more minutes, messages, & data for free…..WOW You have to put this to market what a concept….:)

  123. Jerry says

Thank you Consumer Cellular for the extra talk and text at no extra charge. You have went beyond what I could have imagined. I am very pleased with your service. Thank you!

  124. Nancy Gowens says

My plan went from “adequate” to “AWESOME”. What a nice surprise after my first month of service. Thanks Consumer Cellular!

  125. Don Palmer says

I added myself under the family plan after being with another company for many years. I had to bump up my coverage after a month and now pleasantly surprised for the increase in all areas with no rate increase. Fantastic! I am also giving the tech department 5 stars all the way after working with them on deleting apps to stay under the data usage. I can now add some back on and don’t have to worry about the usage any more. A big “Thank You.”

  126. Maureen Nicastro says

I am so pleased that Consumer Cellular takes an interest in giving better value to its customers. I came back to CC after trying another plan and was sorry that I had changed. You have me for a long time.

  127. John Pilla says

I loved Consumer Cellular; However, unfortunately, my wife;s feature phone died, and the only option at the time was a basic phone, or the least expensive Smart Phone, the Moto-G at $150.00. Replacing three phones at that price was not affordable. Purchased the Boost Mobile same Moto-G at Best Buy for only $60.00 each and went with it to TING. It was hard and sad to leave Consumer Cell. One thing I like about TING is that they automatically raise and lower you into the next Tier. With Consumer Cellular, if my daughter used all the text, I did get a notification, and I had to manually log in and select the next tier. And, then the following month, I had to remember to login again and lower it back to the lower tier. With TING, they do that automatically. I know that the Boost Mobile Version of the Moto-G is not compatible with Consumer Cellular. If it were, and IF you went to an automatic Tier switching like TING, I would come back to Consumer Cellular in a heart beat. Loved your Customer Service. The best!

  128. Lisa Hunt says

thank you so much for the new monthly rates and great phone and internet service we checked our usage and loved the changes thanks again consumer cellular

  129. Prof59 says

    Thanks for the free upgrade!

  130. Clarence Zingg says

WOW this is the best service I have ever had .i was with the other (3) and they did not come close to the service that I get With Consumer Cellular Thank You Very much

  131. Sue Heintz says

Just keeps getting better. Thank you Consumer Cellular. I keep talking your service up!

  132. Foster Byrd says

This new service rate is fantastic….I have been a customer for around 6 months and have but one regret. That is not finding out about Consumer Cellular sooner.
I was with AT&T for years and found customer service declining while the bill was rising. Being on a fixed income, this current increase in product for the same amount of money by Consumer Cellular is a great and unheard of surprise in today’s business world. I was in advertising for around 20-plus years, and you have two of the most important advantages a business can possess: You make the customer feel comfortable and confident when dealing with your employees in customer service, and your product is one of great quality at a fair and competitive price.
    KEEP IT UP!!!

  133. Sarah Berner says

WOOOOWWWEEEEE!!! This is incredible. Your company is incredible. This is UNHEARD of in this day and age! Giving people more for the same price continually? Who are you people!?!??! : ) My hubby texted me this morning and said, I think we went over our texts or something is messed up because the indicator is red and it’s showing we have no available texts???? This was great news to be able to tell him! Thank YOU!

  134. Anita Bolger says

Thank you CC! I just was checking my usage for this month and saw the increase in time, text and data with no increase in cost! You are the best out there. I keep referring you to my friends!

  135. J.E. says

So why does the chart not agree with what I see on my bill?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question. Since we bill in arrears, these totals should be reflected on your next invoice. They have already gone into effect, so any minutes or data you are using now falls within the new plans. If you have any questions about your usage or billing, we will be happy to answer them for you at 888-345-5509. Thanks!

  136. Vicki Siczak says

You are awesome. I am staying with consumer celluar and recommending on blogs and social networks. Thank you so much…customer for life!

  137. Sharon Brooks says

Thanks so much for the extra time and data! I only have one small complaint. Since you have gotten more popular….wait times when calling customer service have lengthened considerably! It used to be very fast and easy to talk to a real person. Now, there is the dreaded long and drawn out listening to umpteen options before you are even on hold! Please consider hiring more people perhaps. Your customer service has always been something I bragged about to people. And still, when you do get a real person….last time it took me 20 minutes…they are always very nice and helpful! Just a suggestion that becoming more popular and ‘the best’ should not mean longer wait times!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate the feedback, Sharon. We recently increased the size of our Phoenix facility and we’re actively hiring more representatives to address this issue. Thank you so much for the kind words, I’ve passed them on to our customer support team. Thanks again!

  138. George (Deaf . . . no voice) says

I got confused with Usage Summer this morning, I was going to close my account til I checked with Usage Summer on website that offered so I am staying with CC… Good Deal ! ! !

  139. Melanie Allison says

What an awesome surprise… you are a wonderful company to deal with. Everything is so easy, cut and dry, no hidden or surprise fees. No other company offers the flexibility to change your plan whenever you desire. I wished I would have changed sooner. I will be recommending to all my family and friends!!! Thank you Consumer Cellular for everything!!!

  140. Daniel Martin says

I know you’re tired of hearing this, but you are the best! Can I buy stock in CC?

  141. Kathy Fermanich says

Consumer Cellular is the best!!! Thank you for all you do to make your service to your customers outstanding! 🙂

  142. Mike Williams says

These are great, but I have one small concern: The former “Data Max” customers were converted to the 3 GB Data plan, which now has a much higher overage cost, as opposed to the new 4 MB plan. This requires paying closer attention to data usage. Certainly not a show stopper, but something to watch more carefully.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for reaching out to us, Mike. We recommend that our customers use our Usage Alerts to monitor their data, which helps avoid any overages. Since our customers can change plans at any time up until the last day of the billing cycle, overages can be avoided by moving to a higher plan for that time period. We find that flexibility ensures our customers only pay for what they need. We’re glad you like the new plans, and thanks again for commenting!

  143. Jerry Isadore says

WOW!! MORE of everything for NO MORE Cost!! Thankyou Very much…..really do appreciate your thoughtfulness to the consumer (myself and ALL the others). Thanks again!!

  144. dick hackenberg says

Outstanding you guys are great ! No wonder you are the #1 cellular carrier

  145. Dean Thomas says

Thank you Consumer Cellular, you are the best out of the three services I have used. I don’t use a lot of what I have right now but know it is there when I need it. I have been a customer for about a year now and this is the second time you have given more minutes, texts, and data to my plan. Thank you so much for the care you have for your customers.

  146. Pat Hale says

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER will I ever change phone companies……so glad I found you! Consumer Cellular is Awesome!!!! You guys rock!!!!!

  147. James A. says

Nice surprise, THANK YOU Consumer Cellular, this really helps.

  148. Clyde Luther says

WOW !! Thanks Consumer Cellular. A better gift than my family got me for Christmas !!!
Any chance we will ever be able to use our voice and data minutes when traveling outside the US?
It would be great not to have to get a rent a phone to carry to Europe each year.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so glad you like the plans, Clyde. At this point, we only offer service in the U.S. but if that should change, we will let all of our customers know. If you ever have any questions about where your phone will have service, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’ll be happy to help!

  149. Paulette Joffrion says

    Yet another pleasant surprise!!
So glad we found and switched to Consumer Cellular!!

  150. Kevin Connolly says

CC is such a refreshing alternative to most companies! Thanks for making this change; it’s greatly appreciated and I imagine it will solidify and enhance your brand’s image. Bravo!

  151. Chris says

Your Coverage Map has now changed and does not include that same Roaming capabilities as it did before you Plan changes. I think you owe your customers and potential customers an explanation as to why the coverage Map has changed and the implications of this!
    Thank You

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for reaching out to us, Chris. Our coverage hasn’t changed as we still cover 97% of the country and we offer full roaming capabilities for those few areas in which our service isn’t available. However, please bear with us as we work to fix the coverage map on our site. I apologize for any confusion this may have caused. If you need any additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to call us at 888-345-5509. Thank you!

  152. JoAnn says

You deserve the rank of #1. Your service and prices cannot be matched. I do wish I could use my tablet, that takes a sim card, with your service though. For limited use when away from home. Any plans for that in the future?

Thanks for great service. So happy I left AT&T.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you, JoAnn. At this time, we don’t offer service for tablets, but if that changes in the future, we’ll be sure to let you know. We appreciate the suggestion! Thank you again for taking the time to comment.

  153. Robert Hersey says

Nice to know you are adding all these features yet shrinking your coverage area. I have a home here in Ellijay, Ga and for years have had great coverage. Now I get 5 bars and no service. “Emergency Service Only” it says. Customer service says “Oh must be a problem with cell tower!” Wife also has consumer cellular phone and service.. her phone works fine. So those of us who want a basic cellular phone like Doro 618 are denied basic phone service unless we want to upgrade to a much more expensive phone we don’t want, don’t need. I guess Consumer Cellular will lose another long term generally satisfied customer because they either can’t or won’t provide service. Great PR job to offer new enhancements and you can’t provide basic phone reception!!!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry that you’ve been experiencing some coverage issues, Robert. I see that you spoke to Troy, one of our representatives about this recently. If the tower issues weren’t resolved in that 24 hour period you discussed together, please give us a call. We’d like to try some troubleshooting to get this issue resolved for you. We’re available at 888-345-5509 and look forward to helping you. Thanks!

  154. Karen says

Thank you for giving back to your loyal customers. I have been with you for years and I remember the first time you gave us more minutes and data. I was shocked and thought this is a company that knows how to give excellent customer service and pays it forward. I am working on some people at the office and my sister and her son to change to Consumer Cellular. To me it’s a no “brainer”, especially when I hear the outrageous prices they pay and terrible coverage and service.
I think it’s because they think they are getting a deal by waiting to trade up for a newer phone. So they have a new phone, but their service is not good and they complain about their plan. Hopefully they will see the light. Again love your company. Keep on doing what you are doing!

  155. Tim and Joyce says

We read and said cool, this is just cool. Stuff like this just doesn’t happen. Thanks.

  156. Debra Williams says

Consumer Cellular, you are AWESOME! I signed my husband up with CC last year so he could have a cell phone for emergencies. He got such good service, that I paid to get out of my contract with Verizon so I could sign up with CC (and I will still save money for the year!).
I have not been disappointed! Now, you have gone above and beyond again by increasing our talk, text and data without increasing the prices. Your Customer Service people are great….very courteous, very helpful and very knowledgeable. I have and will continue to encourage people to sign up with CC. Thank you for caring about your customers!!!

  157. Wayne M says

Thank you for the increased data and call minutes!

One thing that would be helpful to me (and perhaps others) would be to separate data and text instead of having them on the same plan. You have minutes separate, why not separate text and data?

For example I may only use 200 texts a months, but might use 500MB of data. The 500MB data plan includes 3,000 texts so I feel like I am paying for something that I don’t use (extra 2,800 texts).

I am sure there are people that do lots of texting and maybe not much data that would benefit from this also, because they wouldn’t be paying for data they don’t use. Maybe they use 3,000 texts, but little or no data (because they are always on wifi) so they are paying extra for something they don’t get the benefit of.

So if I could purchase minutes, texts, and data separately I would say that Consumer Cellular would be just perfect! (you are nearly perfect now, the best I have found so far)

  158. Dan Terpak says

Great move, keep up the great work.

  159. Lee Inman says

You just keep on making it better! I cannot say enough about Consumer Cellular…the best cell service, prices, customer service, and now more the money, and no contracts. You are the best! Thank you so much.

  160. julian says

You say you are offering more but what you offer as unlimited talk, text and data cost $80.00 month and now the other carriers are at $50.00 month for the same thing. Sprite, T-Mobile even ATA are now lower. And that’s tax included
    So Im asking
    , how are you cheaper?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Julian. We offer a variety of plans that save many of our customers money, especially if their plan needs change often. With Consumer Cellular, you can change your plan at any time so you only pay for what you need. Our service may not be the best option for heavy data users, but we do offer an alternative for those who don’t want to be locked into the same rate each month. If there are any questions we can answer for you regarding our plans or service, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you again!

  161. Deb Y says

Thanks so much for the upgrades, at no extra cost, and the new 4G option at a very reasonable price. Having a teenager who lives on media feed, we were always going over our limit – but still the cost of overage was better than any other options out there! The cost savings will help defray any upgrade to a new phone – which I am sure is in the future. This gives me an extra reason to recommend CC to friends/family. Thanks again.

  162. Jim Heffernan says

Thanks for the additional data on my data plan. UNFORTUNATELY YOU DID NOT MENTION THAT THE OVERAGE RATE HAS INCREASED FROM $15/GB to $250/GB. I like Consumer Cellular, but I have far less trust now that I did previously. You automatically changed my plan and RAISED MY DATA OVERAGE rate by 1600 PERCENT, and didn’t even happen to mention it to me. This is NOT the kind of communications on which a trusting relationship is built.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry for any confusion, Jim. We did automatically increase your plan so that you received more minutes, text messages and data for the same price. Now that we offer a new 4GB plan, our customers can actually save money by changing to the next highest plan instead of paying for the overage fees. If we can address any issues or answer any questions for you, please give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for reaching out to us.

  163. John Robertson says

Very nice surprise and I see you guys have done this before, thank you! My old prepaid service I had for years never upgraded minutes or text. I’m so glad I made the switch after seeing a TV ad around Christmas. I currently have a few phones on CC and plan to add more sometime. I save so much money with CC and love the service. I would reccommend CC to everyone. One change I would like to see would be a swap out of the old 3G phones with the 4G models. I love the size and feel of my motorola EXT but really wish it was 4G. I thought about switching to the Huawei but I like the 5″ screen so I had no options. Could I have bought a 4G phone from any store and use it with CC?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, John. In most cases, you can use an unlocked, GSM phone with our SIM card with our service, so a 4G version could be used. In fact, our SIM cards are free, so they give our customers even more choices with our service. We can get one on the way to you, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We can also talk to you about phone options that other customers have used that work well with our service if you decide to start looking at some new options. Just let us know if you need anything!

  164. Bill Struwe says

Due to a recent untimely death in our family, my usage was certainly going over the 600 minutes that my plan has. When I checked my usage today I was pleasantly surprised to find my minutes increased to 750. I don’t believe in coincidence..In this age of increasingly poor service and increasingly higher prices, Consumer Cellular is a God sent! I have and will continue to refer new customers to your great company.

  165. Larry J. Petty says

“Great” move in the right direction. It’s going to get peoples’ attention because of the “Great” pricing. Thank you for meeting all our needs, however, I am concern about one problem. My wife also a Consumer Cellular customer, having her own account and we feel that we should be able to talk to each other on our Consumer Cellular accounts without using minutes regardless whether we’re on a family plan or not. I want to said one more thing. Your customer service representatives are wonderful. My wife and I found them very congenial, courteous, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and responsive to our every need, Again!!, “Thank you” Larry

  166. Diane Thornton says

I’ve been with CC for a little over a year now and have enjoyed everything about your service. For years I had wanted a smart phone but refused to pay those ridiculous prices charged by the other companies. Thank you for the affordable prices, the gift of increased plan time and the ability to increase or decrease services at anytime.

  167. Robert Bevan says

I’m super pleased that u guys upgraded the minutes&data plans with NO change in price for each plan.I’ve been a customer since Nov.2013 thanks for the great service.

  168. Kim Nelson says

This is a pleasant surprise! I recently switched to CC. I never had a free increase of service previously, just service cuts. I am happy to be a CC customer. Thanks!

  169. pedro says

    Thanks

  170. Eic Cody says

I was caught off guard when I saw the new voice, text and data allowances the first time I checked my usage during this new billing cycle. As a fairly new subscriber, I wasn’t aware that this is something Consumer Cellular routinely does. But given the totally different level of customer service I’ve been enjoying with you, somehow this seems consistent. Consumer Cellular finds new ways to create value for its customers. I’ve saved almost half of what I used to pay AT&T, your coverage is exactly what I need, and it’s been a pleasure dealing with your company. You also made my first smartphone affordable. As far as I’m concerned, CC is establishing new benchmarks in all these areas. You must be making your competition nervous. I’m thinking about investing in some Consumer Cellular shares.

  171. David Schaal says

So different from my last cell phone company. All the news from them was bad and hostile and all the news from you folks is beneficial and supportive. My only big gripe is that you wont allow me to tether my data to my tablet when I need it. If you allowed me to do this I would be one happy camper.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you, David. We do allow tethering support with our iPhone models, so please give us a call at 888-345-5509 if you would like us to assist you with that. Have a great day!

  172. Dawn says

Awesome phone company. Thank you for your services and not being money hungry like other companies!!!

  173. Roland says

I was with Sprint and had to pay a early termination fee to get out of the contract, then I was with Verizon and had to do the same thing to get out of them. I have been with Consumer Cellular, not that long but the service is amazing and I never in my wildest dreams thought I could afford a smart phone but Consumer Cellular made it possible and even the service I get at Apple is great because I bought the phone from CC. Keep up the fantastic work, CC. I’ll be here for a long time. Thank You again.

  174. Jack Crosley says

Consumer Cellular has been fantastic as far as cost and support. The ONLY service that I see lacking in this wonderful company is providing the use of a cellular iPad. I use a former AT&T iPhone 6 that works great, but for some reason my AT&T cellular iPad is not supported as of yet on your network. Hopefully down the road, this will be a provided service? Thx again…

  175. Deborah says

Great changes! My one suggestion is to unlink the text and data usage. I don’t text much, but now that I have my first smart phone, I am using more data than I ever thought I would. A straight “cafeteria” plan with the phone, text and data selections, would be great.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the suggestion, Deborah. I’ve passed it on to our management team, and we appreciate you taking the time to give us feedback. Thanks again!

    • Craig says

Yep, I agree with Deborah — and that seems like a running theme here — delink text and data; increase data plans significantly.

  176. Rick Smith says

What a nice surprise! Thank you for the updated plans. I never thought that I would actually like a phone company but you guys have changed my mind. I recently updated from a flip phone to a smart one and am so glad that I did. Thanks again.

  177. Ray Berryhill Sr says

Have only good things to say about Consumer cellular, now if only I could learn how to use this new Apple IPhone 5c

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the compliment, Ray! If you need some help getting to know your new phone, we are always available to help walk you through a feature or assist you otherwise. Just call us at 888-345-5509, and we’ll get you on your way to being an iPhone expert!

  178. Melissa says

I love the new options for consumer cellular! I have the IPhone 5c and the new unlimited text messaging and higher gb for the data plans is great! It is very affordable on a college student’s budget and I can adjust it as needed.

  179. joe says

to whom it way concern new member we happy with delivery of phone the only request is can not find video on motorola moto G EXT or any instruction like how to delete contact from favorite screen thanks regards joe

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so glad to have you as a customer, Joe. We have simple How-To videos covering a variety of functions of the Moto G EXT. You can view them on our Support Page here. And please remember, we’re always available if you need help at 888-345-5509. Thank you!

  180. Jonathan says

Take a great product with great service, make it better: fantastic!

  181. Poochie 55 says

Thank you for everything. These new rates will save us money and I believe offering unlimited plans will attract more, younger customers. I often refer people to Consumer Cellular but many times people are only using their cell phones having given up land lines to save money and they need unlimited service since the cell is their only phone. Now I can tell them you do offer unlimited. That will make a lot of people happy new customers.

  182. AMK says

What a pleasant surprise a few days ago when I found out that my data and talk plans have been enhanced with more minutes and more MBs, in addition to unlimited texts. You guys are terrific with great, friendly customer service. The best wireless company in the US or anywhere. Thank you.

  183. Heather trujillo says

This is so awesome and I like consumer cellular. I am pleased with the service

  184. Jean Kurniawan says

This is such awesome news!! I left Consumer Cellular because I thought I could get a better deal with another company (who’s initials are TF.) To be honest, it was somewhat cheaper, but every time I had to deal with customer service it was like trying to pull my own teeth out. It was horrible. So, I guess the adage that says “you get what you pay for” is completely true.
So glad to be back with a company that is responsive to my needs, actually takes care of those needs and I can understand what the reps are saying! IMAGINE THAT!!

  185. Miriam Martin says

Thanks!!! Very nice! I love your service, and this makes it so much better!

  186. steve johnson says

The enhancements to your plans are a welcome addition, but I wonder if the way things are with the incerasing use of smart phones to retrieve data that it might be even better to offer more date without increasing the voise and text. My wife and I personaly never use all our viose minutes or texts, but have to ration our data in fear of going over. I think possibly that many people that use there smart phones to go on line may be in the same situation.

  187. David Hand says

Consumer Cellular continues to impress me with its value, innovation and customer service. Thank you for doing what you do and for showing up your competitors.

  188. Cory Hass says

Awesome news ! Thanks a lot! If only our picture messaging worked consumer cellular would get a 10/10 in my book. Still better than any other cell phone company I’ve used before though!!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you, Cory! I was able to take a look at your account, and it looks as if we have troubleshot that issue for you in the past. We do remind customers that data must be enabled for picture messaging to be used. Can you give us a call at 888-345-5509 so we can resolve this for you? We would certainly appreciate the opportunity. Thanks again for commenting.

  189. Mel S. says

Making an excellent service even better. Nicely done, and thank you very much.

  190. Mary Taber says

The increased voice and data is a great gift, but my problem is I use more minutes than 250 and less than 750. Would there ever be a chance that you might split the difference and offer a plan with 500 voice minutes? Your service can’t be beat.

  191. Fred says

The guessing resulting from the two days you don’t show make it hard to know what plan you want to be in at the end of our billing period. It compels customers to choose a level higher if they are not certain how much they have used the voice and data in their plan. The minutes used or data used should be as close to real time as possible especially in the last week of a customers billing period.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Fred. If you ever have questions about your usage, you can always take a look at the My Account section of our website, or you can call us at 888-345-5509. We can take a look at your most current usage and help you change your plan if needed. Thank you again!

  192. Andrew Hand says

I believe to make services even better, If Consumer Cellular offered text and data plans separate from each other; Have an option for texting and not bundled with it, a data plan. I am just suggesting and giving feedback.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you, Andrew. We appreciate hearing feedback like this, and I’ve passed it on to our management team. Thanks!

  193. Patrick Potter says

This is a move that has been needed for a while I know a number of people that wouldn’t come to C. C. or stopped there service because of the limited talk and text messaging, I will spread the news glad they finally did this. I have always been really happy with the customer service from Consumer Cellular

  194. allen hicks says

Thanks for the extra data. CC is the best ever. I had T-Mobile for 7 years and it doesn’t compare to what you offer. Keep it up.

  195. Anita Howard says

Thank you for the extra time and such awesome customer service! We live in Iowa and the connections are spotty in our area. I try to recruit new customers all the time but when they ask about connections i have to be honest. I have heard more towers are going up in our area and that this should not be a problem in the future. I hope this is true because i know most of this town would switch in a heartbeat if they didn’t have to worry about that! Thank you again for the AWESOME customer service and prices! You truly set a new standard in the industry!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you, Anita! We love having you as a customer, and we’d like to take a look at your account to see if we can solve those coverage issues for us. Can you call us at 888-345-5509? We’ll be happy to assist you. Thanks again for the lovely comment!

  196. Maureen says

Such a nice surprise. We can breathe a sigh of relief knowing we have 300 extra minutes to talk at such a great price. Thanks Consumer Cellular. We love our phones too.

  197. Steve Critchlow says

What a nice surprised this am! Just logged on to your website to check on my usage amounts so far this billing period and found out both my voice and text minute limits were increased – with no rate increase on my plan! This is the second time since I’ve been a CC customer that I’ve been pleasantly surprised like this. For these value added actions alone, plus my occasional interactions with the CC customer service team, I give your company a “perfect 10” score in customer satisfaction and will gladly continue to recommend your fine company to my friends, relatives, and co-workers. Thank You!

  198. Jo Anne says

Simply put, you are THE BEST cell company out there. My husband and I could not be happier. We sing your praises everywhere! Thank you for your outstanding value and customer service.

  199. Bernard Ottley says

I also want to say thanks for the unexpected but very welcomed service enhancements. When I syart my new job in customer service. I will strive to be as knowledgeable, professional and refreshing as CC. Thanks

  200. Rita Leung says

    Dear Friend,

My cycle ended on March 11 and I will be out of the country so less talk, can I change the plan and how?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Rita! You can change your plan online through My Account, by using the Consumer Cellular app, or you can just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We can adjust your plan and get that taken care of for you. Enjoy your trip!

  201. william alexander says

    Trying to activate….help.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’d be pleased to help you get started, William. Just call us at 888-345-5509, and we can get that taken care of. Thank you!

  202. Beth Bunner says

Does not surprise me. You people ALWAYS give us customers more service, even when we don’t ask. Thanks.

  203. Connie Blake says

What a great surprise!! Thank you! Another reason why I’m so glad I made the switch. Consumer Cellular is THE BEST!

  204. Mary Ellen says

I am a new customer to Consumer Cellular. I am retiring this June and the cost savings will certainly help. Your customer service reps are fantastic as are the how to videos on your website!
    Thank you so much.

    • MaryAlice says

Is this really true? If so, it is great news and very welcomed news at that! Thanks! Have a Wonderful Day.

      • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

It is true, MaryAlice. We hope you enjoy the extra minutes, texts and data!

  205. Jess J says

Consumer Cellular is the best choice I ever made. Other Cell companies like rip a person off. Not CC, they charge exactly what they said. No outrageous bills ever. Their pricing is awesome for the usage u get.

  206. Michael Siple says

I am new to C.C. family and I signed up for a small data package and its nice to hear usage has been extended. New to a smart phone but I was a bit shaken when 77 of my 100 MB data was used for updates that I wasn’t aware of. Still learning to use free Wi-Fi and turn off updates. Will this hurt my phone? Please consider data not used to keep rolling over!!! THANK YOU

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Michael. We’re glad you are using Wi-Fi to reduce the amount of data you use, that’s a great start. There are some other settings we can teach you to use that will minimize data used elsewhere. Our customer support team can be reached at 888-345-5509, and they will be happy to walk you through some options step-by-step to help you get to know your new phone. Thanks again for commenting!

  207. Ken Bigelow says

Thank you for the Promotional 30 min free calls internationally! My exchange student Ita was able to call Cameroon to speak to her family and saved about $10. She has little means, so it was appreciated. Also thank you for the enhanced phone value rates. 🙂

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s great, Ken! We’re so glad you were able to take advantage of the promotion and that it worked out well for your family. Thanks for letting us know!

  208. Jean M Elwood says

Why does my bill keep increasing month to month….

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Jean. If you are going over your plan minutes or text messages, you may see some change due to the overage charges. Taxes can differ depending on where you live as well. If you give us a call at 888-345-5509, we’ll be happy to take a look at your billing for the past few months and see if we can resolve the issue. Thanks again for taking the time to reach out to us.

  209. David Burch says

I would like to thank you for the quality service that all of you give at CC. Love the extra minutes and texts. thank you so much.

  210. Tom Lamb says

I have been with CC for quite some time now, replaced several phones and changed my plan numerous times. CC is no doubt the best when you consider ALL that is offered. However, I am with many others that wish you would separate text and data. Between three phones, we may text 10-15 times a month and of course, use more data. Customer service is way above whoever is in second place but like others, the wait is getting at little lengthy. Still, I have to say I ain’t going nowhere. Thanks for your ongoing continious improvements.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We really appreciate your feedback, Tom. I’ve passed your suggestion about the separation of texts and data on to our management team. As for the wait times, please know that we are actively hiring more customer support team members to address the issue. We appreciate you reaching out to us!

  211. Lauralynn says

Thank you for increasing the call minutes and data to your plans. (Without changing the cost to your customers!) What a bonus!! Your attention to the needs of your customers is exceptional!

Have you ever considered allowing music streaming apps to not add into customers data plans. I know that T-Mobile offers that as a perk with their cell service plans and my husband does enjoy listening to music streaming apps such as Pandora, iHeart Radio and various others. He doesn’t have access to WI-FI (on his commute to and from work) which really can eat into our data useage.

I love Consumer Cellular and would like to stay with your company! Do you have any solutions to this problem? We are accustomed to having UNLIMITED everything, but we were also paying much more on our monthly mobile phone bill.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Lauralynn. We appreciate it when customers let us know what features would make their experience with us even better. I’ve forwarded your suggestion to our management team, but at this time we don’t have plans to offer a music streaming service. If that were to change, we would be sure to let our customers know. Thanks again for taking the time to comment!

  212. Jim Mirabile says

Yeah good plan, but getting slammed with txt messages for a couple extra dollars a month. No one seems to be able to turn this feature off. SPAM txt messages that I am being charged for even though I don’t even open them. Ugh.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We can help you with that, Jim. Just email us at [email protected] or call us at 888-345-5509. All we need is your account information and we can disable that texting feature so you won’t be charged those overage fees. Thank you for letting us know!

  213. Treva Macy says

What a wonderful surprise! Thank you!

  214. Pat Jemmot says

Its a nice surprise to check your account and see that you have an increase on service at no extra cost. We don’t have to be concerned about going over our limits. While the other cell phone carriers battle over whose plan is better, Consumer Cellular modestly gives its customers upgrades to keep us satisfied with our plan so we don’t have to go searching for competitive prices. That’s true customer service! Way to go guys

  215. Jason F. says

I’m really pleased with your service and pricing. The one suggestion I have would be to allow tethering of all phones (Windows phones included) to other portable devices. Being able to use my phone as a wifi hotspot would be great!

  216. Camy McGowan says

Thanks so much for your latest enhanced plans. This sure is helpful for all, especially those on a fixed income.

  217. Virginia says

Really surprised and very pleased with the upgrade on the plans. Just been with CC a couple of weeks and so far very impressed. We do wish you would separate the text from data tho’. We only text a few times a month, but to get the extra data, we have thousands of texts available!?!?

  218. Teresa Brasher says

I have the Doro flip phone and it has an FM radio station on it. If I listen to the radio for a few minutes a day will it use up my 30MB of data? I’m a new customer and also would like to thank you for the extra min. text and data, it was a very nice surprise!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so glad you like the plans, Teresa. To answer your question, your Doro won’t use any data from your plan if you are using the FM radio. Thank you for reaching out to us!

  219. Chris Jones says

Love CC even more now …was going to ask for a talk category of 900 minutes for $25 cuz I was going over the 600 during the holidays …but the 750 has me covered now most months. You have a loyal customer in me for sure!

  220. Georgia Gatzke says

I wanted to say THANK YOU to Consumer Cellular for adding in the extra talk minutes, texts, and data all for the same price I was already paying. How many companies do anything like THAT? And your customer service continues to be second to none. I just can’t believe we lucked into such a great company. You are earning magnificent good karma for your company ethics. Keep up the good work. I tell everybody I know about you. P.S. – we ported our home number to one of the Base Units – worked great and we got to dump Big Name Land Line Company from whom we’d always received very poor CS.

  221. Judy says

Checked my CC app and found more Mins, etc. Cc is a great company. I belong to a site for hobbies. There is a general section and sometimes the topic of cell phones comes up. I always tell people I use Cc. I’ve read others say they do too. Keep up the good work. And thnx for our upgrades.

  222. Ed says

I appreciate the extra minutes and data. Thank you for the auto upgrade. Can I ask when the update to Lollipop (Android 5) will be available for the MOTO G?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

You’re very welcome, Ed. We aren’t offering the Lollipop update at this time, but if that changes, we will be sure to let our customers know. Thank you for commenting!

  223. Paul Vaitkus says

Been a CC customer for 7 years now and believed in you then and still do now! Friends are amazed how much my wife and I pay for your CC service with a couple of Iphones. Keep up the great work!

  224. Jackie Zeigler says

I am trying to figure out why you aren’t releasing the lollipop update on the moto g? Motorola is being cautious on this update with their phones but have given the gift the all clear. I have a moto X and understand I will have to wait for the update due to differences in processors, but I was considering the moto g extra for my son from you, but want to know if you will be offering the update on it before buying. BTW, thanks for the extra minutes!!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Jackie. We will be offering the Lollipop update for the Moto G EXT, but an exact date hasn’t been determined yet. We will be sure to let customers know when it is available. Thanks again!

  225. Smoky Lowe says

This is the greatest company of all and I would not have a cell phone if it wasn’t for you all. I will be a customer until there is no more service. Thank you very much. I did get a friend to sign up and have been working on others, sure hope they see the light. Again, Thank you.

  226. Doris says

Just love everything about CC! I have been a customer about 15 months now and continue to be more than satisfied. Customer service is always helpful and respectful, and I am thankful. Being able to adjust my plan at will is one of the best features to savings that I have found, and the alerts enhance the feature.
The new pricing structure coupled with the AARP discount will make me an even happier customer. I talk you up to everyone I can! Thank you.

  227. Nancy says

I just got my husband signed up with me on the family plan!! This is a HUGE deal, and because of the added minutes, text and data…and after doing the math, this makes our combined plan savings about $15/month at least! Thank you for all you do Consumer Cellular.

    Now TWO happy customers 🙂
    Nancy & Keith

  228. Daniel Phillips says

I am A Consumer Cellular customer for several years now and have been more than happy with their services .It just keeps getting better and better.I will never change again!!!!

  229. joy says

i have 3 phones with cc. love their service. i am having a problem, cant get pictures to take from one phone to the other. i send it and then the receiving screen says unknown subscriber. what do i need to do?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Joy. Can you give us a call at 888-345-5509? We can troubleshoot that issue for you, and work with you to get that resolved. Your phone may need an adjustment to the settings or may need updates. Thank you!

  230. Bonnie B says

I want to up date to a smart phone how do I go about doing it?????

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s great, Bonnie! It’s easy to upgrade to one of our easy-to-use smartphones. You can visit one of our retail locations at a Target or Sears near you, or you can give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can get one on the way to you. We’re sure you’ll enjoy all of the new features a smartphone has to offer. Thanks again for taking to time to comment!

  231. Paul deLespinasse says

This is NOT a complaint. We are new customers and are quite delighted with your service and policies. There is one small change that could be important for some users given your new rates: Those of us who used to be in the top tier for data are now down one tier, and therefore any excess will be billed at 25 cents per megabyte instead of 1.5 cents. This will be no problem, as it is easy to keep track of how much data we are using.

  232. Dianne says

I have your service but I bought the connect package and I can,t get on to the web. I,m paying for it but cant use it. That was one reason why I took the package that I did. My family keeps trying to send pictures and things from the web to me, but it won,t go throught becausr I can,t get the web.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for letting us know, Dianne. There are a few things we can do to try and fix that issue. Can you give us a call at 888-345-5509? We’ll do some troubleshooting and can adjust the settings on your device to resolve that. Thank you again for commenting.

  233. h williams jr says

this is the best wirless company that we have ever been with, and we have tried almost all. thanks for AAA+ customer service

  234. m.smith says

When I signed up with CC,I was told that Wi fi usage would save my data . For two months my statement never showed any data usage, since we used Wi fi all the time. Then I started having trouble getting onto the web ( google) from my smart phone. I called and was talked through a long process of changing settings on my phone and finally was able to access the web. That only lasted about 3 days. Now I ( nor my wife) can access the web from our phones. I don’t understand why my phone had to be re-configured since it was doing fine in the beginning of my service and now its not working for web use. I see the plan changes that will add more data; but we mostly text and I didn’t know that used data. What , if anything, should I do? Also, does taking pictures use data? Thanks for your help.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That sounds frustrating! My first recommendation would be to turn your phone off then on again. Sometimes that is all that is needed to get a better connection to the towers, and it may help with your Wi-Fi connection as well. Wi-Fi is a great way to minimize data usage overall, but picture messaging will need to use some data. Taking pictures with your phone will not use data from your plan.

You can turn the data function on your phone on and off, which will prevent any unwanted data usage. Can you give us a call at 888-345-5509? We can walk you through the process so that you can keep your usage at the level you prefer. Thank you for commenting!

  235. Jeff parriott says

I would love to see at least the voice minutes roll over, I NEVER come close to using my voice minutes. I would love a total roll over plan come to think of it.
    thanks

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Jeff. We appreciate feedback from our customers regarding our plans, and I have sent your suggestion on to our management team. Thanks again!

  236. Jeff parriott says

It would be nice if on the front page of the billing information if it would tell you what plan your currently subscribing to.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the feedback, Jeff. If you are accessing your account via My Account, you can find that information at the top of the page in the Plans & Usage section. If you ever have questions about our billing or about your plan, feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will be happy to assist. Thank you!

  237. c freeman says

purchased the DORO 626 and once I had opened it found that this phone does “not access the internet”. It would have helped make my phone purchase decision to know that at time of purchase. Maybe you can help the next person by putting that on the outside box. Other wise this is a great phone.

  238. Jim N says

What a great company! Words can’t express the nightmare I went through with Verizon before I switched to Consumer Cellular. You are soooo different from them. Look forward to many years as a Consumer Cellular customer.

  239. Sandra Ward says

Thanks for the increase in my minutes and texting.

  240. Jim B says

I have two phones operating with Consumer Cellular. I bought new T-Mobile phone with every intention of switching it to Consumer Cellular at the end of their startup period. Unfortunately your unlimited texts with 4GB data at $40 still falls short of the 100 Min talk, unlimited text/data all for $30/mo I get from them. I hardly use the phone minutes, but I need the data.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Jim. We understand that we might not be the best fit for heavy data users, and we appreciate the feedback regarding our plans. We hope you consider us if your needs change, and we hope you have a wonderful day.

  241. Kathi Cherry says

Love consumer cellular, great service and value. Very pleasant surprise on the additional data and minutes. Just one complaint.
My husband and I are both customers 4 years), retired and travel extensively in our RV, both have the Moto G phone and love them. We go on extended trips with our laptop and would love to be able to use our CC data on the laptop. Our phones (motog android)) have the ability to be a mobile hotspot, however, we were told it was not supported on consumer cellular. We would be willing to buy an additional standalone mobile hotspot device if we could get it to work with one of the consumer cellular sims for data. We need this capability for Android or a standalone mobile hotspot solution.

  242. Amanda says

I love Consumer Cellular and I especially love these nice little surprise increases in minutes, etc. I didn’t take the time to read all of the comments so I apologize if this has already been addressed. Has CC considered rolling over unused data? I don’t use much and try to rely on Wi-Fi but it would be nice to have something in the bank for those times when it isn’t available. Keep up the great work. I can’t imagine ever going back to AT&T!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so glad to hear that you are enjoying your service, Amanda. At this time, we don’t offer rollover data, but we appreciate the feedback. I’ve forwarded your ideas to our management team. Thank you for commenting!

  243. Shelia says

I do not use much talk time, but it is unlimited so does not matter, same with messaging. However, 4gb of data is way too low. Talk time I could care less about. Would love more data.

  244. Jess says

Thanks for enhancing the plans. Now that my text plan is unlimited, the usage shows a full green bar, which is inconsistent with what a full green bar means for my talk or data plans and thus confusing. I suggest that no green bar be used for unlimited plans.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Jess. I’ve passed your thoughts on to our app development team. If you ever have questions about your usage, we would be happy to answer them for you. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you!

  245. Gary S Samson says

On your horizontal usage in stead of just total it should be also under each horizontally calibrated with the day of the usage month. It would help show where the minuets really went and show us a better pattern for our plan usage. Thanks Gary

  246. Gary S Samson says

There are three thing that will keep CC on top. 1, Unlink Text and Data; 2, Allow voice calls, text and Data over wifi when available 3, Have some kind of roll over if you do not make # 1 & 2 available. I have had a very few connect problems (nothing is perfect) we all realize that and I am sure you also do and that’s why more service added to each plan even thought you’ll make more $ in the end. Very smart move on your part. Now if you go just a bit more and that would really keep us happy. So far very happy with what I get for the money spent but in this time of competition among all carriers thing change fast so please stay with the curve and stay on top.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Gary. We appreciate the feedback! It’s important to us that we understand and meet the changing needs of our customers. I’ve passed your ideas on to our management team, and again, thank you for sending them to us. We hope you have a wonderful day, and we’re very pleased to have you as a customer. Thanks!

  247. Dan says

Do you plan to offer service for iPads? Mine has AT&T 3G capability.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Dan. At this time, we do not offer service for tablets, but if that should change, we will update our customers via our website and social channels. We appreciate you taking the time to comment!

  248. Diana says

Great company. Great rates. Exceptional service. I switched over a year ago after T-Mobile signal suddenly stopped working at my house. After hours of calls and in store talk they finally admitted a problem and said it would be 1 1/2 years before it would be fixed. Wish I had found CC years ago. I recommend you to everyone I know. Keep up the great customer service ! Couldn’t be happier !

  249. randy says

what can I do with 30 mbs?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That is a great question, Randy. With that amount of data, you can send a few emails, view your Facebook page a few times, or even surf the web for a bit. We recommend our customers use Wi-Fi whenever possible, so you can minimize your data needs while still enjoying the features of your smartphone. And with our Usage Alerts, we will let you know if you are getting close to the limit of your plan. If you ever have any questions about your text and data plan, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We will be happy to assist you!

  250. Petric says

You put Texting and Data together. Why can I choose the Texting that I want and the Data as well, separately.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Petric. At this time, we find that format works best for many of our customers. We welcome all feedback, and I’ll be sure to pass your comment on to our management team. Suggestions like this are very helpful to us in determining the needs of our customers. If our plan formats change in the future, we’ll make sure to communicate it to our customers. Thank you again for the suggestion!

  251. Elaine says

would really like data usage and text separate

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for commenting, Elaine. We’re always trying to ensure that our service is matching the needs of our customers, so we appreciate when you take the time to let us know how we can serve you better. At this time, we don’t separate data usage and texting, but if that changes, we’ll be sure to let you know. Thank you again for reaching out to us!

  252. (509) 207-0153 says

love it, it’s a pleasure doing business with you

  253. WayneD says

Someone else also mentioned this, but I would like Text separate from Data so that I could get more Data with less Text for the same price I am paying for larger Text with my Data. I might use a minute amount of Text, but have not so far.

  254. PAUL BARNETT says

Many thanks for adding some more minutes to talk. Seems like I was always just a little over My minutes, how this works for Me!

  255. Alice Vanatta says

Thank you for increasing our minutes for the same price. We have had no problems with our phone service yet and are staying with the 1200 min. But the extra 300 min. is certainly appreciated.

  256. S Froebel says

is the web data shareable with other devices?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking! Web data is shared among phones on a family plan. A phone can be added to any plan for an additional $10 per month, and can share plan minutes, texts and data. Thanks again!

  257. anne clark says

I am a senior who switched over to you because of the ads on AARP. I bought one of your non IPhone phones ( Huawei Vision 2) and was disappointed with the low volume and call answering function of the phone. I could live with those issues, but Honda does not support any of your non Iphones for Bluetooth. Very disappointing. I think you should get at least 1 phone supported by Honda and I would switch over. Thank you

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Anne. We’re sorry the Vision 2 wasn’t a good match for you, but we have a variety of other phones that are compatible with Honda’s Bluetooth function. Can you call us at 888-345-5509? We can help you find the right device to meet your call quality needs and that will work well with your vehicle. Thank you for the feedback, and we appreciate you taking the time to comment!

  258. Unknown says

How do I lower my bill?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That is a great question! With Consumer Cellular, you can change your plan as often as you like without penalty. That also means that you can lower your plan if needed, even up to the last date of the billing cycle. This is a great way to make sure you aren’t paying for minutes or text messages you don’t need. We also recommend using Wi-Fi on smartphones whenever possible, as that reduces the amount of data you need. You can view your usage and adjust your plan by using the My CC app, going to the My Account section of the website, or just call us at 888-345-5509. We’ll be glad to help you find an option that is more affordable for you. Thank you again for commenting!

  259. Joe says

My current contract with a competitor ends this month, and I like what I’m hearing about Consumer Cellular, but I have a question. Will the company be coming out with more android phones? I’d rather not take a chance on purchasing an unlocked phone online to setup to use with your service. The current selection of phones I’m seeing may not give me what I’m looking for. Please let me know if there will be new phones arriving in the near future. Thanks.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Joe. We’re happy to hear you are considering our service! Our phone lineup is constantly changing, and we understand that our current device selection may not meet your needs. If you choose to purchase a phone with us, you do have our 100% Risk-Free Guarantee, which means that you can return the phone or exchange it for another in the first 30 days, 300 minutes, 300 text messages or 300MB of data, whichever comes first. That way you can try a phone without worry. If we do announce any new devices, we will be sure to let customers know via our website and social media channels. If you would like to get started, just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will be happy to assist you. Thanks again for commenting!

  260. Gilberto Gomez says

My wife and I are very happy with the service and tell everyone about how great it is. The only thing that would make it perfect is if we could see the name of the caller on the ID; I’m sure I’ll be talking for a lot of us older folks whose memories aren’t as sharp as they used to be, and we won’t answer calls we don’t recognize (though some turned out to be from a new healthcare person). I would not mind having to pay a few dollars for the service.
This additional option would make you not only the best cel provider but the Perfect Provider!
    Thank You

  261. Hotspot says

have not been able to connect to the personal hotspot on my iPhone 5s
    Any ideas?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking! In order to use the hotspot feature on your iPhone, there are some settings that we need to configure on our end. Can you call us at 888-345-5509? We can get that taken care of for you right away. We appreciate you reaching out to us!

      • Robert says

When I attempted to activate personal Hotspot on my Iphone 5s it said to call. I called technical support, recieved a callback, the tech person did not seem clear, (sometime hotspot is used to refer to public wifi at say a coffee shop). I asked explicitly if CC supported the personal hotspot feature on my Iphone and they said no. I consider personal hotpot to be an important back up to my landline internet and I have used it with another carrier in the past. Can you tell me how to get this feature activated or is it no longer available.

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We apologize for the confusion, Robert. Your iPhone 5s can act as a personal hotspot, and we do offer that feature. We don’t offer it as a standard feature, as using the hotspot feature can result in extremely high data usage, which can cause billing surprises. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can get this feature activated on your account. We appreciate your patience, and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Thank you!

  262. Nolan Miller says

I have a Windows phone that I own outright, do I need to buy another phone in order to subscribe to your service?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a great question, Nolan. We have had success with customers using our SIM card in an unlocked, GSM version of a Windows phone. Best of all, the SIM card is free! We can talk with you about your phone model and whether or not it would be a good fit. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can get you started on service. Thank you for commenting!

  263. Jenni Stoltman says

I am pleased more and more by CC. Your customer service is EXCEPTIONAL!!! your prices are the best for our family. and now my 13 year old is much happier with your increased data /talk plans. I ended up having to turn off data for all our lines as she still went over..and this month may have the extra charge go towards a minimum data package to show her we need to stay in budget. YOU MAKE THAT SIMPLE and EASY to CONTROL. Thank you so much!!! As a Parent who is trying to teach limits, I am grateful!! Still hoping for better coverage in areas like my daughters school..and many parts of our home., but for the savings a little inconvenience is worth it..especially since I KNOW it will only get better with YOU. Consumer Cellular I praise you to all who will listen!!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you so much for those kind words, Jenni. We’re so glad you’re enjoying our service, and we look forward to serving you and your family for many years to come. Thanks again!

  264. Patti says

I have to say that I was really skeptical about switching to CC from AT&T. It just seemed too good to be true, and that I would regret it and switch back after a month or so. I’ve been on CC now for about 3 weeks and wonder why I didn’t switch a hundred years ago! My bill is less than half of what I was paying with AT&T, and that is with more data than on my AT&T plan. I couldn’t be happier. Thanks!

  265. Robert says

I drive a semi truck over the road. I’ve tried all of the other no contract phones. I switched to Consumer Cellular in Dec. 2014. I kept my other phone active along with a new phone that I purchased separately and received a sim card for free from Consumer Cellular to use in my new phone. The service I got throughout the US from Consumer Cellular blew me away. When I was getting 2 to 3 bars with the other carrier’s phone, I was picking up 4 to 5 power bars with Consumer Cellular. At one time I called the other carrier to tell them I was getting so many dropped calls but with the service connection from you I rarely get a dropped call. I bought an unlocked apple phone and I have not used up half the GB’s I’m getting. With the phone purchased from the other carrier, they add app after app that you don’t want or need and they’ll tell you they can’t be removed. That way they will eat up your GB’s. But all in all, Consumer Cellular’s phone connection out on the road has been excellent. Thank you!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for that wonderful compliment, Robert. We’re so glad that you are having a great experience with us, and we look forward to serving you for many years to come. Stay safe on the open road!

  266. jean marie larousse lazarre says

Seven months I’ve been with consumers cellular. I’m partly happy with the service.we are a family of four. We need more data.I already referred many of my friends to cc.I have two other families waiting to sign in once cc provides more data.It is something to consider:cc would bring in a whole lot of business. I used to have unlimited data with Tmobile from where I switched. I do need more data, because I spend most of the day out:wifi is not working for me. Congratulations, great service, keep on improving.

  267. Vanamee says

Still a ripoff. Why should I have to pay extra for a text plan. Texting should be included with the talk plan.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Vanamee. We appreciate hearing feedback regarding our plans. At this time, we find these plans work best for the majority of our customers. Thank you for the suggestion, and I’ve forwarded it on to our management team. Thank you again for taking the time to comment.

  268. Judith McCreary says

I love love love Consumer Cellular. Used to when I called someone my name came up on there caller ID. Now it just comes up Wireless Caller. Why?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the kind words, Judith. We really appreciate them! As for your caller ID, when you call someone else, your number should show as only Wireless Caller. If someone has you saved to their phone as a contact, your name will appear on their screen. If we can answer any questions you have about this or any other issue, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We will be happy to help! Thanks again for commenting!

  269. Babak says

How is it that for an extra $10 one goes from 0.5G of data to 1.5G, for an additional goes from 1.5G to 3G, and only gets 1G when going from 3G to 4G. This should be 5G rather than 4G? Consumer Cellular please fix this flaw-

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Babak. At this time, we find that structure of plans works best for our customers, but we appreciate the feedback! I’ve forwarded your thoughts on to our management team. If you have any questions about our plans, we will be happy to answer them at 888-345-5509. Thank you!

  270. Gloria says

I hope you would come up with a separate plan for text or either have an option to go with the data plans you offer. I feel I’m saving in one area and losing money in another.

  271. James says

On what day of each month does the billing period end?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, James. We offer a few different billing periods to our customers, so that they can choose the timing that is most convenient for them. We would be happy to take a look at your account and see what billing cycle you are currently on. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for the comment!

  272. Monte says

Well done! I appreciate these changes, and the last round of data increases you made last year.

I have enjoyed using CC for the past two years, and have convinced several skeptical friends to switch. It feels good to be able to recommend you and know the new customers will be happy.

I was at an event not long ago where someone was complaining about their carrier. The guest next to me said “Consumer Cellular” and I immediately smiled and said “YES!” When you have word-of-mouth advertising like this, how can you go wrong?

Keep up the good work! Although your loyal customers may not often take the time to say thank you, since people seldom call to say they have no problem and like your service, we love you!

  273. Bob and Carol Mether says

Thank you for a company that takes into consideration what the customer has to say and doesn’t act like all they care about is the bottom line. We have been with CC for about a year now and have never had a problem with our plans or customer service, infact customer service has been the best we have ever done business with in many years. Thank you again for a great company.

  274. Leah says

I would like it if you offered more cell phone choices, like the Samsung galaxy phones. I bought the Huawei mate 2, but I really do not like it.

  275. RT says

Totally agree with those who would like to see flexibility re: more data vs. unlimited texting.

  276. Gregory g says

I would love it if you could get iPhone 6 plus for a cheaper down payment. And be able to more than two with easy pay

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Gregory. We recently lowered the down-payment for our iPhones, with the iPhone 6 starting at just $50 down. You can take a look here to see the color and storage options. I’ve also forwarded your feedback regarding the number of phones available with EasyPay to our management team. We appreciate hearing from our customers, especially since we are always looking to improve the customer experience. We hope you have a great day!

  277. Tasi says

My family told me I talk too much so they rather text me instead of talking on the phone. Now, the whole family whom ever want to get in touch with will text me. I need more texting data, than phone calls. I hope there is a plan for this.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Tasi. Many of our customers are finding themselves texting more than ever before. With our flexible plans, you can adjust for months when you need more. For example, you can have a plan that has 3,000 text messages and 500MB of data and 250 minutes for just $25 per month. We even offer unlimited texting plans if you need more than that! Just adjust your plan over the phone, using the My CC app or make the change on our site in the My Account section. Thank you again for reaching out to us today!

  278. edward szalno says

recently i traveled overseas and found out that consumer cellular does not have international coverage only nationwide . my question is will there ever be any plans to have international coverage capabilities with CC cellphones. thank you

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Edward. At this time, our service is indeed only available in the United States. If we should offer international coverage in the future, we will be sure to let our customer know via our website, newsletter and social media. I have also forwarded your comments on to our management team. It’s very helpful when customers let us know which features or additions they would enjoy, so thank you for taking the time to reach out to us today. Have a wonderful weekend!

  279. Barbara Rolph says

I do not understand why my data usage exceeded my plan. I only use my phone for phone calls and texting, so don’t understand how and why this happens. Is there something that I need to do to ensure that my data usage is either “0” or at a minimum? Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Barbara. I see that you were able to get some help from Christina, our customer service representative and get this question resolved. We appreciate you reaching out to us with your questions, and please let us know if there is anything else we can do. Thank you!

  280. Steve says

This is all great, when are you going to consider an exchange plan for phones? I signed up with reservations of jumping in head first on a smart phone. Now that I’m sold on your service, I would like to see a reasonable price for a trade-in.

  281. Jon says

Every month you tell me I’ve used 30-50 more minutes than my phone says I have used. Why? This month you say I’ve used 249 minutes and my phone says I’ve used 204 minutes. why the discrepancy? My billing periods are supposed to run from the 15th through the 14th.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Jon. The additional minutes could be due to checking your voicemail, which does use minutes from your plan. The best way to check your usage is by using the My CC app, or by visiting the My Account page on our website. There, you can see your usage in real time and in the most accurate manner. We certainly apologize for any confusion, and we appreciate you reaching out to us. Have a wonderful day!

  282. Beverly says

What is the Sqare Trade Protection Plan that I am charged $3 @ month?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Beverly. Your Square Trade protection plan is an insurance program to protect your device in case of accidents. If you should drop your phone or damage it in any way, that plan allows you to get a replacement device. For more information about what is covered by your protection plan, please click the link here. You can opt out of your protection plan if you would like, we would just need you to give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for the question, and we appreciate you taking the time to post!

  283. barry says

you should get all your talk mins as u pay for them and then u lose em at the end why do u take back what we pd for already just didnt use em yet

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate your feedback, Barry. We find that offering flexible plans that our customers can change allows them to manage their usage, so that they never pay for more minutes than they need. That’s why you can change your plan up until the last day of your billing cycle, so that you can adjust your plan in the way that makes the most sense for you. I’ve forwarded your comments to our management team, and we appreciate hearing from customers such as yourself. It allows us to create better plans and a better customer experience. Thank you again for posting, and I hope you have a great day!

  284. Mary Tillotson says

I just read all the great reviews about CC. And I agree with most (that is the ones I understand). But one I do not uderstand; when I use wifi on my phone instead of using my phone data, it is using my GB from my data plan (which is only 500MB per month) and I always go OVER. Can I get free wifi access on my phone and if so, how do I do this? All the wifi connections need a password including my plan but I know my plan’s password but not all the other wifis listed. Is there such a thing as wifi hotspots that are free, and if so, how does one connect. I do have free wifi access to hotels, etc when I am traveling, but not to local wifi hotspots. AND I AGREE TEXTING IS NOT MY THING: what good is having 3,000 texts when I have never used more than 40; and most of the time about 10 or less??I would like to eliminnate texting since I do not use it very much and have more data which dI use much more…As so many others have requested. Thanks for striving to help your customers and keep up tge good work….Mary

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to post, Mary. Using Wi-Fi is a great way to minimize the amount of data you use. The first step is to make sure that Wi-Fi is active on your phone. I see that you use our Huawei Vision 2, a popular Android smartphone. To make sure Wi-Fi is active, open the Settings app and make sure the button next to Wi-Fi is in the “On” position. You can do that by sliding the button to your right. From there, tap the Wi-Fi line to see available networks. You need to be connected to a Wi-Fi network in order to access the internet without using your data plan.

This screen will show you a list of available networks. Any network with a lock next to it will require a password. When you visit a hotel or cafe with a hotspot, they will often provide you with that password. Select the network you would like to connect to by tapping the network name. Enter the password if required, then select “Connect”. There are free hotspots in a variety of locations, so look for signs when you are out and about. To see if a Wi-Fi network is available, follow the steps above.

We also have a great video on using Wi-Fi on the Support page for your phone here. And of course, we’re always available to help you at 888-345-5509. We appreciate your feedback about our plans, and I’ve sent your comments on to our management team. It’s always great to hear from customers like yourself, and your suggestions help us in creating better plans for everyone. Thank you again for posting, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

  285. Robert says

Do Incoming Gmail alerts count against data if I do not open them ? And/or, how do I turn off those alerts ?
I have a My Cast Weather app. How much data does that take ? Other than phone calls and rare text messaging, I really don’t want to go above my 500mb data as I am a low usage client.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Those are great questions, Robert. Incoming alerts, also known as push notifications, do use a small amount of data. If you would like to stop them, you will need to open the individual app they are being sent from, and adjust them in the settings there. As for finding out how much data an individual app uses, you can find out in the Data usage section of your settings. I see that you are using the Moto G EXT, one of our Android smartphones.

To check your data usage, open the Settings app, then select Data usage. From here, you can see how much data is being used by each app, and you can set limits to how much data can be used on the phone. You can also disable data altogether, which we recommend for customers who are worried about overages. You can always turn data back on when you need to use it or when Wi-Fi isn’t available. We’re always available to help you with data questions, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thanks again for posting, and we hope you have a wonderful day.

  286. Dennis says

We would like to upgrade our phones, and we are looking at the iphone 6. Is there a discount for paying up front rather than making the monthly payments? I thought at one time there was a AAA discount?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Dennis. We don’t offer a discount for paying in full for our devices, but with our EasyPay payment plans, you can make monthly payments on the phone without interest. The iPhone 6 is a great smartphone, and with our EasyPay plan, you can get started for just $50. At this time, we don’t offer a discount on devices for AAA members, but AARP members do receive a 5% monthly discount on their usage charges. By allowing our customers to select the phones and payment plans that work best for their needs, we are able to provide such affordable monthly plans. Thank you again for taking the time to reach out to us, and we hope you have a great day!

so far slow an not so convient service on 5/25/2015

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry about that, Robert. The day after a holiday weekend can be very busy, even when we are open on the holiday. I see that Joel was able to assist you, and that you were able to make the changes you needed. Please let us know if there is anything else we do for you today. Thank you for taking the time to post!

  288. Bob Onit says

Great service! The only improvement would be to roll over some unused data or minutes….since its paid for already.

  289. Hannah says

I think it would be great to allow the data to be spit or delegated to each line. Trying to share equally doesn’t work in my family because one person uses up more data than their share and forces the rest of us to use less than our share in order to avoid paying for overages. It would be nice to cut a person off after they used “their share.”

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the feedback, Hannah. It can be frustrating to share a data plan, but there is an easy way to “cut someone off” when they have used their amount. Just go to My Account and login. From the dashboard, find the phone under Lines & Equipment. Click the menu at the top right corner and choose Manage Messaging/Data. From there, you can remove the data capabilities for that line of service. You can also turn it back on the same way. You can also set data usage limits on individual smartphones, and it is usually under the Data Settings. If you need any help, we’re happy to assist you at 888-345-5509. We hope this helps your family manage your plan a little easier, and enjoy your plan a little more!

  290. Eddie says

Why cant I get talk AND text

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Eddie. You can have both talk and text plans with Consumer Cellular. I see that you already have one of our Talk plans, so you can add a Text and Data plan by visiting My Account on our website. Once you’re there, go to Plans & Usage at the top of the dashboard. Select the menu drop-down in the top-right corner, and select “Change Connect Plan”. You can choose the right plan for your needs, and that’s it! We’ll take care of the rest. If it’s more convenient for you, we can change your plan over the phone at 888-345-5509. Soon you’ll be texting away! Thank you again for taking time to post!

  291. Jim says

Anthony assisted me with making changes in my account. Your reps are always helpful, courteous and above all very patient, with attention to detail. Thank you Consumer Cellular for employing the very best service reps.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you so much, Jim. I’ve made sure to let Anthony’s supervisor know about his excellent service, and we really appreciate that you took to time to acknowledge him. We hope you have a great day!

  292. Jim says

I was informed about Consumer Cellular by a cousin, and upon acceptance of service, was appreciative of the “sign up” bonus, also given to my cousin. Prior to joining the Consumer Cellular family, and during the time I was ending my contract with my previous carrier, I informed my Sister about the advantages of Consumer Cellular service. She in turn informed her son-in-law. My cousin was credited with my Sister sign-up, and Sister credited with son-in-law. After inclusion, I told a friend about your service, informing him about the $10/$10 bonus feature. An April conversation of “hey did you ever check on Consumer Cellular”? He informed me that yes, and in fact he was talking to me on his Consumer Cellular phone, which I believe he picked up at Sears. Not seeing any communication from Consumer Cellular about my bonus, I contacted them and was told there was no record. My “friend” said he gave Sears my phone number. The lack of follow through is the contention, not $10, but as Consumer Cellular is a great service, I no longer act as a Consumer Cellular sales rep. When asked, I just say service is better than before, and change the subject.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re certainly sorry for the confusion, Jim. At this time, our retail locations like Sears and Target do not have the ability to extend the referral credit to your account. We would be happy to resolve the issue for you, we simply need your friend to give us a call at 888-345-5509, and tell us about the referral. We know having customers like yourself spreading the word is the best advertising we can get, so we want to do everything in our power to reward you for it. Thank you again for recommending our service, and we appreciate that you let us know about this. Thank you!

  293. Carol Sylvester says

One of the best thing I ever did was to get away from Sprint and get a better voice, data, and text plan with Consumer Cellular

  294. don loomis says

is there a plan that will combine both talk and text?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Don. We’ve crafted our plans so that our customers can choose the combination of talk, text and data that works best for them. We don’t have one single plan combining the two, but you can instead choose the mix that best meets your needs. You can learn more about your options on our Plans page here. We’re also available to help you choose the right plan with you at 888-345-5509. Thanks for commenting!

  295. Julie Spilker says

I thought I was approaching my data limit, and then noticed that you raised it again! Y’all are awesome!! Who does this?? Thank you so much! Talk about positive reinforcement!!

  296. ted0ugh says

More data, less text. Me too! Why must we pay for something we don’t use. Why doesn’t Consumer Cellular use a mix and match. Pay less for text, Pay more for data. Or the other way around pay more for text and less for data! Why combine both, when you don’t use it.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the feedback! It’s very helpful for us to hear from customers which features they use most, or how we can make our plans even better. I’ve passed your feedback on to our management team, and we appreciate you taking the time to tell us. At this time, we don’t offer separate text and data plans, but if that should change in the future, we will be sure to announce it. Thanks again for commenting, we appreciate it!

  297. Shirley says

More time for no increase in dollar amount! Consumer Cellular, you are great! Thank you. I have been very happy with your company, and the service. When I’ve had an issue, your personnel has always resolved whatever it was. They are consistantly pleasant, polite, and professional. They know their product, and the fact that you are completely based in the USA is a huge incentive for being a Consumer Cellular customer.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

What a great compliment, Shirley! Thank you for posting, and we’re so glad to have you as a customer.

  298. Willis`Mooney says

When we signed on with CC we had a lot of trouble with dropped calls (we live in a fringe area) but were led to expect improvement in the future. The rate and conditions of the plan are great so we have waited out the problems. We heard a new cell tower was being activated but have noticed no improvement. It looks as though we will have to go back into the fray just to be able to make AND complete a call.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Willis. We’re sorry you are experiencing coverage issues, and after taking a look at your account, we may be able to offer you better coverage by sending you new SIM cards for your devices. If you are interested in trying this option, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’ll get those on the way to you, and we appreciate you reaching out to us today!

  299. Sandy Epley says

How can someone email a text to a consumer cellular customer who has texting capabilities? What do they put in the ’email line’ phone number + what? My employer wants to know how they can contact me immediately if need be via this way.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Sandy. It’s a simple process, just ask your employer to do the following. To send an email via text message, in the “To” line, put in the 10 digit phone number followed by @txt.att.net. For instance: [email protected]. Please note that text messages can contain 160 characters and if the message is longer, it will be split into more than one text. If you are sending pictures, then use the 10 digit number followed by @mms.att.net. That way your employer will be able to contact you, and you will see these messages as text messages. Thank you for taking the time to post today!

  300. Sandy Epley says

another question. will be moving two phone numbers over at some point. We already know we have to purchase new phones. It say you can add another line for $10 each. Do they share not only the voice but the text/media as well? Or is there a separate charge for that also?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Sandy. With our Family Share plans, you will pay an additional $10 per month, but the phones on your account will share all plan minutes, text messages and data. So your monthly bill would be your talk plan, your text and data plan and the $10 to share. We do our best to make it simple and easy, and all calls between phones on the same plan are free! You can find more information about these plans on our website at ConsumerCellular.com/shopping/choose/plan. Thank you for the comment!

      • Sandy says

Do these family share plans include billed per use calls? Are the billed per use calls between members of the family share plan free?

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

I’m happy to answer that for you, Sandy. All calls between lines on the same account are free, regardless of the calling plan. Any calls made to other phone numbers would be billed per use as usual. If you would like to add a line to your plan, we’re happy to help you do that at 888-345-5509. Thank you for posting today!

  301. Craig says

It seems that a majority of customers on this blog have suggested that you separate data from text like you do with talk. I also do not text and am considering getting one of the smart phones. However until this issue is dealt with and changed I will regretfully resist changing. Right now the Doro will have to do while I use my other phone regretfully with Verizon. I did see that messaging can be turned off completely but at no savings or addition of time to the other half of the equation ‘data’. Customer service was much better when I first began my service but is deteriorating slowly. (long wait times to connect with an agent). Hope that is corrected quickly. You still are one of the best out there for caring for your customers. Just don’t get too big and become “One of Them OTHER GUYS” who we all despise.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Craig. We do appreciate each suggestion that comes from our customers. We’ve found that the majority of our customers prefer the simplicity of combining their text and data plans. That being said, we understand that we have a wide variety of customers who have different usage needs and our plans may not be for everyone. That’s why we allow you to change your plan as often as you like, so that you never pay for more than what you really need. Please know that we appreciate the feedback we receive from customers, and that we absolutely take it into consideration when we are crafting our plans. Thank you for taking the time to comment here, and we appreciate having you as a customer.

I’m having the same problems as Willis. I text to my granddaughter 2 miles away and it doesn’t go through. I call her and she says she never got the call… or she gets it when she is home. This has happened with other people as well. Sometimes people say they called me, and I don’t get the call. This is very frustrating and I’m particularly concerned because I am unable to reach my granddaughter at school, two miles away.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry about that, Eleanor. We appreciate you letting us know. I was able to take a look at your account, and I re-synched your text messaging settings. Please turn your phone off, then turn it back on again. If this issue persists, please give us call at 888-345-5509. There are some additional settings we can take a look at and change if needed. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

It’s all good !!! Like I said, It’s all good!!!

  304. LorettaYeo says

You keep increasing the number of minutes, but you’ve never replaced the 100-minute plan I started with. I’m now paying $15 for 240 more minutes than I need. Why not offer a plan that’s cheaper than $15, but covers incidental minutes? If I go with the $10 plan, then I always have to go in and change it before the end of the month if I have to make a call.
BTW – I’m still trying to figure out what people SAY with all those minutes.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the comment, Loretta! We try to take all types of usage into consideration when we update our plans, and we’ve found that the 250 minute plan works well for many of our customers. I’ve passed your feedback on, and we appreciate your comments. We hope you have a great day!

  305. Ran says

Consumer Cellular is excellent ..tons better than my previous carrier …but…their customer service varies widely. Still, I did get 2 reps in Oregon – both were fantastically polite and friendly and very helpful- 1 guy and 1 lady on 2 diff occasions were fantastic. Then I got 1 lady based elsewhere-not Portland but not sure where. I finally hung up and since then am very reluctant to call back. I want to add a second line but can’t get a straight answer to my question- what will be the time lapse to bringing on a second line when they keep their existing “old number” that they have had with the other carrier- in other words how long will my family member be without cell service from when they call Verizon and stop service, install the consumer cell chip on their existing apple iPhone and then go “live with Consumer Cellular”. I’ve be told immediate “switch over” or up to 5 days. So until I get a straight answer, I will not add a second line as much as I want to because I really like Consumer Cellular.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so sorry for the confusion, Ran. Porting time can differ from company to company, but in general, when you bring your phone number to our service, you should be able to make calls immediately, and receive them a few hours later. Our customers receive a text message confirmation once the entire process is complete. The important thing to remember is that the line must be active to be brought to our service, so please make sure your family member does not cancel their Verizon account. You will also need to have your previous carrier’s account number and information ready when you activate your line with us. We’ll take care of the porting, and once the number is transferred, your previous account will be closed. Some carriers do charge an early termination fee, so we recommend that you confirm any charges with the previous carrier. We’re happy to answer any other questions you may have about the porting process at 888-345-5509, and we apologize for any miscommunication previously. Thank you so much for reaching out to us today!

Do you have a refurbished iPhones for sale ?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking. We don’t have refurbished devices, but we offer a great discount on our carrier returned phones. They are physically the same phone and in like-new condition, but it has been returned by a previous customer. It’s a great cost-saving alternative to a new phone. We stand behind our carrier returned models the same as our new phone models with the same Risk Free Guarantee. If you are interested, please feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we can see if an iPhone is currently available. We appreciate you taking time to comment today!

I have a Motorola Moto G EXT phone, every day data is being used by who knows for various updates that I do not want, it is constantly using up all of my data. I have to increase my data to handle updates that I do not want. How do you stop the automatic use of updates?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a great question, Carolyn. You can disable these automatic updates, which can use a great deal of data. We first recommend that you keep Wi-Fi turned on, so that your phone will be able to use Wi-Fi first, rather than use any data from your plan. To disable automatic updates and restrict background data, go to the Options icon on your home screen, then select Settings. From there, select Data Usage. You’ll see a screen showing your current data usage. Select the three dots at the top right corner, which will then show a drop down menu. Select Restrict background data, then follow the next steps on the screen. If you run into any issues, just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll walk you through it. Taking these steps will allow you to use less data, putting you back in control. Thank you for taking the time to comment, and we hope you have a great day!

Purchased a sim card today at Sears. Came home called the number and got a great service rep who walked me through the set up and within 5 min My phone was hooked up and working on your system. What a great start with what looks like a great company to be with. Thanks to your team.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so glad to hear that, Royce! Thank you for those kind words, and we’re looking forward to serving you for years to come.

      • Royce Emley says

After 5 days since I signed up, everyone says how clear and perfect they hear me, the reception is fantastic on Consumer Cellular. I have had all the main carriers in the past and each had drop outs and poor reception. My friends now want to use up all my minutes since the reception is so good I have to get them off the phone as quick as I can. Never had that problem before!

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s great, Royce! We’re so glad to hear you’re enjoying our service. Thank you for reaching out to us!

On April 17 JOHANNA said make sure wifi turned on but also on Moto G ext “mobile data” turned off or apps running in background will use data but I find no such setting. Am I missing where I should be looking?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Bill. With the Moto G EXT, you can adjust your data settings so that you can completely disable background data. That way, only Wi-Fi will be used when data is turned off. First, make sure your Wi-Fi is enabled. Then, go to Settings, then select “Data Usage”. You can turn data on or off here by sliding the button to the on or off position. To disable background data, select the three dots at the top-right of the screen. Then check the box next to “Restrict Background Data”, then confirm by selecting “OK”. If you run into any issues, feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’re happy to help! Disabling background data for your apps will help you minimize your data usage so that you can better manage your plan. Thank you again for taking the time to comment, we appreciate it!

  312. Larry Stewart says

I see a lot of people asking for rollover. One person pointed out how you evade the issue. Another had the same request and you offered changing the plan as a solution. This is the reason I use pay as you go. Like those who have usage from the per billing month, to use my services sparingly. Having 4G is great but from what I have viewed in this forum, having rollover data and minutes would be a greater attribute to the great service that you already provide. And would make your users much happier. I am interested in Consumer Cellular as a provider, but until a solution comes about that will not undermine the subscriber’s, I shall remain a pay as you go client. To better service.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Larry. We’ve created our plans with a focus on flexibility and value. We’ve found in the past that customers who have rollover plans with other carriers pay more for those services, and are paying for more service than they really need. We offer a variety of plans so that our customers only need to pay for what they use, and if they need more minutes or text messages, they can change at any time. That being said, our plans aren’t for everyone, and we understand that we may not be the best fit. We appreciate the feedback you’ve given us, and thank you once again for reaching out!

Ashley, I’ve been with most of the big carriers and still find Consumer Cellular to provide the VERY best bargain offering the best flexibility and now with my Moto E LTE, I am really REALLY happy!

When I spoke with “conssumer” agent first time . he told me my plan is $20 and no tax. My first bill was $24.75 ,my second bill is $25.25. Will my next bill be $ 26.00. $ 20.00 price is OK, what I pay now is not competative. Tax was not option when I swich to conssumer, now it is .

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We apologize for any confusion, Zare. $20 is the amount of your service plan, but your taxes are determined by the local government in your area. We are required to include them with your service unless you are tax exempt. If you would like more information about the state and local taxes listed on your telephone bill, you can contact your local and state tax offices. They’ll have the correct information for your area. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us, and hope you have a great day!

  315. Royce Emley says

It’s confusing to the users because each State and local governments rates are slightly diffrent. I f I lived 1 mile North
in the next county the tax rate on my bill would be diffrent. They also change the tax rates each year and add some when a new law passes. …… You can allways count on death and taxes!

  316. Kay Veter says

Yep, need more data and less text.

  317. Rosemary says

I agree the text and data should be separate. Even though my phone is set to wifi, I had my pics transferred to my computer and it took me over my data plan limit which has never happened before. I normally use very little data or text, but less texting, so would like it separate.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to post, Rosemary. We appreciate your feedback, as it helps us determine the plans that best meet the needs of our customers. A great option for transferring photos is to use a memory card or to use an USB cable and transfer them directly. That way, you won’t need to use any data, and you can ensure your pictures are stored safely. We would be happy to walk you through the process, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’re happy to help! Thanks again for posting today!

  318. sdJAG says

While a little more data for the money is an improvement, it’s very disappointing to see the overage charge for data raised to 25 cents per MB–that takes something that was a minor, manageable cost into a need to spend $10 to the next higher plan. With Walmart offering unlimited internet for less than $30 (which includes phone, text, aata) and others with low priced umlimited plans, you’ve finally managed to overcome my reluctance to change plans.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry to hear that! We do understand that our customers have diverse needs, so we appreciate hearing feedback like this from our customers. With our recent plan update, we now provide our customers with unlimited calling and texting plan options, and that for most of our customers, that flexibility works well. That way our customers never have to pay for more than what they need. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us today, and we hope you have a great day!

Well, I put in a question on June 16th, but it looks like it was deleted and not answered. If this is the kind of service I can expect from now on since becoming a member in 2013, I will start looking elsewhere for my cellular service. Would someone please e-mail me or call me on my number so we can get this issue resolved.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry for any inconvenience, Thomas. It looks as if there may have been an issue with the comment during the submission process, so for that we apologize. I’ve sent you an email so that we can get any issues you are experiencing resolved as quickly as possible. Thank you for reaching out to us!

  320. william says

When I first got my phone worked good. But now I don’t have much service in my home. Is there some type of update I need to do.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry to hear that, William. Please try turning your phone off, then back on again. This will allow your phone to reconnect to the nearest tower that has the strongest signal at your home. If that doesn’t work, feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’re happy to troubleshoot the issue further if needed. Thank you for taking the time to comment, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

We’re so happy to hear that, Lynda. Thank you for sharing your kind words!

  322. Pat says

I’m still very new to the texting and data. First question I have is what activities use data? Does using the camera use up data? Why do I have trouble using the WiFi as soon as I leave the house?Seems like some activities use data and shouldn’t, so obviously I just don’t know what uses up data. Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

These are great questions, Pat! First, data is used when an app or program is used that needs to access the cellular data network. This can include GPS, various apps, using email, going online or sending picture messages. We recommend that you use Wi-Fi whenever possible, as that will allow you to do most of those things for free! Using your camera won’t use data from your plan, and neither will making phone calls or playing music you’ve saved to the phone. Wi-Fi requires you to be near a Wi-Fi router, so it won’t work outside of your home. You may be able to connect at places like the library, a cafe or other business that offers free Wi-Fi. The best thing to do is to turn your data off, which will keep you from using it unintentionally. With your Moto G, just open the Settings app, then go to “Data Usage”. From there, press the On button on to the top right of the screen, and slide it to the left to the Off position. We’re happy to help you over the phone if that works best for you, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you for asking, and you’ll be a smartphone expert in no time!

  323. Joanne says

Is there a way to use our GREAT Consumer Cellular service while in Mexico (Rosarito Beach) without paying a huge amount? Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Joanne! Our service will only work in the United States, and if you use your phone while in Mexico, you may be subject to high roaming charges. We can’t control the price of these fees, so we recommend that you keep your phone in Airplane mode while on vacation. You can still use your phone with Wi-Fi, which will allow you to keep in touch via email or use Facebook. Another option is to purchase an international SIM card once you arrive. You can use that while on vacation, then put your Consumer Cellular SIM card back in when you arrive home. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about using your phone outside of the U.S., just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We will be happy to assist you! Thank you again for taking the time to comment, and we hope you have a wonderful trip!

When I’m unable to connect to WiFi, I don’t seem to be able to view my email or use my Sirius/XM or Pandora apps as they cannot make an internet connection. I have an Apple IPhone 5s 16GB.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Joe! I was able to take a look at your account, and confirm that you have data services enabled on our end. First, try turning your phone off then back on again. This will allow it to reconnect with the nearest tower so you will receive the best possible signal. Also, confirm that you have enabled data. You can do this by going to Settings, then selecting “Cellular”. From here, ensure that button next to “Cellular Data” is in the On position. If the issue persists, please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll be happy to troubleshoot it further. Thank you again for commenting!

  325. Joe says

    NEED MORE DATA TIERS

We usually use around 2GB / mo – your plans jump from 1.5GB for $20 and 3GB for $30 (should be 2GB for $20, 3GB for $30, etc).

When we go on road trips, the kids manage to eat VAST amounts of data 5,6,7,8,9,10 GB. It would be nice if there were 5,6,7,8,9,10GB tiers. Gophone is selling an 8GB tier for $75. Many providers give you 10Gb for $80 or even 20GB for a really reasonable rate…

Any chance you could implement this, or at LEAST a flat rate of $10/GB over 4GB making 10GB cost a flat $100 by Jul 2 when we leave on a string of road trips..? 🙂

I do no understand why data is $10/GB at the 3GB and 4GB tiers and then jumps up to $15/GB over 4GB. Making it a flat $10/GB over 4GB would be more competitive.

Other than this – everything is GREAT – love it – just gets a little expensive and I keep finding myself searching for better deals (like Cricket for example where you can get 5 lines for $100/mo (taxes included) EACH with unlimited talk and text and 2.5GB and then throttled to 128kbps unlimited after that – no tethering though). I am very tempted to try that. 5 Lines on Consumer Cellular with 750 min, unlimited text and 3GB shared comes out to around $101/mo…..

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for providing us with this great feedback, Joe. We appreciate suggestions from our customers as they help us better understand the types of plans that best meet your needs. We’re glad to hear that you are happy with your service for the most part, and I’ve forwarded your suggestions about a flat data rate on to our management team. Thank you for taking the time to comment, and we enjoy serving you and your family!

I want to know right now I have AT&T plan no contract as of this month want to know if I can use my phone number and also if I have a balance through 18th see if I can still use my phones

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Susan. When switching to our service, we will make the transfer process easy and hassle-free. All you have to do is have your previous carrier’s account information ready when you call us to start service. We’ll take care of the number transfer, which will cancel your AT&T account. We recommend double checking with them to be sure that the cancellation went through, and that you won’t have any unexpected charges. Once the transfer is complete, which normally takes about 24-48 hours or less, you’ll be all set!

If we can answer any questions for you about the porting process or about our service, please feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509. We look forward to serving you!

  327. SharonB says

I’m considering switching to CC from Sprint – Will I be able to keep my current phone number and will my contacts be automatically transferred?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great questions, Sharon! You can absolutely keep your phone number, and we will be happy to walk you through the transfer process. You will just need to have your current carrier’s account information ready. We also recommend that you confirm with them that you won’t be subject to any early termination fees or other charges. As for your contacts, you can save them to your Apple ID or Google account if applicable, or you export them to an SD card. That way you’ll easily be able to transfer them to your new phone. We’re ready to help you make the switch whenever you’re ready. Just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we’ll take care of the rest! Thank you for posting today, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

Thank you for reaching out to us, Guy. I was able to take a look at your account, and I’ve confirmed that you should have good coverage in your area, and there aren’t any tower outages currently. Please try turning your phone off, then back on again. This will allow your phone to reconnect with the tower nearby that has the strongest signal. This works best if you are near a window or outside. If the issue continues, please give us a call at 888-345-5509. We’ll be happy to troubleshoot it further. Purchased card last June put in old phonr. Last week smashed phone. Wert to Sears bought a Motarola Moto G LTE. sWITCHED CARDS AND DONE. I noticed the new phone had another of your Sim cards in it that I set aside. My son knowing I needed a phone had droped off a Samsung Galaxy S III so I put the sim in it. It showed that it would work if I had a number. I don’t need a second working phone at the moment but if I did do I just call and ask for a phone number and have it added to my plan?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Royce. To answer your question, yes, we can always activate a SIM card and provide you with a new phone number. All you will need to do is give us a call, and we can note that on our end as well as send any settings updates that may be needed for the phone. We’re available at 888-345-5509 when you’re ready, but in the meantime, enjoy your new Moto G LTE! We appreciate you taking the time to reach out today!

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Royce. It’s easy to add a line to your plan. Both phones will share your plan’s minutes, texts and data for just an additional $10 per month. That’s it! You’ll see that added to your invoice once you activate your new line. If you’re ready, we can take care of that for you at 888-345-5509, or you can add a line using the My Account page. We have the issue of poor cell reception just in our house. Never had this issue with other carriers, so I don’t think it’s our building. And the coverage map shows we are in a good area. Otherwise, reception seems fine. Any ideas for boosters or other troubleshooting?

We can help you troubleshoot that, Mark. There are some settings and updates we can provide that may resolve this for you. This may have been asked before. Calling Canada. Some copy makes it look like it’s part of the plan I have. Other copy says it costs 4 cents a minute extra. I have relitives just across the boarder in Canada and cant figure out if I should or should not call them with my cellular phone?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate you taking the time to post, Royce. Calls made to Canada fall under the category of international calling. It is an additional 4 cents a minute when you call your relatives. Many of our customers use Skype or Google Hangouts to video chat with friends and family in other countries without using their minutes. Best of all, you can use them with Wi-Fi so it’s very affordable. If you have any questions about calling internationally, feel free to give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we will be happy to answer them for you. I have just discovered the new ZTE Wireless Home Phone Base
As I see it….. it is a desk based Cell phone that can connect all the phones in my house that allready exist to a cell based system.
I have a a unit from ATT when I was with them and it looks like the same Model WF720. Can I just go to sears buy a CC sim and use it in the ZTE WF 720?. My new office needs a system like this to keep my overhead low. A new office number and a $10 sim that would add $10 to my cell bill sounds like a winner.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Royce. If your device uses a SIM card, we’re happy to see if it will work with our service! Best of all, you can try it risk-free! Just pickup our SIM card at your local Target or Sears store, here on our website or we can get one to you over the phone at 888-345-5509. It’s just $10 a month to add a line to your plan. We’re happy to answer any questions you may have, just give us a call. Thank you for commenting, and we look forward to speaking with you!

  334. Sally says

I’ve been told that Consumer Cellular has wifi calling so when I’m at my cabin in the mountains where I don’t have cell service, I can receive or make cellular phone calls on my Consumer Cellular phone via the wifi….is that correct?

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Sally. Yes, Wi-Fi calling is an option however, I should point out that availability is dependent on a couple of factors. Ultimately, there are two sets of circumstances that lead to Wi-Fi calling being available: 1) It depends on which network you’d like to use. We offer our service via the cellular networks of both AT&T and T-Mobile, and Wi-Fi calling is only available to customers utilizing the T-Mobile network. 2) It also depends on the type of device you have. Typically iPhones and other smartphones from T-Mobile are capable. Since there are a number of factors to consider, we’re happy to discuss the possibilities with you if you’d like to give us a ring at 888-345-5509. Or if you prefer, you may also email us at [email protected]. Thank you.

I currently use Virgin Mobile with an HTC Desire 816 phone. Theoretically it can support a GSM nano sim. Would this phone be compatible with a CC sim?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Stephen. It sounds like your phone may work with our SIM card, as long as it has been unlocked by the previous carrier. The best way to know for sure is the try it with our SIM card. You can find one here online, or at a Sears or Target store near you. We’ll even give you a credit on your first invoice so the SIM card is free! If you have any questions about our SIM cards or if you would like for us to send one to you, we’re happy to assist you at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you reaching out to us today!

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Charles, thanks for the question. I’ve placed a link to more information about our affordable cellphone plans below. Our plans allow customers to use their minutes any time of the day, and on any day of the week. There are no restrictions to when you’ll be able to use your phone. We don’t offer free minutes on weekends as we prefer to keep the costs of our plans down, and we prefer the simplicity of plans that allow customers to use their phones anytime they want. If you need any additional information, please let us know.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re always happy to help, Lisa. You can send a text message to an international number for $0.05 per message. Incoming messages sent from an international number are treated as a regular text and will be deducted from your monthly plan. It’s a very affordable way to stay in touch, even when you’re thousands of miles away. I am a traveler/camper and use my phone when off grid to assure I have connection with the family, listening to music, and etc. The problem is that I usually can run through data very quickly. Are there any thoughts to expanding data beyond 4GB? Plus, when I do go past 4GB, the speed of the service is just too ineffective to use.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to post, Craig. Having a cellphone is a great way to stay in touch, even when you’re off the grid. We are sorry to hear that 4GB of data may not be the right amount for you. At this time, we don’t have a higher plan available. If that should change, we will be sure to let you know here on the blog, and through our other communications channels as well. I’ve passed your feedback on to our plans team, so thank you for taking the time to comment regarding your plan. Feedback like yours assists us in creating plans that are perfect for our customers.
