    The apple 5s is an outdated phone of little value in today’s world, if you want better Consumer Cellular will charge you double, the higher same phone price in the apple SE, you think they would give you the SE for the 5s price as they are same phone with better tech.

    My data usage on my phone shows usage on virtually every app I have. Some I have not used, and whenever I downloaded data I have done it over WiFi. Can you explain, please

You can prevent that from happening by restricting background data. Background data is used by some apps even when you haven’t opened them. To prevent this from happening, open your Settings app, then select Data Usage. You’ll see three dots in the upper right-hand corner, which you’ll need to tap. Select “Restrict background data”, then confirm your choice by pressing “OK”. That’s it!       We’re happy to answer your questions, Ute. Most smartphones are locked to a certain carrier, meaning that they will only work when connected to that carrier’s towers. If a phone is unlocked, it can be used with various carriers. It is common for people to request that their phone be unlocked if they change carriers, so they will still be able to use their device. Our SIM card works well with unlocked phones, so our customers won’t have to buy a brand new phone if they have one that is working well for them. We always caution our customers that the only way to guarantee a phone will work with our service is if you purchase it directly from us, but in most cases, their previous phone works well with our SIM card and service.

      If you want to use data from your plan, you’ll just need to make sure the data function is enabled on your device. This can usually be found in the Settings app under Cellular for an iPhone.     I have the iPhone 5s, but since switching to Consumer Cellular it’s been constant problems. I’m hoping it’s the SIM card because first I bought a Motorola from CC and only about half my calls came through so I found I could unlock my iPhone 5s from USCC and CC told me I could use the same SIM card. I’ve had CC service send updates but still most calls go right to voicemail and phone never rings. Now it keeps going to No Service and NO SIM Card. I’ve tried all the tricks but nothing fixes it. Is it the phone or the SIM card? I hate to buy another phone if it’s just the card, but if I have to I’d like to do it while you still have the SE’s since the same covers will fit it. Any suggestions?

    Also, every plan you guys have, gives you unlimited talk and text? Is that true? Another question: do you need to buy connect plan when you buy a smartphone? What is a connect plan? What if I want text but no data?

      We’re happy to answer your questions, PJ. We recently simplified our plans so that we can provide more value to our customers. We offer two Talk plan options, one with 250 minutes and the other with unlimited minutes. All of our Connect plans come with unlimited text messaging, so if you don’t want to use very much data, you can choose the smallest plan. We don’t have an option for texting without data at this time. You don’t have to have a Connect plan with your smartphone, but we highly recommend one so that you can enjoy many of the features your device has to offer. We do not refurbish any of our phones, but we occasionally offer certified risk-free return models of our phones. These phones have been returned back to us in like-new condition within our Risk-Free Guarantee, and have been fully inspected.
