In Honor Of Our Customers, We’re Donating 2.5 Million Meals

We’re deeply humbled by our success, because we know that it’s only possible with the support of all our great customers. That’s why we choose to recognize significant milestones by giving back; it’s our way of honoring everyone who has selected Consumer Cellular for their wireless service. For instance, when we reached the two million-customer mark in 2015, we donated $2 million to the Knight Cancer Challenge.

Fortunately, we’ve kept on growing, so we get to keep on giving. In anticipation of reaching 2.5 million customers this summer, Consumer Cellular is making a donation to Feeding America that will provide 2.5 million meals to families and seniors in need. We’re proud to contribute this on behalf of each of our terrific customers and the dedicated employees who bring them outstanding service.

The Feeding America Network provides food assistance to 46 million people, including 7 million adults age 60 and over. Through its more than 200 food banks, nutritious meals are distributed to food pantries and meal programs in communities across the country.

A donation of $1 helps provide 11 meals, secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks. Consumer Cellular has guaranteed at least 2.5 million meals (the monetary equivalent of $250,000) to Feeding America and member food banks. I encourage you to learn more about the wonderful work they do.

In the United States today, 1 in 12 senior citizens don’t have access to the nutrition they need to maintain good health. Faced with hunger, seniors find themselves at increased risk for chronic health conditions like depression, heart attack, and congestive heart failure, among other significant challenges.

May 2017 is Older Americans Month, making this the perfect time to raise awareness of this often-overlooked crisis. In addition to our meal donation, Consumer Cellular teams will be volunteering at local food banks, and we’ll also be spotlighting the issue of senior hunger and updating you on our activities through social media. You’ll have a chance to win 100 meals for the food bank of your choice in our trivia contest on Facebook, and you can also follow us on Google +, and Twitter to stay involved.

Having the opportunity to serve our valued customers and find ways to make a difference in our communities are the most important parts of what we do every day. I want to extend a huge thank you to each and every one of our customers for giving us the chance to make a positive impact on so many lives.

    Thank you so much for your special deeds for us, the seniors in need of nourishment and healthcare. I always thought my “golden years” would be just that. WRONG… Three years ago I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and have been living with the chemo treatments necessary to contain my cancer. It’s treatable, but still it’s terminal. I am only writing to let you know how much we cancer patients appreciate the fundings you have provided for research. Charles Turner

      Great question, Russ. First of all, your service is designed to work within the United States, so you won’t be able to make calls while in Europe. The good news is that you can still connect to Wi-Fi, which will give you access to email, Facebook, Skype and other apps to help you stay connected. Many hotels and other destinations have Wi-Fi available, so you’ll still be able to use your device.     I have written before but I would like to say again, that I think your company is the best. From the time I first contacted someone at you company, I was treated with the utmost of courtesy and professionalism.

    I had my own phone and was told I could go to our local Target store and buy a sim card for my phone so that I could transfer to your company. The person I talked to at Target in Fargo was very helpful, and walked me through the total process. It’s getting harder and harder to find a service oriented company like yours.

    I really like the idea that your company caters to senior citizens. I think we need all the help we can get. I didn’t need all the minutes that were offered by some companies with their so called unlimited plans,that they are charging exorbitant rates for.

    I will be telling everyone I can about your company.
