Get to Know These Apps You Already Have

You don’t necessarily have to hunt through the Google Play store to find great Android smartphone apps. Newer devices come pre-loaded with a variety of apps that provide handy tools without the need for additional searching or downloads. Here are a few that you should get to know!

Google Photos provides unlimited “cloud” storage for photos and videos, so you can back up your photo library and save space on your phone. It’s conveniently organized, so you can find photos easily, and you can access it from any device using your Google account. It also lets you create albums and share them with family and friends.

To make simple yet high quality video calls, try Duo. It works with both iPhone and Android smartphones, so you can chat with all your contacts no matter what device they use. You can even switch between your front and rear facing cameras during a call, so you can share a full view of what’s going on around you.

Your smartphone comes with 15GB of free, online storage thanks to Google Drive. It’s an efficient way to save important files, like e-billing statements and forms, and access them on your phone. It comes with a built-in scanning feature so you can create files for external documents like receipts and letters, plus you can sync it with your Gmail account to attach and send files with your email messages.

If you have a newer device, these Android smartphone apps are already installed and ready to use (they can be downloaded from the Play store for older models). Look for them on your home screen, or in your Google apps folder, and let them make saving photos and files, and video chatting with friends, quick and easy.

Can I use a tracking ZTE majesty smartphone with consumer cellular

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for posting, Shirley. We offer a SIM card option that allows you to use a device you already own with our service. First, you’ll need to make sure it has been fully unlocked by the original carrier, and that it uses GSM technology. A good example would be a phone used previously with AT&T or T-Mobile. To see if your phone is a good fit, you can try our SIM card risk free. You’ll find them at your local Target store, here on our website or we can help you over the phone at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us, and we hope you’ll give our service a try!

Does your data carry over if you don’t use it all

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Judy! We don’t offer rollover data, but you can change your plan at any time, up until the last day of your billing cycle. If you find that you’ve used less data than you expected, you can switch down to a smaller plan and save money that month. Then you can change it back the next month if you like! You’re welcome to try our SIM card with your device to see if it will work. It’s risk-free, and you can find one at your local Target store, on our website here or we can send you one if you call us at 888-345-5509. • Harold says

Did you answer the question though Ashely? I too have a locked phone (VZN) that I would like to use via CC.

        • Hi Harold, thanks for your question. In order for a phone to be considered eligible to use with our service, it would need to be unlocked and GSM-compatible. We can’t guarantee that all models will be compatible, but we’ll do all that we can to see if we can get that working on our network.

    If my usage report says:
    26 DAYS LEFT
    Cycle Ends 07/31/2018
What You’ve Used* What We Think You’ll Use Nearing Upgrade
    Talk Plan Change Plan
    MINUTES 7 of 250
    Connect Plan Change Plan
    TEXT 19 of Unlimited
    DATA 0.23 of 1 GB
Why am I “nearing an upgrade” on data if useage is o.23 of 1 GB?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for asking, Jayne. Based on the amount of data you’ve used so far, you would need to change to a larger plan if you continue to use data at the same rate. We recommend checking your plan later in the month to see if a change will really be needed. You can also sign up for our Usage Alerts, and we’ll notify you via text message when you’re at 50% and 75% of your plan. We’re happy to answer any other questions you may have at 888-345-5509 at your convenience. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us, and we hope you have a great day!

I’m currently with AT&T. Thinking about switching. I still owe on my iPhones we have. Thinking about paying them off when I receive my next bill. Do you know if I’ll have to pay my service off too? AT&T service has gotten to where it’s not worth a flip where I live.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for asking, Natalie. We recommend verifying if there are any early termination fees or other costs when you port your number to Consumer Cellular. For many of our customers, they find it’s well worth switching to our service due to the monthly savings they receive. If we can answer any other questions about joining our service, please don’t hesitate to call us at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you posting, and we hope to see you as a customer soon!

  12. Marcie says

How do you download an APP to a consumer cellular phone? I updated an APP and now I can’t get it to show up on the desktop or home page of my phone?

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Marcie, if the My Consumer Cellular app was already downloaded, then you can find it in your Apps list (typically by swiping up on your home screen), and drag it to your home screen to easier access. Otherwise, it can be found in the respective Play Store or App store.

    I purchased a SAMSUNG 8
    from CC. No problems!
How do I buy a cover? From
    CC or SAMSUNG? Thank you!

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Paulette, we have a Combo Pack available that includes a car charger and a flex gel case that can be purchased by calling us at 888-345-5509 or through your online account here. You may also be able to find a case directly from Samsung or online retailers like Amazon.

  14. Rodney Lawrence says

Do they make Otterboxes for Motorola phones?

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Rodney. Otterbox does generally have cases available for Motorola phones. It’s best to check on their website directly, as they should have a list of phones that they currently have cases for.

  15. Carol Gordon says

How do I delete messages on my Cellular Phone?

    • Hi Carol, great question! To delete a voicemail, you will need to listen to the message and then at the end, press seven to delete it. To delete a text message, you will want to tap on the trash icon and then select the ones that you would like removed.

  16. Kristi says

All my friends are connecting with Zoom during this pandemic. I can’t find Zoom.us on my consumer cellular android. Is it available to us on your service?

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Kristi, if you want to use Zoom on your Android smartphone, you’ll have to download it from the Google Play Store. Please keep in mind that video conferencing can use up a lot of data, so it’s recommended to connect to Wi-Fi when using it.

  17. Toni Pettigrew says

I have a consumer cellular moto g 4. Is there a charge to add a google acct for apps? Thanks

  18. Gregory Gabrielli says

What is the best email app to download on my Moto 4? I have a verizon email on my PC but won’t work on my phone.

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Gregory, I recommend checking with Verizon to see what email app they would recommend works best with their email service on your phone.

  19. Edwina Mosley says

How do I copy my text app to my primary apps on the home screen?

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Edwina. All you have to do is press and hold on the app you want to move, then drag your finger to where you want the app moved to. If you want to move it to the bottom bar, then you’ll need to make sure there is room for it, as that bottom bar can hold 5 apps on your phone.

  20. Grady Graham says

Was wondering if my IphoneXS Max will work with any of your plans

    • Hi Grady, thanks for your interest in our service! If the phone is unlocked from the network, is GSM-compatible, and VoLTE capable, it may work on our network. We can’t guarantee compatibility for all models but we’ll do all that we can to see if we can get it connected for you.

  21. Armand says

I have Verizon Cell Service on my iPhone plus 7. Will I be able to use all the apps features I already have on my cell ??? Will I be able to use What’s all as well ???

    • Hi Armand, thanks for your questions! If your phone is unlocked from Verizon, is GSM-compatible, and VoLTE capable, you may be able to use it with our network. We can’t guarantee compatibility for all models, but we have had good experiences in the past with iPhones switching over to our network. As long as the phone has a connection to our network, you should be able to use third-party apps that are downloaded from the Play Store.

  22. Lisa Cohen says

Hello. I have the Samsung Z Flip phone, 1st generatuon. I actually think I purchased the actual 1st phone as I bought directly from Samsung. I recv’d the phone unlocked & installed a Verizon SIM. I was with Verizon for approx 20 yrs. I switched to CC last week & am concerned about losing my text messages. I lost the option to text “scheduled” msgs. & othe license on the text acct. still shows
I’m registered with Verizon. Is there something I need to do in order to preserve my texts? They are bookmarked but I don’t want Verizon to delete them when they catch up on the switch I made to CC. Thank you.

    • Hi Lisa, thanks for your question! Generally, an account actually cancels once a number transfers, if you choose to transfer it over. Because we don’t have those features, that would be why they’re not there. We don’t have a way to save texts, but you can look at using a third-party app to back those up if you want to make sure they aren’t lost.

  23. Paul Sweeney says

I’m considering switching from my current (T-Mobile) prepaid “plan” to Consumer Cellular and purchasing a “Link II” (flip phone). I only use my current phone (paid for Samsung A12) for making/receiving calls and the occasional text.

I have a couple of critical “apps” that manage access to my credit card (note the singular) along with my IRA account.

Can I download the same app(s) on the Link II flip phone?

That (believe it or not) is probably the ONLY thing holding me back from transferring – I would like to transfer my SIMM/phone number if/when I sign up.

    Thx…

    Paul

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Paul. The Consumer Cellular Link II isn’t able to download apps. However, you may be able to bring over our Samsung A12 if it’s VoLTE-capable, unlocked, and GSM-compatible. If you have the phone’s IMEI, you can check if it should be compatible here. We can’t guarantee compatibility, but we will do all we can to get it working with our service.
