  4. Samuel SPANGERBERG says

I am planning on dropping my current provider and switching to CC. 1. Can I keep my existing number? 2. How do I coordinate terminating one and beginning the other without losing service?
    thanks

    • Hi Samuel, thank you for your blog post! You can definitely keep your existing phone number and transfer it over to us. What would need to happen is that we would need to have you keep your service active with the current provider until the phone number switch completes. This way you can keep using that service as needed, and the transfer can complete properly. Once that is completed, we would take over service for the number and then you can reach out to the old provider to cancel that service.

      • Bill says

Just like us we are changing to CC. We have to call and cancel our other service? When will we know to do this?

        • Hi Bill, that’s a great question! When switching, you will not want to cancel service until your phone number transfer has completed. Depending on who you are switching over from, service may cancel automatically once the transfer completes. I always recommend calling your previous provider though to make sure the account is closed and to go over the final bill to make sure there are no surprises.

  5. Kat says

Can you sign up for CC even if still paying off a phone w AT&T?

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Kat. You can sign up for our service even if you’re paying off a phone with AT&T. However, please keep in mind that a payment plan cannot be transferred between providers and the remaining balance on the phone may become due immediately. We recommend checking the terms with AT&T to make sure.

      • Dale says

How long does it take to port a number?

        • Thank you for your question, Dale! As long as all the needed information from your current provider such as the account number, PIN number if there is one, and the billing address on file with them is correct, we can have the number ported to us within 24 hours or less.

To all that are planning to change to C C,
you will not be sorry! C C is the best . However, I do not like the web page. Very difficult to read when paying bill.

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting, Don! I’m sorry to hear that you’re having trouble reading portions of our website when trying to make a payment. We really appreciate your feedback, and I’ll pass it along to our team! In the meantime, some web browsers come with a zoom function that may be able to help with readability.

Think I read somewhere there’s a credit on bill if you change to no paper bill?? Please do so, and let me know when you do. Thanks, and by the way, I have been with CC for several years and find them always ready to help. Sandi

    • Hi Sandy, that’s a great question. We did have a promotion in honor of Earth Day that ended on 5/14 where if you switched your billing to emailed billing it would give you that credit. Since it’s ended though we cannot apply it at this point, however, it may come around again soon so keep an eye on your emails for any future promotions.

  10. Doris J Ratzel says

    how do this work

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate the interest, Doris! With this current promotion, if you sign up for service between 5/15/2019 – 6/30/2019, you will receive a $20 invoice credit for each line of service. This also includes if you have existing service and add a new line during this promotional period!

I would love if you guys were an internet service provider for seniors. Just like your phone service. Providers out here now are not senior friendly for us. We too like to use the internet but the service contracts are expensive. Everything is going to internet to deal or talk with businesses. Thank you for being such an awesome service for seniors

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to post, Susie. We appreciate your feedback and I have passed it along.

  12. Mircea says

Hi, my question is how many GB data is montly and this price is only first month or for ever ?

    • Thank you for your post, Mircea! We actually have a few data plans listed on our website here and depending on which is selected that would be the amount plus tax you pay moving forward. It would only change the price if you change to a different plan.

  13. Marie Schreiber says

I have been with CC for several years. Never ever have I had a problem.
They are the best when it comes to customer service.

  14. Don says

We are using C C data for internet access, but don’t know what total usage is. One phone says 17.2 Gb through tomorrow’s period. The other phone reads usage around 12 Gb this period. Will we get sticker shock, going $50 in penalties over what was below the stated 20 gigs?

    Per phone or per account?
    We were watching one phone….

    • Hi Don, thank you for your post! I would advise that you can review your total usage via your online account here to see what the usage is between the two phones. As long as you do not go over your plan for 20GB there should not be any overages. If you have any questions about usage, please give us a call at 888-345-5509 or you can also chat with us on our website here.

  15. Shirley Jennings says

Seniors don’t understand terms like data and need it explained. I’m 77 and still can’t figure out an example of a data. Can U name things that would be examples?

    • Nicole at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a great question, Shirley! There are a lot of different ways that data can be used, including web browsing, emailing, listening to internet radio, GPS, streaming videos, playing games, using applications such as Skype and Facetime, and any other activity which requires web access. In addition to these activities, your smart phone can run automatic software updates to ensure optimal performance; these updates will use data as well.

If you need assistance with data on our service, you can reach us by calling 888-345-5509 or via chat here.
