November is National Family Caregivers Month, an annual effort driven for more than 20 years by the Caregiver Action Network. It is a time to recognize and honor family caregivers across the country, and celebrate the tireless efforts of those dedicating themselves to caring for a loved one.
This month has special significance for all of us at Consumer Cellular. We know that many of our customers’ lives are impacted by their role as a family caregiver, and we’re proud of the role that our service and devices can play to help. Wireless technology has been proven to be a particularly effective remedy for isolation and loneliness, both of which can dramatically impact the quality of life for older adults.
That’s why our focus has always been on offering high quality devices like our senior-friendly flip phones and our wide range of smartphones, giving families simple and affordable ways to stay connected. Our flip phones offer tremendous convenience as they’re so easy to use, and even include an emergency calling button so your loved one can easily call for help if they need it.
A smartphone is a great tool for family caregivers, either to share information or maintain important connections to people and activities. You can set reminders to make check-in calls, or send text messages with photos to keep everyone up to date on important milestones. You can create a customized photo album in Google Photos or iCloud so that they’re sent automatically!
Today’s amazing technology lets you turn a smartphone into a virtual living room with the simple touch of a button! It’s now easier than ever to bring people together face-to-face using video calling apps like Google’s Duo or Apple’s Facetime.
Our commitment to serving caregivers and their loved ones is also why we recently expanded our product family to include GrandPad, a senior-friendly tablet that’s customized for the convenience of users age 75+, so even those who aren’t as comfortable using technology have convenient ways to stay in touch. GrandPad gives your parents or grandparents so many ways to stay safely connected, and vibrant. It offers unlimited video calling and voice messaging, and access to photo sharing, streaming music, games, and much more.
We’re pleased to provide so many tools that help bringing peace of mind to family caregivers and their loved ones. We will be thinking of you throughout November, and remain dedicated to finding new and meaningful ways to help improve the lives of those giving and receiving care.
