Last but not least, here’s one more special gift: activate a line of service for any of these devices by December 31, 2016 and receive a $20 credit. There are no coupons or codes required. Just order your device, setup a line of service for it, and you’ll automatically get the $20 credit on your next invoice. It’s just a little extra holiday cheer to brighten your season!

Does my count on minutes and data usage include both phones so I can keep up with the usage and minutes? (Are they added together)?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Jewelle. Devices on the same account do the same plan, so any minutes, texts or data used by either phone will count toward your monthly amount. We recommend checking the My CC app or My Account to see how much your household is using. We’re also happy to review your usage over the phone at 888-345-5509, and we can always make a change if it is needed. Thank you for posting today!

Regarding the “Huawei MediaPad T1 10:” Just bought this item (from Consumer Cellular) and received it a few days ago. Dissapointed that the video play ability of this “tablet” is limited. Some videos play while others won’t. I understand this device lacks an “Adobe Flash” player (software.) Unforuntately this device does not support such software. I don’t expect CC to have the tablet selection offered by AT&T or Verizon. But would “upping” CC’s tablet selection to three devices be a major problem??

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We appreciate your feedback, John! At this time, we do only offer one tablet option in our lineup. If that should change, we will be sure to let our customers know here on the blog as we do with all new products. I’ve passed your request on to our product team, so thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. If we can answer any questions you may have about your new MediaPad or if we can make any adjustments to your account, please give us a call at 888-345-5509. Thank you again for posting, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

    • PGR says

John unfortunately this is a very poor choice for a tablet (as you have discovered). Don’t know why Consumer Cellular only offer this tablet but you can buy your own iPad or Android tablet and add it on as another line – a far better way to go.

      • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for posting! While our Huawei MediaPad is a great fit for many, we’re sorry to hear that it wasn’t the best option for your needs. Our SIM card can be used with some other tablets, though we can’t guarantee that all settings will work correctly with a device we don’t sell directly. We hope you have a wonderful day!

  3. Edith Stevens says

I have received a new straight iPhone, can I replace the ZTE phone that I now use? The iPhone came with a sim card to install. Please advise me if this is possible and what I need to do.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re happy to help you with this, Edith. You may be able to replace your ZTE device with the iPhone just by taking the SIM card from your old phone, and using it in place of the SIM included with your iPhone. Please give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will be happy to walk you through the process. Thank you for posting, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

  4. Tasha says

    Dear Consumer Cellular,
What is the minimum age requirement for a new customer? Thanks

    • Dominic at Consumer Cellular says

Hi Tasha. The minimum age requirement is 18. If you have any additional questions about our service, please feel free to give us at call at 888-345-5509. Thank you!

  5. Louisa Gray says

Where can I find an explanation of text and data? and the difference

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

I’m happy to clear that up for you, Louisa. Our Connect plans include both text messages and data. Text messages are used when you send SMS messages to someone while using the messaging feature or app on your phone. Each message you send and receive is deducted from your plan. Your phone will use data from your plan for things like email, viewing webpages, watching web videos, streaming music and more. When your phone is connected to Wi-Fi, you can do all of these things without using data from your plan. If we can answer any questions about your plan or usage, please don’t hesitate to call us at 888-345-5509. Thank you for posting today!

  6. James Partin says

I have an iPhone 6 with the Personal Hotspot internal to it so I would rather not buy the ZTE Personal Hotspot. Can I just use my iPhone and is there any additional charge for that other than the increased data.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thanks for asking, James! There is no additional charge, but we will need to adjust some settings on the device on our end. When you can, please give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we’ll be happy to help you. We appreciate you posting!

  7. Carol Edwards says

What could be using my data when I am in bed and not using my phone ???

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s a great question to ask, Carol, and one we hear often! Data usage is reported by the cellular towers in batches, often happening a few times a day. That means that the time shown next to the data usage on your account doesn’t necessarily correlate to when you actually went online or streamed a song. We’re happy to discuss this with you at 888-345-5509 if you have any questions, or if we can verify any settings on your account. Thank you for reaching out to us, and we hope you have a wonderful day!
