I\u2019m pleased to report it\u2019s a Three-peat! For the third year in a row, Consumer Cellular has been recognized as one of the 100 Best Green Companies to Work For in Oregon.<\/a><\/p>\n

As you can imagine, it takes effort from a lot of dedicated employees to make smart environmental decisions and stick to them. We’ve approached becoming a green organization with great purpose. That\u2019s why we’ve made long-term policy changes, such as the introduction of auto-pay and e-billing programs, as well as internal structural changes, including reducing the amount of paper copies we make.<\/p>\n

\"\"The green list goes on. We’ve installed motion-sensor lights, for example, and we\u2019re now using environmentally friendly SIM cards that use 50 percent less plastic. We\u2019ve made a commitment to recycle 95 percent of our shipping by-products. Additionally, we’ve launched a campaign to move more customers to online billing, a result estimated to annually save one million pieces of paper.  Put another way, it would be a stack of papers more than 10 times taller than the Empire State Building!<\/p>\n

One of my favorite green programs is our long-standing and very successful phone recyc<\/a>ling<\/a> effort.  New and existing customers are encouraged to recycle their old phones through postage-paid envelopes we provide or by printing a postage-free mailing label from our website. The real beauty is, all money raised through this program is donated to Doernbecher Children\u2019s Hospital Foundation. We like to say we\u2019re fighting back by giving back. The video below shows you how easy it is to recycle your phone and, at the same time, help children.<\/p>\n

I believe even the smallest of pro-green efforts\u2014whether it\u2019s driving less, recycling aluminum cans or remembering to turn off lights\u2014add up and help to reduce the environmental impact on our planet.
