There\u2019s an easier way. Both iPhone and Android smartphone users can now link their phone\u2019s messaging apps to a desktop or laptop computer, enjoying the convenience of full-sized screens and keys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apple\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/HT202549\" target=\"_blank\">iMessage<\/a>&nbsp;is the Apple messaging service you get automatically with your&nbsp;Apple ID. It\u2019s long been a popular way to send messages between <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.consumercellular.com\/shopping\/choose\/device?filters=Apple\" target=\"_blank\">iPhones<\/a>, and now you can also use it to send messages from your Mac computer. Simply look for the Messages icon on your Mac; if you\u2019re logged in to your Apple account, you\u2019ll be able to use it from your desktop the same way you do on your iPhone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.consumercellular.com\/shopping\/choose\/device?filters=Android\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Android smartphone<\/a> users can send and receive text messages, photos, voice messages, and video using Android <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.google.android.apps.messaging&amp;hl=en_US&amp;gl=US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Messages<\/a> on a smartphone and desktop. To link the mobile app and the web version:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the&nbsp;<strong>Messages&nbsp;<\/strong>app on your smartphone, tap the&nbsp;<strong>More options menu<\/strong>&nbsp;(three vertical dots), then tap&nbsp;<strong>Messages for web<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To pair your computer with your phone, click <a href=\"https:\/\/messages.google.com\/web\/authentication\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a> using one of the following browsers: Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge. Internet Explorer isn&#8217;t supported.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On your smartphone, tap&nbsp;<strong>Scan QR code<\/strong>&nbsp;and point it at the QR code displayed on the computer. Then, select&nbsp;<strong>Yes&nbsp;<\/strong>under&nbsp;<strong>Remember this computer<\/strong>&nbsp;if you&#8217;re using a trusted device, so you only have to do this once. You might have to re-pair your phone with your desktop from time to time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s important to note that to use either messaging app, your phone has to have service and your computer needs to be connected to a Wi-Fi network.
