This fall saw upgrades to the two major operating systems for smartphones, bringing some exciting new features and security upgrades to users of both Android devices<\/a> and iPhones<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Android 11<\/a> and iOS<\/a> <\/a>14<\/a> (for iPhone) are the latest operating software for smartphones. Updating to the most current version of your operating system is essential for maintaining the performance and security of your phone. These updates ensure that apps and software on your phone run smoothly. Perhaps more importantly, they also contain security \u201cpatches\u201d designed to help protect your device and the personal information you store on it from new viruses, malware, or other threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Typically, you\u2019ll receive a pop-up message on your phone telling you when a system update is ready to be installed. These will come directly from the manufacturer (Apple, Samsung, Motorola, etc.) and not from Consumer Cellular. With this notification, you\u2019ll be prompted to either install the update or delay it. It\u2019s always a good idea to install these updates as soon as possible. The download process can use a lot of data, so we recommend connecting to Wi-Fi before getting started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
