Your Android smartphone<\/a> or iPhone<\/a> gives you the added advantage of digital assistance\u2014the \u201cOK Google<\/a>\u201d or \u201cHey Siri<\/a>\u201d commands\u2014to have artificial intelligence perform a multitude of tasks completely hands-free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But with so many ways to use it, it can be tough to remember\nall the convenient things you can use personal assistant voice commands to do.\nHere are ten of my favorites, which you\u2019ll find with any newer device. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Next time you need to make a call, use your assistant as your operator. Simply tell it to call any publicly listed business, or any person in your contacts list\u2014specifying “mobile” or “work” if needed\u2014and then sit back while the call is made.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Send a text without lifting a finger by telling your assistant “text” followed by your contact’s name. Then dictate what you want to say (helpful hint: specify any punctuation you might need), follow the prompts and send your message without touching your screen. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Tell your assistant to read your email messages. You can even specify a contact’s name\u2014 (“Read me my messages from John”) if you’re looking for something in particular. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Peek at your agenda for any day by asking variations on these questions: \u201cWhen\u2019s my next appointment?”, “Show me my appointments for today,\u201d \u201cWhat does my day look like on Tuesday?”<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Use your assistant to help you remember important facts. Just tell it what you need to know\u2014such as “remember my Wi-Fi password\u201d or \u201cremember that I parked the car in section C7\u201d.  Then, when you need to recall the info, just ask! <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Don\u2019t worry about swiping through your phone’s settings to find something. You can simply speak it instead: try telling your assistant to turn on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, flashlight, airplane mode, or other things that you need quick access to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. You can also ask your assistant to take you to the specific settings sections for areas like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Just say “Wi-Fi settings” or “Bluetooth settings” to get right to them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Catch up on the day’s happenings by asking Assistant to “listen to the news.” You can configure your news sources using either the Google News<\/a> app (for Android) or Apple News<\/a> (for iPhone.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Give your brain a break and let your assistant handle all your calculations and conversions. Pose practically any mathematical inquiry or unit conversion\u2014liters to gallons, euros to dollars, you name it\u2014and assistant will figure it out for you. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. For a little extra peace and quiet, you can just tell your assistant \u201cturn on do not disturb\u201d to put your phone into a silent mode in a hurry. Then, when you\u2019re ready to rejoin the world, ask it to \u201cturn off do not disturb\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
