Wireless chargers are\na handy accessory that can be used with many newer smartphones. With wireless\ncharging, you simply plop your phone on a mat and walk away, free from the need\nto fumble with frustrating cables. It makes charging easy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing to know about the name: wireless phone charging isn\u2019t entirely wireless\u2014you still need to plug the charging pad into a power outlet. But you don\u2019t need to physically plug a cable into your phone. The advantage is that it\u2019s much easier to power up, as you don\u2019t have to plug and unplug each time \u2013 you just place your device on top of your wireless charging pad. In addition, most wireless charging devices are compact and portable, so they take up minimal space on a desktop or table in addition to making handy travel companions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wireless charging technology has been adopted as a standard feature on newer, high end smartphones by many major cellphone manufacturers. Apple has included wireless charging on their latest iPhone models<\/a> beginning with the iPhone 8, and Samsung<\/a> has done so for several years now, starting with their Galaxy S7 model. Samsung even includes a feature called PowerShare on certain models, allowing a smartphone to act as a wireless charger to another compatible device simply by placing the two back-to-back.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the\ntechnologically curious, wireless charging relies on magnetic induction, using\nan electrical current to generate a magnetic field which creates voltage to\npower your phone without plugging a wire into it. As a result,\nyou don\u2019t need to get a wireless charger made by the same company as your\nphone. For instance, Samsung wireless chargers will\nwork just fine with iPhone models, and vice versa. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you already have a device that supports wireless phone charging, I\u2019m sure you\u2019re enjoying being \u201cdisentangled\u201d from charging cords, or having to hunt down a cord that matches your phone\u2019s specific charger input.
