Smartphone manufacturers know that everyone has different needs. That\u2019s why both Android and iPhone devices include convenient accessibility options which allow users to customize settings or use apps that improve their individual experience. To help you more fully enjoy your own phone, I\u2019m providing a quick overview of some of the more useful accessibility options for Android smartphones<\/a>; in an upcoming post, I\u2019ll do the same for iPhone<\/a> users.<\/p>\n

Often times, small adjustments can make a big difference. For instance, you can make it easier to read phone numbers, text messages, map directions, Internet articles, and more. The process will be slightly different, depending on your phone; on most Android devices, go to the Settings menu; then System; then Accessibility. Next, tap Vision and scroll to \u201cScreen zoom and font.\u201d From here, you can adjust both of these items to make everything a size you\u2019re more comfortable with.<\/p>\n

For a truly streamlined experience, the Samsung devices<\/a> carried by Consumer Cellular all come equipped with \u201cEasy Mode\u201d. Found in the Settings menu under Personal, this option allows you to unclutter your home screen and view bigger on-screen icons. It\u2019s a great way to save time by keeping only those things most important on display, and by being able to access them quickly and easily.<\/p>\n

There are other handy built-in features that improve your accessibility, as well. When composing a text message, tap the microphone button on the keyboard to use the voice-to-text option. This lets you dictate your message, totally hands-free\u2014a wonderful option if you find it difficult to type using the often-small keyboard on your device. This same feature is available in other individual apps as well, like Chrome, Google Maps, and Contacts. Another added convenience is using your device\u2019s camera as a magnifier\u2014just take a photo of a small item, then zoom in to read fine print or detail.<\/p>\n

Our smartphones perform so many vital functions nowadays, and it only takes a few minutes to fine-tune them to meet your personal needs. By getting familiar with all the great, built-in options for managing accessibility, you can create a truly personalized smartphone experience.
