You may have seen it if you follow your kids or grandkids on social media sites like <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.snapchat.android&amp;hl=en_US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Snapchat<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/consumer_cellular\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram<\/a> in the form of the twitchy, animated bunny ears or whiskers they\u2019ve used to add a colorful splash of fun to live action videos.<\/p>\n<p>Augmented reality is being incorporated into everyday use apps, so you\u2019ll begin to notice it more and more, especially if you\u2019re using flagship Android smartphone models like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consumercellular.com\/Products\/885\/Details\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consumercellular.com\/Products\/887\/Details\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Galaxy S9+<\/a>, or the latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.consumercellular.com\/Products?iphone\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iPhones<\/a>. For instance, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/apple-ios-12-walkthrough-biggest-new-iphone-features-beta-2018-6?r=UK&amp;IR=T\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apple<\/a> will be rolling out an app called <a href=\"https:\/\/thenextweb.com\/apple\/2018\/06\/04\/apples-new-measure-app-is-like-an-ar-ruler-for-your-iphone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Measure<\/a>, which will allow you to use your phone\u2019s camera to accurately, and easily, measure the size of real world objects. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2018\/5\/8\/17333154\/google-lens-ai-ar-live-demo-hands-on-io-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Google Lens<\/a> combines AR with Google\u2019s powerful search engine tool to let you immediately find and view information about whatever you\u2019re looking at just by holding your camera up to that object.<\/p>\n<p>As you can imagine, AR will come in especially handy for things like measuring the fit of a piece of clothing or selecting a paint color for a room, and smartphone app designers are already on the case. Furniture giant Ikea is teaming up with Apple to offer an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ZDWRl9A1p6s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">app<\/a> that lets you use AR and your camera to virtually place furniture into a room and see how it would look in various locations and configurations!<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s just the beginning. Both iPhone and Android are releasing more options to app developers, so we can expect more amazing features to come.
