We’ve all had the panicked feeling of misplacing our precious iPhone. Thankfully, there\u2019s the free Find My iPhone app which can help you quickly locate your device and protect your personal information.  It\u2019s important to note that Find My iPhone must be installed and enabled on your device for you to locate it remotely with the app.<\/p>\n

Here’s how to enable Find My iPhone on your phone:<\/p>\n

1.) Go to Settings
\n2.) From there, select iCloud and scroll to the bottom of the screen
\n3.) Select Find My iPhone
\n4.) Make sure the toggle switch is in the “On” position<\/p>\n

If you can\u2019t find your iPhone, simply download the free app on another iOS device (like another iPhone or an iPod Touch, iPad, or Mac), open it, and sign in with your Apple ID. Once you\u2019re signed in, you\u2019ll be able to locate your missing device on a map and see where it\u2019s been over the last 24 hours. You can also remotely lock the screen with a four-digit code and display a custom message with a contact number. This allows whoever finds your phone to call you from the Lock screen without accessing any personal information.<\/p>\n

What if you suspect your phone has been stolen? Another option is to remotely delete your personal information and restore the phone to factory settings. This further prevents the thief from accessing any of your information on the device. You can still display your custom message even after your device has been erased; and if you do retrieve your iPhone, you can always restore it from your iCloud backup.<\/p>\n
