Since July 1st<\/sup>, we’ve been running our third annual Grandparents Day contest<\/a>. We\u2019re especially fond of this contest because it gives us a chance to hear from our customers\u2014and others\u2014about their families. So, I\u2019m starting off my selection of recommended Android Apps this month with MeMeTales<\/strong>, a free app of children\u2019s books designed for early readers. At the opposite end of the age spectrum, I\u2019m also recommending a killer personal trainer app for training one\u2019s brain: Memory Trainer<\/strong>. And, finally, I want to tell you about a very timely app that can give you real-time results from the Summer Olympics in London: The Official London 2012 Results App<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"MeMeTales: <\/strong>Now you can help your kids or grandkids read and, at the same time, play games with them. The developers at MeMeTales, a free app that offers a library of picture books designed for preschool and elementary-aged kids, made a game out of reading. How cool is that? When you download and use the MeMeTales app, kids can earn points and stickers just for reading books. And, in some cases, they get to unlock games related to the book they\u2019re reading. Parents are kept in the loop and notified of their child\u2019s progress, as their child racks up the points. MeMeTales is a great reading resource for preschool and early elementary kids. The company will be giving kids access to free books and learning materials from its publishing partners every week for six weeks during the summer. So now is a perfect time to register and download the app. Plus, your first 20 books are free\u2014just for signing up! Available on Android<\/a> and iPhone<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"Memory Trainer: <\/strong>The next Muscle Beach could be inside your brain, thanks to Memory Trainer, a free Android app designed to give your brain a workout. This app exercises your spatial and working memory, focus and concentration skills.  It\u2019s been scientifically proven that regular mental exercise can greatly improve one\u2019s memory. Toward that end, Memory Trainer is a series of brain training games that you can play to enhance your brain\u2019s speed, memory, attention, problem solving and flexibility. Plus, the higher your score, or the faster you complete the games, the more difficult they become. And you can personalize your \u201cbrain trainer\u201d by selecting the specific areas of your brain you want to improve. The brain games and training were designed by a group of neuroscientists and have been shown to improve core cognitive functions. In short, this app is not only a lot of fun, it keeps you healthy. And that\u2019s a winning combination.  Available on Android<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"Official London 2012 Results App: <\/strong>Once every four years during the summer, hundreds of countries and thousands of athletes gather together and compete in the Olympics. Now, you can keep track of what\u2019s going on during the XXX (30th<\/sup>) Olympiad on your smartphone with the Official London 2012 Results app. This free app will give you the latest news, schedules and results, allowing you to keep up-to-date with the latest action LIVE across all sporting events. Key app features include results, live updates, calendar schedule, details of specific sports, medal tables and athlete profiles. You can also follow specific countries, and receive official news and updates tailored to them all in this single app. Results cover all Olympic sports (July 25th to August 12th) and Paralympic sports (August 29th to September 9th).  And, if you don\u2019t mind a little cheerleading from my end: Go, Team USA!
