Introducing the Moto E LTE—an Astute and Affordable Smartphone

If you’re like me, you take pride in watching your budget. So if you’ve been patiently holding out for a fast and dependable smartphone that’s aligned with your finances, I’m pleased to say your wait is over. Clearly, one of the best values we’ve seen in years at Consumer Cellular happens to be a new, affordable smartphone, the Moto E LTE from Motorola.

The Moto E LTE is worth every cent. It’s sturdy and packed with all the power and speed you’d hope for from this pocket-sized computer of a cellphone. In addition to being sweetly priced at $100, the Moto E LTE fully employs the strongest type of network, 4G LTE. This data connection speed works about as fast as your high-speed internet at home. This means you can share pictures and videos or surf the web from just about anywhere and much faster than 3G.

The Moto E LTE’s quad-core processor will keep up with your day as will its long battery life. Text, navigate, capture photos or video and share them using the latest Android operating system, a water-resistant 4.5-inch display, front and rear cameras, 8GB of built-in memory and 32GBs of expandable storage.

The Moto E LTE is offered on our website and beside our other devices in Target and Sears’ electronics departments.  Check on our Store Locator page to find the closest one to you.

If you have any questions about the Moto E LTE or getting service with Consumer Cellular, just contact us at: 888-345-5509. Or make use of our now easier to use how-to videos. Simply visit our Support page and follow along with your device at your own pace and time.

I want to thank the Tech Supports Erica and Elizabeth for their excellent assistance in helping me get mine and my son’s phones working with the data. For me I am Smartphone dumb so it was great that Erica took the extra time for me to understand. Then with Elizabeth she assisted by sending info app straight to the phone as Mike’s wouldn’t work when inputting same info as mine had (identical ph). Walla! Phone data worked! Now we can get smarter with the smartphones..thank you all for your service.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re so glad to hear that, Brenda! I’ve passed your praise on to our employees and their supervisors. We’re glad they were able to help you, and we hope you enjoy using data on your phone!

  2. Tom Laughlin says

It works fine & I am able to add contacts & send texts fine on my plan. I have a hearing aid & wanted to know if there are any special settings or things I need to change to make it work more effectively.
The ringer is loud enough, but the actual volume seems real low & I have to hold it tight to my ear to hear things like the voice mail or somebody talking to me.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Great question, Tom. Your Moto E LTE is designed to work well with your hearing aid, so you don’t need to adjust any settings, it will work automatically. You can adjust the system volume to be louder for certain functions by going to your Settings, then going to Sound & notification. From there, you can change the settings for media, alarm and ringer volume independently. Be sure to check out our How-To videos on the Support page here to learn more about your new smartphone. We’re glad you’re enjoying it so far, and we appreciate you taking the time to comment.

  3. Beth says

I have just moved from one county to another and was wondering if I need to change anything on my phone? I can’t get service inside, I have to go outside to get service?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for the question, Beth. I took a look at your account, and you do have good coverage in your new area. You may be able to solve the problem by turning your phone off, then back on again. This will allow your phone to make a new connection with the towers. If the issue continues, we would be happy to help you to troubleshoot the issue further. We hope you enjoy your new area, and thank you for reaching out to us today!

  4. Chang Keun Park says

I want to Change my sellerphone from At&T to Consumer Cellular!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re glad to hear it, Chang! Phone used previously with AT&T work well with our service, and all you need is one of our SIM cards. You can find one at your local Target or Sears store, or you can give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we would be happy to send you one. We look forward to serving you, and we appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us!

  5. Loren Pittman says

I’m a Consumer Cellular customer. I have a Doro. I’m interested in upgrading to the Moto E LTE. I have a profound hearing loss due to age. (I am 90yrs. old.) I cannot hear callers on my Doro because there is not enough volume. Could I expect to get more sound on the Moto?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for taking the time to comment, Loren. The Doro is a popular phone for those looking for louder volume and better hearing aid capability. The Moto E is hearing-aid compatible, but only has standard volume. You can try the Moto E LTE with our Risk-Free Guarantee to see if it is a better fit for you, just give us a call at 888-345-5509, and we will get one on the way to you. You can also find it online here, or at your local Target or Sears store if that is more convenient. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us, and we hope you have a wonderful day!

      • Michael Frazier says

I also am not all that thoroughly impressed by the volume available through my phone, which is Moto (in this case Moto G Ext). What solves the challenge though is to have an over the ear headphone which I can wear either when I am getting ready to make one or more calls, and sometimes I asked an incoming caller to hold on a moment while I hook up my headphones. My hearing by the way is generally not regarded as poor hearing; yes I know everyone should get his or her hearing tested. I have purchased both a wired headset and a Bluetooth headset; both of them work fine.

        • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for your comment, Michael. We’re glad to hear you’ve found a headset that works well with your phone. If you’re having issues with the volume on your Moto G EXT, you may need to adjust some settings so that you don’t have to use the headset exclusively. Try opening the Settings app, then going to Sound. From here, you can adjust ring volume, system volume and more. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, we’re happy to troubleshoot it over the phone at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to post today, and we hope you have a great day!

Thank you for those kind words, George. It looks like it was Lucinda, our customer service representative who was able to help you. I’ve forwarded your comments on to her supervisor, so thank you for letting us know about your good experience. We appreciate it!

  7. Marsha Marker says

I love my phone, but lately we have been having a bad time with service connection. Not sure why, could it be the storms that we have been having, lately?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Marsha. There are a variety of factors that can influence your coverage, including bad weather. We recommend turning your phone off, then back on again when you are having coverage issues. That allows your phone to make a new connection with the tower near you providing the best signal. This is also a good practice if you’ve been traveling or are in a different area. We’re happy to troubleshoot this issue for you if it persists, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. We appreciate you taking the time to comment, and we’re so glad you are enjoying your phone!

  8. Steve says

We have had nothing but problems with Consumer Cellular so far. First they said we could keep our old phones. They sent us sims which did not work. Spent a day making phone calls to the carriers, only to find out we can’t use our old phones. So now we are trying to buy new phones. Can’t do it on the web page. They don’t answer the phone. A week now that we are without a cell phone to use.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re sorry to hear about this experience with us, Steve. We sincerely apologize for the frustration. I was able to take a look at your account, and I see that Bradley and Amanda, our customer support team members, were able to help you resolve this issue. We’re glad to see that your new phones are up-and-running, but please let us know if there is anything else we can do. Thank you for reaching out to us, and we hope you have a great day!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re very sorry for the frustration, Chris. We’re experiencing some unusually high call volume today, so we apologize for the wait time. Your service does come with a voicemail system, including a mailbox. You can complete the setup process and check your voicemail by pressing and holding the “1” key on your phone. Then, just follow the prompts. You can also view our voicemail How-To video here, which will walk you through the process. Once again, I’m very sorry for any frustration, and we appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us here. Thank you!

    • Jackie says

I totally understand your frustration, Chris. My service is so worthless I can’t even CALL tech support! I am forced to resort to emails which can take days before I get an answer. I requested live chat and was told it is unavailable. Right now I would like to throw my phone in the Wabash River!

      • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We apologize for any frustration, Jackie. I see that Christina, our customer support agent, was able to assist you via email, and that you’ve received your new SIM card. We don’t have a live chat option at this time, but I’ve passed your feedback on to our management team, and if we should offer this in the future, we will be sure to let our customers know. If you are unable to give us a call, email is the best option to reach our customer support team. Once again, we apologize for the frustration, and please let us know if we can assist you further. Thank you for reaching out to us!

How to clear all the missed calls on the Envoy! I have 13 missed calls &my phone never rang! my phone was on. Are all the missed calls accumulated..that would block coming calls!!!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting, Fay. It sounds like we may need to troubleshoot the sound and ringer settings on your Envoy. Rest assured, the missed calls showing on your screen will not affect any incoming calls, they are just shown to you so that you know who has called. Can you give us a call at 888-345-5509? We would be happy to walk through your phone with you, and get to the bottom of this issue. Thank you again for reaching out to us!

At the end of April I went to Sears and bought a new phone. It is a doro, My old one wouldn’t stay charged, it still doesn’t work. I have let it charge up for at least 8 hrs. I’m still not able to keep a charge on it. The new phone the doro, won’t turn up I am not able to hear anyone that calls me. I’ve tried to turn it up by settings for hearing aid but it still doesn’t work. The problem I have is with my old phone I purchased it back in Nov or Dec 2014,. I paid 65.00 for the old phone and am wondering why the battery doesn’t stay charged. Please help. Thank you.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Ulic. We’re sorry for the frustration, and I was happy to see that Ubaldo, our customer support team member, was able to help you activate your new phone and assist you with the hearing aid issue. I have a Nokia Lumia 635 smartphone. When I am away from home or anywhere where Wi-Fi is not available, I can not access the internet at all. I was thinking about saving up for a Motorola Moto E phone but I would like to be certain that the Moto phone WOULD work vis-à-vis cellular data connection. Can Consumer Cellular guarantee that the phones they sell will work wherever one happens to be?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Michael. It looks like you’re using one of our SIM cards with your Lumia smartphone. Veronica, our customer support representative, was able to email you the data settings for your phone. We are happy to do our best, but we can’t guarantee that all services will work well with a device that isn’t ours. As to the Moto E, if purchased from us, it will be able to use your data plan out of the box wherever you may be as long as there is sufficient coverage. We’re happy to assist you with ordering one, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. You can also find the Moto E at your local Target or Sears store, or on our website here. Thank you for commenting today, and we hope you have a great day!

  15. Nancy Hollo says

Well, after 30 minutes on hold for tech support I figured it out. I had to shut the phone down and restart it because I downloaded Android 5.1. Now I can get calls. Thanks, me!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re glad that you were able to get this problem resolved, Nancy. We apologize for the long hold time. Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with today. Thank you!

I recently came back to CC, and am very happy I did. I got the new Moto e at Target on a Sunday night, called CC the next day, and got my cell number transferred from straighttalk to CC, flawlessly! It ported over in less than 1 hour. I was amazed. Great customer service all around. Your website is awesome also. Thanks CC! ps. It’s nice to save 5% also via AARP!

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

That’s great to hear, Craig! We’re sure you’ll love the Moto E LTE, and be sure to check out our helpful how-to videos! You can find them here. Thank you for taking the time to comment today!

  17. Marianne Chase says

I am requesting that CC add a Products Page for all devices including the “Wireless Home Base” and extra chargers. I want to convert my land line over to CC so that I can get rid of the $47.50 charge per month for the land line. I can do this and keep the cordless phones with the answering machine if I can get the Wireless Home Base device. CC could then transfer my land line number to the new CC line which would change my home phone bill to just $10.00 per month. In addition to adding a complete products page you should add a Pre-Order option if the device or phone is currently out of stock instead of my having to call CC every week to see if you have what I need in stock yet. It would be a lot less Customer Service calls for CC and customers can see everything CC carries which could also increase sales of items that “go with” the phones CC sells. Thank you to every Customer Service and Tech Support Person for doing a good job each time I have to call for help with my phones, billing statement, etc. Please make your website more customer friendly.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for commenting today, Marianne. We really appreciate your feedback, and we think you have some great ideas! I’ve forwarded them on to our management and site development teams. Thank you for your kind words regarding our Customer Support team as well. It was wonderful of you to reach out to us, and we are glad to have you as a customer!

I have a question (not a reply). I was told there were classes for our new android phone in Chicago (north side or north suburbs) and cannot find where to sign up.

I can help you with that, Diane. You can visit here to see a list of classes in your area. We can also help you sign up for one over the phone, just give us a call at 888-345-5509. you offer a full line of iphones. that is very good.
now, what about your customers that prefer android opperating system. you should think about offering a better android cellphone.
    like galaxy s5,s6, moto x,
as it stands now, i can get a top of line i phone ,a cheap android phone, or go somewhere else an buy a good android phone.

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Good question, Jerry. We do our best to offer a variety of Android phones, from the basic to the more advanced. Our lineup is also constantly changing, so we appreciate your feedback as it helps us in selecting new phones to offer. A great option is our SIM card, which can be used with most unlocked GSM phones. That way you can purchase the exact high-end Android phone you like and still use our service. Best of all, our SIM card is free! If we can answer any questions you may have about our SIM card or any of our Android phones, please give us a call at 888-345-5509 and we will be happy to help you. 21. Carl says

It seems there is no reject list or ‘native’ way to block calls. I do not want to add a nuisance contact and dump it to my voicemail.
Can Consumer Cellular block a number for me or must I use an app?

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

Thank you for asking, Carl. We can’t block calls made to you on our end, but some of our customers have had success using apps meant for this purpose. If you try one and find it to your liking, be sure to post about it here! We appreciate you taking the time to post!

  22. Anita says

We switched two numbers from Verizon to two NEW Motorola Moto E LTE phones here at Consumer Cellular. Thank you for the great support which included a two week trial of the actual new phones with a phone # from you before we made final decision and ported over. Would someone be able to tell me how to add a Salutation to my outgoing text messages ( thanks or Talk to you later) > Also, how do I now get rid of the MIGRATE APP, and extra APPS that I will never use i.e. Hangout?. Thank you for your help and direction

    • Ashley at Consumer Cellular says

We’re glad to hear that your transition to our service has been smooth, Anita! I’m happy to help you with these questions. First, open your Messages app and go to your inbox. Select the three dots in the upper right corner, and select “Settings”. From there, choose the “Signature” option. Turn it on, then select the “Edit” option to add your message. As for any apps you’re finished with, press and hold the app on your homescreen. You’ll see a trash icon appear at the top. Drag the app icon to the trash icon and then let go. This will remove the app. Be sure to check out our How-To videos for the Moto E LTE here, and if we can assist you with anything, feel free to call us at 888-345-5509. Thank you for commenting, and we hope you have a wonderful day!
